  1. L O L Center Grove will have the MIC title locked up somewhere around the middle of the 2nd quarter and will be playing reserves most the 2nd half in anticipation for next weeks game. Center Grove will have a top 10 national finish on the line next week. Nothing "scrimmage" about next week.
  2. Game of the year.....until next week right? Lawrence North has some phenomenal individual talent, namely McCulley and Cooper, but this game will be competitive for a quarter.
  3. Hope for an injury free game and the 2's and 3's to get lots of reps.
  4. Huh? Where did I say I didn’t support seeding? Anything that prevents two undefeated teams playing in round 1 on one half the bracket while two winless teams play on the other side of the bracket is better than the status quo. That’s pretty much a given and should be noted as common sense. But seeding is ultimately the by-product of a qualification-based system. But the all-in, blind draw is the IHSAA’s justification for unnecessary blowouts in the early round of sectional’s. The IHSAA has built this narrative that with an all-in, blind draw format that it’s a new season for everyone where anything can happen due the unique “randomness” of the format. It’s a complete farce. Seeding eliminates that false narrative the IHSAA has been pushing for decades and reveals that in fact the tournament isn’t random and upsets really don’t occur. Once that narrative has been re-established due to seeding, the need to include winless teams in a postseason goes out the window.
  5. I know what it means. And yes I know he wasn’t actually comparing genocide to the disappearance of a once very populated forum. But it’s in poor taste.
  6. I don't think it's difficult at all. I just don't think the IHSAA wants to have to answer as to why it's practical to continually allow 50-60 point blowouts statewide year in and year out at the first and second round level of the playoffs. Seeding the sectionals would be the tipping point to a qualification-based system. As it stands now, 50-60 point blowouts can be justified by the "randomness" of the draw.
  7. I've been on record here for multiple years saying regular season games would have tons more meaning in a qualification-based system. And yes, first round sectional games pitted between two teams that are 9-0 and 0-9 are unnecessary.
  8. Two different animals though. Wrestling matches take all of 5-10 minutes tops and don't receive near the notoriety of a football game. An overmatched wrestler getting pinned within 10 seconds doesn't quite have the same connotation of an overmatched football team getting beat 70-0. As a qualifier supporter myself, I do think seeding is what is holding Indiana back from a qualification-based playoff. Seeding would lead to widespread, unnecessary blowouts the first two weeks of sectionals to the point where only a qualification-based system makes sense.
  9. Small school coaches/AD's had no problem raising hell about class basketball....The IHSAA isn't going to act on anything unless it receives a ton of backlash from coaches or representatives from member schools. The IHSAA exists to mediate, not dictate. I'm guessing the Spegal transfer wasn't met with much scorn.
  10. How many coaches in the HHC vetoed or petitioned the IHSAA to not sign off on Spegal's immediate eligibility? The fact that Delta, the school he transferred from, signed off on his transfer all but ensured the IHSAA wasn't going to get involved. The IHSAA exists to play mediator when needed. This clearly wasn't an issue that needed addressed.
  11. Cathedral sweeps the GCL South with a dominating 36-14 win. Elder had less than 150 yards of total offense.
  12. Chatard 31-14 after pick 6. Merrillville a pretender?
  13. Roncalli's "demise" and I say demise lightly, has nothing to do with the SF. The SF was implemented in 2014. They were 0fer in sectionals from 06-14 and it had nothing to do with the SF, because it doesn't exist. Since the SF was implemented, they've won a sectional every time they've been in 4A and have a state title. Not sure what Roncalli being good from 2002-2005 has to do with the SF nowadays?
  14. How have they not? If there was no SF, Cathedral remains 4A this entire time (and in same sectional as Roncalli) as the same with New Pal and nobody knows who Roncalli is. Roncalli has avoided the two best 4A schools by enrollment (Cathedral/New Pal) for the last few years because.......the Success Factor.
  15. Roncalli didn't make it out of sectionals from 2006 to 2014, the first year the SF was implemented go figure. It's because Cathedral ended their season all but one year. Cathedral hasn't played in 4A since the SF's inception. Roncalli's made it out of sectional every year they've been in 4A post-SF. The only years they didn't make it out of sectionals since SF implementation is when they were once again paired with Cathedral in a 5A sectional.
  16. No it didn't lol. If anything, the SF helped Roncalli because it moved Cathedral (basically permanently) from its 4A sectional and class enrollement. Roncalli's season was ended by Cathedral in 6 of the 7 years prior to the SF.
  17. Huh? Explicitly; "The SF mitigated Roncalli's hegemony". Explain?
  18. On top of restricting eligibility which is stated rather clearly in their rule book.
  19. And more importantly 11. Transfer and Initial Promotion Eligibility (Rule 19). You have: a. Not transferred from your prior school to your current school for Primarily Athletic Reasons, or, b. Enrolled at your current school for the first time as a 9th grader, or, c. Transferred from your prior school to your current school:  And at the same time you and your parents made a bona fide move to a New District or Territory, or,  Because you became a ward of the court, or,  Because you became an orphan, or,  Because your prior school closed, or,  And your prior school was not a member of the local state athletic association or was not accredited by the local state accrediting agency, or,  Because of a school board mandate for redistricting which involved your prior school, or,  Because you enrolled or attended, in error, a wrong school, or,  And you transferred from a correctional school to your current school, or,  Because you are emancipated and you have now moved to a New District or Territory, or,  And you did not participate in a contest for another school or for a club team during the preceding 365 days, or,  And your prior school was not a member of the local state athletic association and you have moved back to reside with the same parent or guardian, or,  And the transfer is either to or from a Boarding School, or,  And you are a qualified Foreign Exchange Student under an approved CSIET program for one year, or,  And at the same time your parent or guardian just took a licensed or certified position at your current school, My point is well taken. Mr. Spegal didn't move his family 10 miles down the road to compete in a rival school district. He moved his family more than an hour away in a completely different city.
