  1. These days it’s a disaster there. Drugs are rampant. Manufacturer’s long gone (They used to call themselves, way too pridefully, Little Chicago). As a kid, Connersville was where we did all of our Christmas shopping whether direct or at Sears direct or mail order. I actually think I still have some +50 year old books from Sears and the Drug store in Connersville. All of our Friday grocery shopping was there. Never knew what the deal there was. Great....really GREAT Hoops but football was awful....excepting during Radtke. Physical talent was there. Also, UW, I kinda jumped you when I was grumpy back on the OOB a week or so back (it’s getting close to that hour for me to be grumpy, btw). Not saying I apologize necessarily but I kinda apologize for being grumpy...kinda...
  2. Got no opinion on this....but I am a fan of Radtke....coaches truly do matter. Despite this Coronavirus nightmare, my wonderful Aunt from Connersville has a brain tumor (a terminal one). In the sad course of that (my Aunt is an incredible woman for the record), my cousin’s husband reminded me that Connersville wasn’t always a pushover....they had this coach many years ago named Russ Radtke....and they WON. Connersville NEVER wins (though one of the bigger schools within 40 miles there for 50 years) going back as far as my old days. Radtke won there. No one has since (or before). Gotta be honest. Radtke is a special dude. In general, measuring the relative loyalty or honor of high school’s versus coach’s is a draw at best. There are no innocents. Radtke is a rare commodity. He’s earned the right to do whatever the Hell he wants.
  3. What in the wild, wild world of sports!?! How didn’t he, as a QB, transfer to a poor ole’ Indy Parochial school like every QB apparently does per the crowd here? How did he slip between the cracks? Better yet, a Private school like Cathedral with big Indy money and a personal limo ............or Danville with that really nice doublewide trailer park (which seems to be the haven for wayward Central Indiana public school QBs)?
  4. Wow....just wow. No wonder I seldom post here..... Burning the world down is easy..... Guess I will do what I have always done in my business life. Build real bridges and bridges between people....sadly just trying to keep ahead of the arsonists. It ain’t easy.
  5. Benelli makes some very nice hardware....domestic and otherwise.
  6. This may have been posted previously but, as someone who thinks Norm McDonald is a comic genius, I couldn’t help but think of this song regarding bats (and coronavirus): Apologies, if this doesn’t quite post....just hoping, at best, the link is correct (Gonzo knows I ride the short bus as regards technology).
  7. a I posted this elsewhere but thought it might be of some interest here as well. “Just an interesting anecdote about perspectives as regards the danger of the coronavirus. An old, old friend and roommate of mine in our younger days is a life long pharmacist. To put it bluntly, he thinks we are overwrought as to the handling of the coronavirus and falls (still) very much on the side of it being just a bit worse than the flu. He quite often sends me updated numbers concerning various maladies with death rates, actual deaths, etc. vs. what we know so far concerning the coronavirus to support his position. Not a dumb guy........for the record. His wife is also a pharmacist but in the course of her career she has held fairly prominent executive positions with several major pharma companies and even been the CEO of a pharma start-up a year or so ago (she rang the opening NASDQ bell as part of that time). In following her Facebook posts, she takes it very seriously and seems very much to fall on the Dr. Fauci side of things. Two very smart people who have a real degree of expertise as regards this (admittedly not epidemiologists) who are at absolute opposite ends of the spectrum. If two people with that sort of pedigree (who somehow actually live under the same roof) are so vastly far apart just how do the rest of us truly know just where we should fall on the spectrum.”
  8. Something tells me the result of that 20 hour ride would be more akin to “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”. “Two men enter, one man leaves”. I am best in small doses.....20 hours would tax even Job’s patience.
  9. My understanding is that Chatard is now on e-learning with all games and practices suspended through, at least, April 11. Cant speak to other schools.
  10. Great place. Been sword and blue marlin fishing there. But aside from any of that, just a great vacation. My oldest just returned home last week from there. Hope you get to go.
  11. Well.....all I know is if I don’t get my wife on a vacation somewhere next week it won’t be the virus that kills me.
  12. Maybe I will finally get a chance to ride “Avatar Flight of Passage”.
  13. Going to Disney next week......apparently my better half couldn’t book a cruise for me down the Yangtze River.
  14. Geez...Tri-West. The news makes it just get worse. And I thought the Tri-West AD only rigged the 3A Sectionals.
  15. Just never, ever, ever (EVER) quite “got” this thread. Still don’t. Must be the whole offseason thing. That said....carry on. Have fun.
  16. Man, I’ve gone straight. Smokey Mountain Chew (herbal) and tea totalling (no booze for you non-sophisticated) since May 6 last year. Maybe a couple of alcohol lapses....but minimal.
  17. Having seen both, I actually think that team was better (more talented) than the State Championship team from the prior year.
  18. Dude - it took me, like, 8 attempts. This was not the original one. Pretty certain I couldn’t do it again (should have taken notes).
  19. What prospective conference might that be? Mid-Southern? EIAC?
  20. EVERYBODY I have mentioned this to has said “No, No and No”. I don’t know why and I won’t speculate.
  21. I, admittedly, don’t know the CYO talent like I did 10 years ago but I can’t imagine it has dried up on the South Side. It certainly hasn’t in the North. Roncalli is only 3 years out from a 2016 15-0 State Championship run. Frankly, I feel like the 2017 group was even better (they certainly looked that way when I watched them) but they were bumped up to 5A and suffered a close loss to Cathedral in the first round of Sectional (huh....a Roncalli/Cathedral first round Sectional game......that never happens). I’d guess the talent is still there. I’m going to be honest, Chatard was pretty special this year, and admittedly Roncalli was down, but I really don’t think Chatard had 46 points more talent than Roncalli. I think that point differential had to do with another component of the game. This is a great job. I wish them well filling it.
  22. Yeah...apologies, didn’t intend to jump on you and was concerned that I might be directing my frustration as to how Roncalli has handled this to your post. I have a great deal of affection for Roncalli (truly do) but the more I learn, the more “frustrated” (my polite word choice) I become as to this whole thing. It indirectly reflects badly on all the archdiocesan schools.....schools that I, personally, always wish the best for. Upon first becoming aware of the incident, I was of a mind that this could have happened anywhere (at least the initial aspects of it) and that the way it was addressed could be attributed to well-intended bumbling....still, though.....bumbling. The more I hear, both officially and unofficially, the more I have come to believe that certain aspects of the response were quite intentional, and in the case of how it was handled with the transferring school - intentional....and misleading to that school.
