  1. I'm going to give the kid of the benefit of the doubt that he's a True Freshman and was playing against a team whose D-Line was far superior to the IU OL. But, it just seemed like McCulley was completely lost if he wasn't running the ball. Man, talk about baptism by fire.
  2. Looks fairly one sided in favor of Northridge. According to Sagarin, Northridge has played the much tougher schedule. Not much of a surprise to me that Leo lost this one.
  3. I don't think it would be a Lowell Regional without that type of weather. I haven't followed Lowell this year, but that beating they gave the Brickies caught my attention. I've read they've sustained some injuries this year and are finally playing with a healthy team. The Inferno is a very tough place to win at. I'll take the Red Devils 16-13 in the rematch.
  4. Good points. My thoughts: I am surprised in Year 5 that he still is shuffling QB's. Looking at this year, I think he really wanted Plummer to be the guy with his athleticism and finally gave in to the realization that AOC can throw the ball around despite having the mobility of a stone statute. I think Brady Allen is a litmus test type of recruit. At some point Brohm needs to bring a good QB in and develop him into the program QB. Allen is 6'5. I beieve he has some athletic ability. A lot of well established programs wanted him. It's time for Brohm to put his mark on the QB position. I don't see any possible way he makes the jump to the NFL as a HC. Not succesfull enough at the college level and doesn't have the knowledge of an innovative offense (Cliff Kingsbury) that an NFL team wants to tap into. So, if his transition is as a QB Coach or maybe even an OC, I have really have no idea how those positions payout vs. a Big Ten HC job. This. I'm hopeful he truly has turned the corner and the program is up and running. And I'm hoping he has no interest in leaving West Lafayette. As I said before, he and his family supposedly love West Lafayette. Brohm has been on record before saying he likes the challenge of trying to win big at Purdue and it would be more special than at a powerhouse program that's accustomed to winning big.
  5. I'm going for a PAT as well with those odds. What was the final yardage and TOP for the game? Curious regarding the comment "Leo lost the game as much as Northridge won the game."
  6. Haha. Even while enjoying that offensive explosion and big W, the classic Boiler in me was still getting salty about that Minnesota game. This team is it's frustrated moments, but they are fun to watch when they're on. I'm really looking forward to seeing how high Bell goes in the NFL Draft. Is a potential 1st rounder? I can't tell if I'm being a homer or it's a legit possibility. I think some of you guys might be more bullish on Brohm that I am. I don't see how he can do better than Purdue. It's going to be tough sledding for an AD at a school like USC, LSU, etc., to sell their rabid doners on a coach with an average at best record at Purdue. I can't see him leaving Purdue just to go to a 2nd Tier School in another Conference. I've always thought the threat to Purdue would be if left to take a QB Coaching job in the NFL. That seems like it would be an ideal NFL job for him. He does have 2 kids who are in either the Harrison or West Lafayette School District. All stories indicate his family really loves it in West Lafayette. Maybe he would hold off on the NFL until his kids are at least out of school.
  7. Can't help but feel bad for Chesterton. The Trojans have never won a Sectional Title in football and it seemed like the stars aligned for this year to be the year. I know you can never look past the opponent staring you in the face, but I just don't see how Penn can beat Merrillville. I would start working in a little bit of prep for Westfield / Carroll this week if I were Merrillville.
  8. Sophomore RB Jaden Hart, Sophomore QB Tyler Bush, Senior WR Giovani Laurent, and Senior RB Raci'on Anderson are impressive to watch for the Wolves. Hart already has some P5 Conference Offers. They got off to a very slow start against Mishawaka with 2 INTS and a kick return for a TD that helps the Cavemen jump out to an 18-6 lead. Then the MC offense just exploded. Is Mason the offensive play caller? Man, if so, he's an impressive play caller. Guy has 9 Sectional TItles, 5 Regional (maybe 6), 2 Semi-State, and 1 State Title since 2008. At some point (if he hasn't already) I'm assuming he'll at least flirt with an HCC or MIC job.
  9. #62 from Miss shouldn’t play another down of football this year. I would like to see the IHSAA thoroughly investigate this weekend with the officials to see if Wayne fan/players comments regarding the use of racial slurs is accurate. Multiple supporters of Wayne are claiming they asked the officials to put a stop to it. If the officials validate the claims, no damn reason Miss should be allowed to play next week. No Place for that garbage in the game!
