  1. Cathedral and Roncalli didn’t play in any of Scifries last 4 years as they weren’t in the same class and Dwenger and Roncalli to my knowledge haven’t played each other in the last 10 years.
  2. I thought Dwenger was the better team than Zionsville. Killer unforced turnovers and a questionable DPI on the last drive kept the Eagles alive.
  3. Disagree. Scifries is an all-timer but lack of creativity in the offense likely held Roncalli back several years. Power toss left and power toss right 9/10 times works if you have the hosses up front, but Roncalli has gone to a modern, spread approach on offense and you see the results. I think same can be said for Lorenzano at Chatard. Still will never get used to seeing the Trojans slinging the ball all over the field, but hey if it works....
  4. there’s one thing Cathedral won’t do and that’s run up the score on an inferior opponent. Scored 7 2nd half points against Decatur, 14 against Whiteland, and 3 against Castle after dominating first halves.
  5. Doesn’t have jump off the wall stats primarily because he’s either taken out after halftime or playing with a running clock, but still good numbers nonetheless. I could see cases for all 3 (and Huebler) but head tells me it is Steele’s to lose.
  6. My concern with Westfield; can they stop Center Grove on offense? Westfield’s offense has come alive throughout the course of the season, but that really doesn’t matter against CG’s stifling defense.
  7. I started a thread at the mid-way point of the season and thought it’d come down to these three guys: Donovan McCulley-LN Carson Steele-Center Grove Nathan McCahill-Cathrdral I will add that Roncalli’s impressive run to the state finals probably warrants some attention for Huebler. At the end of the day the award is likely going to go to the best skill position player on the best team and that’s Carson Steele. McCulley and his commitment to Indiana is probably what most want to see, but I feel he needed to lead LN to at least a sectional title.
  8. Crazy to think how far Westfield has come since week 1. Granted, Cathedral has turned out far better than anyone could have imagined, but was very unimpressed with Westfield.
  9. Yep. Amy Beverland is the Geist elementary school. Used to be a direct feeder to Lawrence Central until open enrollment. Williams Creek is Washington Twp and arguably the wealthiest per capita neighborhood in Marion County. Would imagine most of those kids attend private school but a lot do go through the public school system.
  10. Pick Central is LOADED with D1 talent. Flabbergasted at the result.
  11. Whiteland had a decent resume, but lost by double digits to the the only team that had a semblance of the skill position players Cathedral had. Whiteland attempted three forward passes the entire game and the only one completed was to the other team. Recipe for disaster.
  12. So how is that not an advantage to public’s? If I live in IPS and have an 8th grader that is really good, I can either a) send him to one of the many surrounding township schools that have good football programs or pony up and send him to Cathedral or Chatard. One’s free and one cost money. Who holds the advantage?
  13. Nearly 2/3’s of Cathedral’s enrollment is on some kind of financial aid and I’m guessing that’s on the low end in comparison to other P/P’s statewide. Plenty of single parent kids going to P/P’s. Open enrollment allows you to attend any public school you want. Before, you attended your local high school or paid to go to a private school. Open enrollment ended that ideology.
  14. Only rich kids go to P/P’s? Wouldn’t that then be an even bigger advantage to public schools?
  15. Valpo? Good team but Cathedral is 3-4 TDs better in my opinion.
  16. Open enrollment has ended the discussion about “borders” and that was almost 10 years ago.
  17. Mooresville beat Decatur and Roncalli is better than both Whiteland and Decatur. East Central or Mooresville (not sure how semi-state would look as Cathedral would shake up alignment) both better than Castle. No argument on 4A north however but not sure it really matters who Cathedral plays in Zionsville or Dwenger. 4A would be tons more competitive if the SF didn’t exists as some of the best teams in 5A are 4A by enrollment.
  18. This year? I don’t agree. Path of Roncalli/Mt Vernon (sectional), Mooresville (regional), East Central (semi-state) is just as hard, if not harder, than Cathrdral’s 5A path.
  19. So is it the success factor or the Cathedral factor? You can’t have it both ways. It would have been disappointing as a fan to watch Cathedral play in the 4A tournament this year although I don’t think there’s a huge difference at the top of 4A and 5A this year once you take Cathedral out of the equation. But it’s not an arbitrary rule on a case by case basis, it must remain the same for everyone.
  20. All P/P’s aren’t Chatard or Cathedral, not even close. Saying Park Tudor or Bishop Noll should play up a class because Cathedral and Chatard punch above their weight is ludicrous. It’s why the success factor, and not a multiplier or auto 1 class bump, exists.
  21. How about actually played at Delta High School before ending up at New Pal? It doesn’t matter though. Someone from New Pal of all people should know it’s the way you put your pads on that determines success.
