Kentucky has some good nicknames. Bowling Green High School is called the Purples. Trinity is the Shamrocks like Westfield. Warren Central (KY) has New Pal's nickname Dragons.
Warren Central's nickname used to be the Owls back when it first opened. The current name (Warriors) was adapted in 1926 for the boys basketball team. All of its teams adopted the Warriors moniker in the 1940s.
Let's not forget the PC moniker Warriors. Examples: Warren Central, Danville, Whiteland, Covenant Christian, Winamac, Woodlan, Wawasee, and a few others.
Warren Central loses 38-0 tonight. Great season Warriors. Turned out a little bit better than everyone thought. The Warriors finish 4-6 for the first time since 1997. Best of luck to the Center Grove Trojans next week and after. Warren Central losing means I'm going to be a lot less active here now. See you all next year.
Go Warriors!!!
Overlook Warren Central at your own risk people. The Warriors are getting better with each week. If they can keep the Center Grove offense out of the end zone and play great defense, I think Warren Central might have a chance to pull off a major upset of the Trojans.
Sorry for not voting these last few weeks. I just lost interest in it. I'm doing this again next year. But sticking with Class 6A. Good luck to the teams that remain.
Go Warriors!!!
I never thought I would see the day where Warren Central would be in the bottom tier of the MIC. The Warriors are going through their worst season in 28 years this year. Keep your heads up Warren Central!!!
The fact that both North Central and Lawrence North beat Warren Central. NC won for the first time in 21 years last month and LN beat the Warriors for the first time since 2005 in the regular season finale.
Warren Central and Whiteland Community in 6A one day??? That would be a scary thing. That means the state's largest class would have three high schools with the WCHS acronym. And two of them with the Warriors nickname.
Warren Central has all but assured itself its worst losing season since 1992 after losing to Lawrence North 34-13. The Warriors are young and rebuilding for the long run. It didn't seem like they just won state two years ago. Warren Central will be back people.
In 2018, Warren Central trailed Louisville Trinity by 21 points and made the most amazing comeback to win 42-41 over the Shamrocks. The Warriors went on to win their 9th state championship that November 27-7 against the Carmel Greyhounds.
