I still have a South Central Conference handbook from my senior year in high school (1966 - Franklin Community). Among other information it provides, is the conference history up to that point. I remember the conference having nine members until Jeffersonville joined in the late 1950s as the 10th member; then Southport left after the 1963/64 school year and was replaced by Bloomington in 1964/65. I think BHS was chosen over University, Madison and a couple others (New Albany and North Vernon maybe?) A couple of forgotten members of the conference going wayback were Greencastle who was a charter member but withdrew in 1949 and Indianapolis Washington who joined in 1938 and left in 1942.

#3 Milton (GA) Eagles defeated Langston Hughes 56-35 in the 5A championship game. My nephew is a Milton alum and played football for the Eagles many years ago. He's pretty proud of their accomplishments.

Too big plus I can't imagine them wanting to be in a conference with Monrovia. Same with Shelbyville. Might be a good fit but would not want to be in same conference as Triton Central.

Last time around, in 2022, Sectional assignments were announced on May 3.

2023-24 enrollment numbers are up on the DOE website.

The Hamilton County Reporter may do this but don't hold your breath. They just named the Cross Country Runners of the Year earlier this week.

The Cathedral High School website refers to the athletic teams as Fighting Irish. Also, the Cathedral school bus that comes by my neighborhood every day to pick up and drop off students from the local Catholic church says "Cathedral Fighting Irish" on the front of the bus. I wonder if they received permission to use Fighting Irish again in 2011 when the Brothers of Holy Cross reconnected with the school.
