Good point on his support staff. Didn't you say Harrell hasn't been able to stick anywhere as an OC?

He was fired from USC after suffering through their worst season since the early 90's (the whole staff was) and spent one year last year at West Virginia and voluntarily left. But you want see one West Virginia fan said to see him leave.

Agree on Rutgers. After that I think Nebraska through Indiana all interchangeable. At this point I'm worried Walters is in over his head at Purdue. My daughter, who has zero interest in watching sports, could watch a Purdue game and tell you they need to stop running up the middle on short yardage situations. Defensively, is it possibel Walters shined at Illinois because he had NFL talent and feasted on crappy Big Ten West offenses?

Probably too early to make that call on Walters although this is not the type of industry where you want to learn the job on the fly.

I do think Walters was pretty careless in the hiring of his support staff. A lot of young and up and coming coaches instead of having some veteran leadership to assist him through the first few years.

Frederick Douglass Broncos sit at #2 in Kentucky 6A and are 2-2

    @ Trinity [2-3] (KY) Won 17-14

Tates Creek [3-2] (KY) Won  43-0

    @ Corbin [4-0] (KY) Lost 6-0

    D1 College Prospects

    Z. Madison 6'5" 315 Senior IOL 3.5 Star (Committed Arkansas)
    D. Kennedy 6'3" 265 Senior WR 3.5 Star (Committed Purdue)
    J. Lowe 5'11" 170 Senior CB 3.5 Star (Committed Michigan)
    T. Hicks 5'11" 170 Senior CB  3 Star (Committed Northwestern)

    A 6'3 265 lb WR??? Lord

I know they have a junior WR who has a ton of P5 offers as well.

Don't know much about Frederick Douglas, other than they won a KY state championship last year and they're relatively new (2017).

I'm too old to make this trip so I'll be a keyboard jockey this week.

They have several P5 recruits and beat Trinity earlier this year although Trinity may be down. Thinking the Irish will need to play extremely well, turnover-free football to win.

Switch Michigan and Florida State. Insert USC at #3.

I've got Notre Dame beating Ohio State and losing to USC. Duke scares the hell out of me.

I'm not buying any USC hype until their defense can stop somebody.

I think Duke's win over Clemson is more of an indictment on Clemson than it is Duke. Solid team this year, especially for program standards, but I don't think they're anything special. I'd be more worried about playing a potentially undefeated and ranked Louisville team at home in a few weeks than I would Duke if I were a Notre Dame fan. Ohio State and Notre Dame should be a barn burner. McCord needed a few games to get his feet under him.

Fair. He definitely will have the opportunity to fill up the stat sheet against some of the competition they will play throughout conference play now, as well. I don't think I am taking EC over BD, Burg, or CG though.

Don't know if EC could handle the grind of the 6A tournament nor should they be expected too with 1270 kids. But in a one off game who knows? I think they're the real deal this year and Ringer is special.

Would have to think Cherry, Sherrell, or Gotkowski who are all the perceived best players on the three best 6A teams will probably command some attention assuming one of those teams win 6A.

Danny O'Neil Cathedral was probably the front runner coming into the season and while he has put up some good numbers, likely doesn't have the the team to make a run this year.

Never thought I’d see the day when it seems the IU defense is good enough/competent yet the offense can’t get it done.

Thought the offense started to click once they took the training wheels of Jackson in the 2nd half. IU was all too predictable play-calling wise in their game against Ohio State and much of the first half against Louisville. There’s some talent and athleticism at the skill positions and Jackson appears to have all the tools. His maturation as the season progresses will tell a lot.

Should Kevin Wright have a bigger role than tight ends coach in his 4th season with the team? It's hard to ignore that he won everywhere he went when having the support of the community............Noblesville, Warren Central, Carmel, and IMG. The only exception being Tulsa Union where he had absolutely no support. He saw that after one season and got the hell out. His resume is pretty sick. I have a hard time believing he shouldn't be more than just a tight ends coach.

He owns an over-all record of 229-65 (.779)

Eight Top-10 national rankings, four state championships and two state runner-up finishes as a head coach.

He has coached four national players of the year, 39 All-Americans and 150 plus Division I student-athletes.

At IMG in Bradenton, Fla., he went 44-2 in five campaigns. The program posted three-straight undefeated seasons (2015-2017), and 5 consecutive Top-6 National rankings.

He has coached 25 former NFL players.

He guided Carmel High School to a 54-11 record and three state championship appearances with a title and No. 4 national ranking upon conclusion of the 2011 campaign.

Kevin became the 5th coach in Indiana High School history to win state titles at two different schools.

From 2003-2005, he led Warren Central to three-consecutive state titles. The 2005 team finished the season ranked 5th in the nation, and the warriors were ranked nationally for 4 consecutive years.

Can he call plays? Walt Bell is awful and will yet again be the downfall of what should be another disappointing season. That 4th and G play all alone should be a fireable offense.

C’mon now.  I need you to bring that same energy you had last month when Harbaugh was “lying to the NCAA.”

    Don’t disappoint me now.

    ?

I don’t think MSU wants anything more than there to be enough to fire Tucker for cause. They quite arguably gave him the worst coaching contract in the history of sports. Tucker and this woman have spoken on the phone 27 different times with the average talk time being 30+ minutes. He admitted to having phone s*x with this woman on multiple occasions and thought it was consensual the entire time.

As far as Harbaugh goes, I have no clue if he’s lying to the NCAA. The NCAA says he did and he says he didn’t. He accepted a 3 game university self-imposed suspension to soften the damage. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

I understand that when something out of the ordinary happens, general human tendency is to wonder about its impact.  If it was something that happened to one side and not the other, I'd be more inclined to consider that.  For example, if Cathedral's bus broke down on the way to the game the second day and the team had to push the bus five miles to a gas station before the game, then I'd say that perhaps one team "benefited" from the unusual circumstance or if Cathedral had to play the remainder of the game without their starting QB because his big brother was getting married that Saturday and he was the best man so he couldn't attend.  In this case, however, both teams had to come back the next day, facing the same/similar hardships, etc.  I'm not sure that either team had an advantage or disadvantage based on the postponement; especially given that Chatard was putting up points in the second quarter and Cathedral wasn't.

Don’t think anyone from Cathedral is going to blame this on the lights when it happened at their venue of all places.

One team showed up to play Saturday morning while the other team was still in bed. I’ll let you guess which team won.

Maybe the Irish are back to being normal? A Top Ten program? Or would you say being Top 3 is normal? I feel that being Top 3 for Cathedral was just a trend that lasted 5 years or so.

Not real fixated on rankings. Losing to Chatard doesn’t bother me so much as the way they lost. Chatard is a rivalry game and more than a formidable opponent but they out-played and out-coached Cathedral for the final 36 minutes and that can’t happen.

I think the Moeller vs CG game will be closer.  Moeller has their backs against the wall, coming off a crushing loss to East Central.  They sure as heck don't want to go 0-3 against Indiana teams.  I think their coaches will have them ready to play.  Still favor CG, but believe it will be a battle.

They smoked Dwenger week 2 but yes 1-3 against IN competition before you play an OH opponent really puts them behind the 8ball.

Am I missing something? Can it be made to make sense? Obviously something has to be missing.

That's what I keep coming back too. There has to be something that the IHSAA and/or Indian Creek can't publicly comment on or Doyel is intentionally omitting from his piece.

This story is on the verge of national news (I saw where Yahoo had re-published Doyel's article), just can't fathom that Indian Creek or the IHSAA would die on this hill and allow for all this public scrutiny if they didn't have a leg to stand on.
