  1. Not a fan of regional neutral sites but love the idea for semi-state. I think Saturday afternoon/night double headers would draw a great crowd and atmosphere.
  2. Aristocrat is still there. Lived at 49th and College for some time out of college and that was always a good walking spot for me. Plump's Last Shot (not sure if it's still around) owned by Bobby Plump had a joint in Broad Ripple that also had a pretty good tenderloin. Since the closure of Nickel Plate, Dooley O'Toole's in Carmel probably serves my favorite current tenderloin.
  3. Mayo/Pickle/Lettuce for breaded. Only way to do it
  4. Nickel Plate in Fishers was by far and away my favorite, which sadly has closed in the last year. Nickel Plate was owned by the Lux Group who also owns Binkley's in Broad Ripple and tenderloin there is nearly one in the same.
  5. The hero we need need but don't deserve
  6. Spare me that DT is the victim in all this
  7. Nothing wrong with disagreement. But DT chose to take his ball and go home. Not any of our faults he can't handle it.
  8. Imagine being this thin-skinned...
  9. I'm not aware of any conferences that have more than 10 members so in our current 9 week format, means you at least get to play everyone in your conference without any non-conference games (SAC is the one conference that comes to mind and I'm sure there are more). Have always been a proponent of adding a tenth regular season game and then eliminating half the field at the conclusion of the regular season. That allows you to start and end the season on the same dates under the current. Adding a tenth regular season game would allow every school to schedule at least one non-conference game and in some cases 3-4 for the smaller conferences. Also a proponent of a series of "bowl games" to be held during the week of the first round of the sectionals for teams that didn't qualify. In my qualifier you're guaranteed at least 10 games (same number as the current all-in format) with the option to play an 11th.
  10. A lot more issues than just being heavy and lazy, including a ton of injuries. But that's for another time.
  11. There's a lot of truth to what you say, but in the event it takes 1-2 seniors to field a JV team I guess I don't have a problem with it. Then again I don't know what senior would want to actually play JV but there isn't a rule prohibiting it.
  12. Probably one of the few times I'll agree with DT although probably wouldn't be as brazen about it. I guess it probably does all depend on the size of the school though. Like others have said, I view freshman/JV teams as purely developmental and a senior taking away valuable playing time from an underclassman undermines the purpose. Do understand the point of view though where if a senior or two plays than it actually allows for a JV team to be fielded and that I can get behind.
  13. Pretty sure Brownsburg-Avon played each other a few years back when Brandon Peters and Hunter Johnson were still around on ESPN. Not sure if either was nationally ranked but it was definitely profiling two high end recruits.
  14. Couple early keys for both teams. Cathedral -attack CG's secondary up the seams. Lawrence North exposed CG's secondary in the first half of their game last Friday. Cathedral's wideouts aren't as explosive as Cooper from LN but athletic enough and should be able to have a big night if McCahill is given protection. -force CG into obvious passing downs. Don't think it's any secret CG will want to keep the ball on the ground and keep Cathedral's O off the field. Jackson is a great QB but it's pretty clear CG prefers the ball to be in Steele's hands Center Grove -make Cathedral one dimensional on offense. Cathedral has a very balanced offensive attack and can beat you on the ground and through the air. -Win the LOS. Cathedral has dominated it's opponents on both sides of the ball at the line of scrimmage. Center Grove, especially their DL, will be the toughest unit Cathedral has seen to date and will see all year.
  15. They do. And great question, single dumbest rule the IHSAA implements.
  16. Not sure I'm buying that. With college football in full swing, doubt this was getting a prime time slot. Possibly ESPNU, but definitely not being aired on ESPN or ESPN2.
  17. Taking it a step further, teams outside the top 32 upsetting a team inside the top 32 happen at an extremely low rate. Talking 2-3 times in any given year. Teams outside the top 32 that advance, advance by virtue of playing another team outside the top 32. The Cinderella myth that comes with the blind draw is a total farce. Upsets and underdog runs to Indy simply don’t exist in this format.
  18. Literally meaningless. How else does an 0-9 team make the playoffs? How does an undefeated conference champion play a road game in the first round of the playoffs? You could theoretically schedule 9 bye weeks and still make the postseason. The outcomes of the first nine weeks have literal zero meaning. You can’t argue otherwise.
  19. There was a 4-5 year period where I tracked playoff matchups between top half Sagarin teams and bottom half Sagarin rated teams. The data was staggering and only furthers the need for a qualification system.
  20. You can still seed and alleviate the obvious blowouts in round 1; add a tenth game and eliminate half the field using some sort of rating formula that computes W-L record, SOS, opponent SOS, opponent W-L. It’s so simple that literally EVERY other state in the union has figured it out.
  21. Then why does every single state, in every sport at every level have a qualification format? Because the regular season is supposed to mean something. Our current format renders the regular season all for not. You cannot tell me otherwise. This “rah-rah, Superbowl, play every game like it’s your last” is absolute BS. Win or lose in week 7, you’re automatically in the postseason and your draw is determined by a ping pong ball. You want to talk about undertones and sub-plots, how about a postseason berth on the line? No one is saying the regular season isn’t exciting, but the outcomes of all nine games literally mean nothing. They are glorified exhibition games.
  22. In regards to the postseason, the regular season doesn’t mean a thing. It doesn’t. You’re automatically in the tournament and your draw is based on a ping pong ball. That cannot be disputed. In every sport, at every level, postseason inclusion/seeding/draw is based on regular season performance. It’s not unique, it’s nonsense.
  23. Congrats to Coach Moore and the Trojans on an undefeated MIC season but that’s not what I was commenting on. I was commenting on your palpably dumb statement above.
  24. Not a chance in hell a coach would say winning a conference title is more satisfying than a state title. Delusional.