  10. Unreal playmaking and “onions” by both sides in the 4th quarter. HSE sets the table by converting multiple 4th down attempts on their final drive to finally get in the end zone with less than a minute left to make it a 21-20 ballgame. Credit to Coach Kelly for dialing up a 2 pt conversion instead of settling for OT. It looked like HSE went back to the same pass play that picked up yardage on the previous 4th down attempt. Westfield snuffed it out, HSE’s QB scrambled and found an open man in the EZ to make it 22-21 HSE with about 40 seconds left. I can’t say I’m surprised that Maximus Webster and Micah Hauser drove Westfield downfield and into a manageable FG attempt. Kudos to Westfield kicker Caleb King for splitting the uprights on the 25 yard game winner. it feels like Webster and Hauser have been at Westfield for 5 years. Those 2 are going to leave major voids to fill in the Westfield offense next year.
  11. Leo couldn’t even get out of Sectionals. Leo may have been the favorite on paper, but playoff W’s in places like Northridge, Lowell, etc. don’t come easy.
  12. Which is probably fair. I just had to laugh at the idiots who thought someone from Pioneer, with an ND offer, couldn't play in the MIC. I just took a look at the 247 Top 10 from Indiana in that class: Karlaftis: Beast. Definitive NFL Draft Pick Bell: Same as above James: Major Bust. Likely never fully recovered from leg injury at Avon Beau Robbins: No idea how he's faired at IU without looking it up Cameron Williams: Same as Robbins Tippman: No idea how he's faired at Wisconsin Kiser
  13. Good for him! I foolishly assumed he was a Purdue lock and was disappointed when he committed to Notre Dame. I also remember folks around Indy complaining a kid from Pioneer won Mr. Football. Nice to see he's having success at ND.
  14. I should probably walk them back. Poor choice of words. I used to follow National and Purdue recruiting religiously. Can't recall who the player was, but I remember GBI getting a quote from Dullaghan complaining that Purdue wasn't offering the guy.
  15. That was when I left the game. Fealt bad for Mike White. Guy finally gets his shot as an NFL starter, looks good, and then damages his wrist on a Colts helmet. On the plus side, he probably secured another 10 years in the NFL as a backup. Jonathan Taylor is fun to watch live. Same for Michael Pittman. It's nice to see an offense actually function after watching Bears games every week.
  16. The degree pays the bills and keeps the wife happy. Counts for something after years and years of misery followed by heartache in sports.
  17. I know. Just saying DC can bring the flash, but Cathedral will bring the pain. I would have already picked Cathedral by 25+, but without Stevens it's going to get even uglier for DC.
  18. Meh, Nike jerseys, cool helmets, a hype video, and running out of an inflatable tunnel won't be enough to keep DC from being down by at least 14 at halftime and at least 25 in the 2nd half.
  19. I looked up Hanover’s boundaries with LC, Crown Point, and Lowell. I didn’t realize a portion of St. John is in Hanover’s district. Is the southern suburban push in Lake County projected to bump Hanover up to a 4A/5A school at some point?
  20. Ha..sorry! Just thought about Auburn. Are they an option because he wants to also play baseball in college?
  21. For some reason this post reminded me of the times Dullaghan used to complain that Purdue/IU weren't offering his unheralded Ben Davis recruits even though he did nothing to help steer his heralded recruits to those schools. Speaking of Steele, he's definately caught my attention. I figured he would be a LB in college. I woudl wager he doesn't spend 4 years in Muncie and will end up in the transfer portal at some point.
  22. Auburn? That seems random. Dare I say he's a lock for Notre Dame?
  23. Admittedly I don't follow Notre Dame too deeply. How has the kid from Pioneer faired? I believe I've seen him getting PT in the limited amount of games I watched.
  24. I'm sure there are a variety of factors. Some guys can be absolute beasts in HS when they can get by on talent alone, but don't have the mental capacity to read the game at the college level. Some guys are just late bloomers and forever whatever reason took major leaps from HS to College. Craig Terrill wasn't highly recruited out of Lebanon in 1999, but he turned into a force at Purdue and spent about 6 seasons in the NFL playing on the D Line for Seattle. I'm sure there are 4/5 star guys choosing to stay buried on the depth chart at an Alabama or Ohio State that could have developed into NFL talent had they opted to go somewhere they could get meaningful reps.
  25. My guess would be it's a combination of the following: Who do you have offers from? Have you attended National / Regional camps where the recruiting guru's have seen you? What schools have you visited and has a rivals/247 writer covering that school wrote about you? It's alot easier to say the kid with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oregon (i.e. National Recruit) is a 5 star and the kid with Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky, and Missouri offers is only a 3 star. Doesn't necessarily mean the 5 star will be better in college. A good local example is James Aldridge from Merrillville. He shot up to 5 star status when USC, LSU, Notre Dame, etc. wanted him. I don't even think he had 100 total rushing yards in his career at Notre Dame. Hypothetically, my guess would be that if the kid in question from Gibson Southern officially visited Purdue AND the visit was covered by Gold & Black Illustrated he would be added to the database as a 2 or 3 star recruit.
