  1. I don't know, that field hurt Cathedral just as much as Center Grove. For example, O'Neil looked sharp in the 1st half and could barely plant to throw the ball in the 2nd half. Cathedral's #2 (best DB?) slipped in the mud coming out of a break in a route when the Center Grove WR got behind him for the long TD reception. Cathedral has some sack. They'll schedule anyone. I'll admit I respect the heck out of their coaching and talent. I wouldn't expect them to win, but I could see them pulling off the upset in The Rematch.
  2. Which makes it a shame the Senior Class can't go out as 6A State Champs. Winning at the highest level could have really put a stamp on this highly talented and battle tested Senior Class. It's crazy, at least to me, they've played the following teams in the regular season (20-22): Cincinnati Moeller Cincinnati Elder ( X 2) Cincinnati St. Xavier ( X 2) Bishop Chatard ( X 3) Louisville Trinity Brefeuf Jesuit ( X 3) Center Grove ( X 3) Westfield ( X 2) Carmel Brownsburg Penn ( X 2) Cincinnati LaSalle ( X 2) Columbus North Yet, they have no idea what it's like to play in a 6A Playoff Game.
  3. Might need another fix. Tracy played QB last week. Is Stevens even playing against Cathedral?
  4. I get your joke regarding field conditions, but in reality it’s Zero chance. None. A Cathedral team this good will get zero competition in 5A. It’s a cakewalk to the trophy presentation. And I hate saying it because I despise definitive statements.
  5. Agreed on your last comment. I honestly think in a rematch Ohio State would beat Oregon now that Kerry Coombs has lost defensive play calling duties. He was awful in that Oregon game. Still, Oregon won, and should remain ahead of Ohio State in the rankings. I'm honestly surprised you have Wake Forest at 9. I haven't seen them play. Figured they're benefitting from a weak ACC. Are they really Top 10 material? I would go: 1. Georgia 2. Michigan State 3. Cincinnati . 4. Alabama (I would still pick them to beat anyone on a neutral field, but feel they should be punished in the rankings for losing to A&M and barely escaping Florida) 5. Oklahoma (lucky to beat Texas and struggled against Kansas. Have a feeling they have at least 1 or 2 losses coming) 6. Oregon 7. Ohio State 8. Notre Dame 9. Michigan 10. Oklahoma State
  6. This game reminds me of 1999 and a game I attended as a Junior at Purdue. Michigan State, under Nick Saban, was coming off a huge win over Michigan and rolled into West Lafayette with an undefeated record. Brees lit Michigan State up with 509 passing yards and 5 TD's while Purdue beat the Spartans 52-28. Let's hope Brohm can rekindle the Tiller / Cheney offensive magic and the Boilers can pull off another upset at home. Going to be tough keeping Walker out of the endzone.
  7. How did Craig T Nelson get the Cal Polytechnical and Minnesota State jobs? He should be blackballed for his clock management blunders at the end of the 1983 Ampipe / Walnut Heights game. Cost the Bulldogs a perfect season. The star players spiraled out of control after that devistating loss.
  8. Agreed. Though it would be nice to see South Carolina or Clemson put them on the schedule. Speaking of App State, I had a brief stop in Boone, NC, a few years ago on my way to a mountain bike ride on the Virgina / North Carolina / Tennessee border up in the mountains. Very nice college town completely immerged in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The bar I stopped at had a very nice memorabilia wall dedicated to their win at the Big House.
  9. It is unbelievably frustrating to watch. Would have never thought in Year 5 Brohm still can’t develop a consistent QB or an O-Line that is worthy of being called a P5 level line. And of course my arch nemesis Row The Boat guy won another one by completely dominating the LOS and running the ball at will. Shame on me for thinking Purdue got the better hire 5 years ago when Minny also hit the market for a coach.
  10. I see the finest athletic programming in the state, Summit City Sports, will be airing the East Noble / Leo game. I'll be tuning in.
  11. Agreed. At this point I'm expecting Merrillville to once again lose to Westfield; however, this year I won't be surprised if they actually beat Westfield. Their speed and athleticism in the passing game will be huge. They don't need to try beating Westfield running the ball, which is not easy to do against the 'Rocks D Line. My opinion, Maximus Webester and Micah Hauser will make it tough for anyone to beat Westfield in the North. Those two have so much experience and are such high IQ football players. I really enjoy watching them. Whether it's Merrillville, Warsaw, Caroll, Homestead, or HSE, it'll take a lot of points on the board to beat Westfield because that due is nearly impossible to keep out of the endzone.
  12. Actually, I looked into it further. Jimbo's buyout is completely one sided. LSU's wouldn't have to pay a dime to A&M. How ironic that Woodward didnt' put a two way buyout into Jimbo's A&M salary and now has the chance to re-hire him in Baton Rouge. https://247sports.com/Article/LSU-coaching-search-misconception-about-Jimbo-Fisher-sizable-buyout-at-Texas-AM-173381238/
  13. My neighbor is an Iowa grad from Sioux City. I haven't asked him yet if he brought back the beer I asked him to get me from a brewery I like in Iowa City. Wouldn't blame him if he dumped it on his way back. After that W I'm even more bitter about that awful loss to Minnesota.
  14. Agreed. And I wonder if he would be make a huge mistake in leaving Lexington. He's been able to use his Ohio connections to recruit will in Ohio to go along with getting some good recruits out of Kentucky and the South. In Lexington he won't get fired for losing 1-4 games per season. The expectations will be really high if he leaves for a better job.
  15. Jimbo Fisher has to be #1. LSU's current AD was the AD at Texas A&M who hired Fisher. I'd be willing to bet he's already called every power broker LSU has to round up the cash for Jimbo's buyout. If not Fisher, I'm curious to see see if they would try an up and comer like Napier or hold steady for a big name.
  16. I've only been able to watch the Valpo / Merrillville game this year. What are your thoughts on Michigan City? If they can get by presumably Concord / Mishawaka in the Sectional Final, can they take down Valpo in a rematch? Juding from the first game it looks like Valpo pulled way in the 4th quarter. I know Michigan City has one of the top Sophomore offensive playmakers in the state in Jaden Hart and Giovani Laurent is also a playmake at WR. I wouldn't be surprised if Phil Mason gest the Wolves back to the Semi-State.
  17. Ha, well, the crowd was predominantly white males. I'm told they deserve every atrocity that comes their way, so the mob probably OK's the comments.
  18. That's a well earned comment from Rodgers. I'm hoping this is really his last run with Green Bay.
  19. YIKES..... "The Athletic reports Orgeron also made advances on a woman at a gas station, who then told him she was married and pregnant. He then responded, "Why does that matter?" The woman ended up being the wife of a high-ranking LSU official."
  20. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/10/11/league-likely-would-have-kept-leaking-emails-until-jon-gruden-was-out/
  21. I have no problem with Gruden being fired. I just enjoy the hypocrisy of who is going to be singing the halftime show. Plenty of misogynistic and homophobic lyrics in their past.
  22. Am I the only one who finds it ironic that Gruden gets fired the same season the NFL hired Dre, Snoop, and Eminem among others to play the Super Bowl half time show? Too funny. Grudens emails were love letters compared to the lyrical work of those 3.
  23. Interesting. Two questions though: 1. Would you leave for greener pastures IF he turned Purdue into a consistant 8-9 team win? 2: Would he leave a cush NFL gig to coach at a perennial Big 10 bottom feeder?
