  1. Honest, there wouldn't be much shame going 3-6 this year for the Saints. They could still be considered good with that record. Are you sure they are double digit underdogs against Homestead? They beat the Spartans last year and both teams return about the same number of starters. They also led North Side until the very end before losing 32-27. Are we jumping the gun on Dwenger's demise?
  2. Carroll is a pretty good school with great football facilities. We'd be naive to think that Carroll's recent surge, coupled with a new stadium that would rival any in the state, isn't pulling at least a few players who would have normally gone to Dwenger. That being said, the affect is probably minimal. Dwenger is a pretty strong family and will find their way back to the top sooner than later.............that is if Garrett is the right man for the job. I doubt Dwenger will accept mediocrity for very long.
  3. The north is pretty solid with Valpo, Snider, North Side, and Merrillville. It's a meat grinder. Mishawaka is no slouch.
  4. North Side alone has three kids being recruited by major D1 programs. A Notre Dame commitment and two others with leans toward Indiana and Purdue. New Haven (basically a Fort Wayne suburb) has a kid committed to Ohio State. Wayne has a kid getting D1 offers. I haven't even mentioned Snider, Carroll, Dwenger, Luers, Homestead, or Carroll. I think you'll find that Fort Wayne can hold it's own against all areas of the state in terms of D1 talent.
  5. Upon further review (my brain was going back to the old SAC days) It's looking like 5-4 would be a pretty good season for the Saints. First five games are utterly brutal. Brownsburg and Moeller are a long shot. A 2-2 record vs Snider, North, Carroll, and Homestead would be considered a success. We'll see how it goes. Dwenger's still Dwenger, but their doesn't seem to be much optimism from the fans on this forum. But when it comes to the Saints, never say never.
  6. I don't think Dwenger fans are wanting another sub par season. Anything less than 6-3 and I think Jason Garrett will be on the hot seat, if he's not already. Right now the perception is that his success in his first two years was a result of the condition of the program and the athletes he was gifted with. No ill will here, just looking at from a fans perspective. Good luck to him.
  7. I misread the list, it makes sense now. It's based on professional stats only. I originally thought it was high school achievements.
  8. Jaylon Smith at 53 and Vaughn Dunbar at 149? Lol, no thanks. I'd put Vaughn Dunbar up against any running back that's ever come out of this state.
  9. You're passion for high school football is admirable, but you put too much value in your own area and not enough in others without facts to back up your statements.
  10. Not necessarily implying that it hurts you. I just know there are many on here who don't want to hear that it's on the coaches......especially the coaches. I just happen to think that's the best starting point, the leader of the team. Can't hardly pin it on the refs.
  11. That's valid. I'll be honest, when I started with the criteria that I did, I wasn't expecting only ten programs to pop up. I thought there would be an elimination process. We've been doing this for a long time now, I'm not sure there's a good formula out there to make everyone happy. Center Grove is one of those programs that could certainly stake their claim in the Top 10.
  12. I would say the ones who had three practices with them. I mean damn, you've gotta start somewhere. Why not the leader of the team. Sorry if that hurts.
  13. I'll roll with Warren in 2017, not budging in 2015 though.
  14. I would argue that you couldn't draw that conclusion in 2015 and 2017.
  15. Was Warren that much better than Snider from 2015 to 2018? I guess that's where I'm a bit confused by the comment.
  16. Someone should take responsibility for this. I imagine that's on the coaches.
  17. Not sure I follow, care to elaborate?
  18. I'm not sure there's any debating that guy. He gets his mind set on one sided opinions from the perspective of a fan coming out of NW Indiana.
  19. Majorly? Maybe if I find time I'll research the D1 guys who came out of the SAC vs the DAC over the last 7 years. I'm guess the SAC has the edge in that department. Majorly is a powerful word without any research on the topic.
  20. Good post. It's hard to debate any of that. It's all opinionated as to what makes a team a "program" and everyone differs in that. I agree that it's unfair to the 6A schools, especially those who beat each other up in some of the most rigorous sectionals in the state. But we all have to admit, that the smaller schools get slighted every time this topic comes up. It always comes down to the schools with the most resources. Although I feel that the ten teams I came up with are a pretty good list, there are 30 programs out there that could make a claim for Top 10. My list goes back three decades though. Is that fair? Accurate? In my opinion, a program sustains itself through multiple coaching changes.
  21. I'll roll with WC winning at least six.
  22. If I'm reading this right, you're asking if CG will win seven regular season games?
  23. Fair enough, everyone's opinion on what defines a program is different. This is a difficult topic every time it's posted. Do you think "2 years" is a long enough period of time to qualify a program? A two year run on talent doesn't mean you have one of the top ten programs in the state.
  24. Good work. The former SAC was probably matched evenly with the DAC. With the addition of Carroll and Homestead, I think it's a no contest.
