  1. It could be done, and faster than you think ... but you need just the right guy ... and those guys are really scarce. Someone in the mold of a John Hart, who can impose his will on the program and get buy-in from everyone: players, parents, administration, community. So who is that guy? You halve the turnaround time of the program if you hire someone with real big program head coaching experience, as opposed to an energetic young guy who has been successful on a relatively smaller scale. You’re talking about fixing a whole program, not just a team.
  2. You are now entering the State of Denial ... 😂🤣😅
  3. Harry's story is a great one. He was from those great Jerry Faust teams at Cincinnati Moeller. Died tragically from cancer at only 47. That kick makes any list of the top 5 greatest moments in the history of Notre Dame Stadium. ... and that's saying quite a bit. https://und.com/notre-dame-mourns-loss-of-football-hero-harry-oliver-2/
  4. No. Sorry. Doesn't matter how many times you say it. This isn't going to get called. No official observing this at game speed is going to cut it that fine on calling fouls. And if you really gave it some thought, you'd realize you don't want us to.
  5. Just search “Harry Oliver” on YouTube.
  6. I’m pretty sure if I say “Harry Oliver” three times fast, @temptationwill vanish in a puff of smoke.
  7. You will this year. You’ll take it ... and like it. And stop posting that crap, or I’ll PM you video clips all day of Rocket Ismail running back kickoffs, and Bo Schembechler with that look on his face.
  8. He actually said that before, when he was with the Red Sox, whom he left after 9 seasons. He’s doing the same for the Cubs.
  9. I remember that team well. Aldridge was the first running back recruited by Notre Dame in that class. If I remember, he hurt his knee on the opening kickoff of their last playoff game his junior year, did not recover fully, and went to Notre Dame, but was never the same player after that. That was as good a big school team as we’ve had around here in a while.
  10. “Good” is somewhat ambiguous. My opinion is based on a comparison of Duneland teams top to bottom relative to other conferences. It’s not really possible to say whether the quality of play is as good as it was then. What I feel confident in saying is that the overall quality of play in the conference has declined relative to the quality of play in other conferences.
  11. Reminds me of how we officiate delay of game. The back judge watches the play clock. When it hits zero, he then looks at the ball. If the snap hasn’t started, it’s a foul. Are there going to be times when, technically, the ball will actually be snapped after the clock expires? Yes. Do we care about that? No.
  12. Unfortunately, I’m sure the resolution on your screen is not good enough for you to see that right now I am playing the world’s tiniest violin 🎻.
  13. When I signed up for the GID years ago, they told me the same thing they did when I applied to law school: “There’ll be no math.” And that, too, was apparently a lie.
  14. I believe that’s true. But it’s also important to point out what the IHSAA does with that money. After IHSAA operating expenses are paid, the rest is distributed to the membership. It’s not like they’re sitting on a big pile of cash at 9150 N. Meridian.
  15. I don’t think there has ever been any ambiguity whatsoever about which, in the final analysis, is the tail and which is the dog at Notre Dame. No one is confused about that.
  16. And 4 years ago I wouldn’t have said it, but I want Kelly to stay at ND.
  17. Or, you can sit back and watch some (hopefully) really excellent officiating. 😂
  18. I’ve disagreed with some things that the IHSAA has done over the years. But they usually have their reasons. Can somebody come up with the justification for the 2 yr. cycle vs. the 4 yr. cycle that everyone on here seems to favor? It seems to me that if the knock on the 2 yr. cycle is that it’s too easy to get moved up on the strength of one superior class, then the potential problem with the 4 yr. cycle is that it is too hard to get out of. You can be bad for a while before you go back down to your natural level. Thoughts?
  19. I can’t tell from that view whether the would-be tackler left his feet. If he did, it’s not a foul.
  20. Having someone perceived to be a successful head coach can help a lot in the free agent market.
  21. Seriously, I think we can agree if they get creamed by the Packers coming out of the bye then Nagy is a dead man walking. How do Bear fans feel about the “fit” with Jim Harbaugh as the next head coach?
  22. You’re right. Indiana knows something most other state’s don’t. Somehow, we just know better ... despite the mounds of evidence elsewhere.
