  1. Field conditions were the same for both teams. I guess some have forgotten how football was conducted before field turf. It brought back memories of some great games in worse conditions than that. Oh and the Irish lost the game on two fine plays, they didn't give the game away. The made the big plays when the game was on the line. Hats off to the Trojans. They're tough to beat!
  2. The officiating was not good for either team tonight. That's the best explanation I can give. Lots of missed calls and a lot of curious calls.
  3. Great game between two very good teams, as expected. CG offense came up with two big plays against an outstanding Cathedral defense and won the game. Now it's on to the beginning of the trophy season. It was the first time the Irish didn't score a TD in a game since 2015 against CG. Score of that game was 7-0. I think both sides would agree that the officiating was totally subpar. No home cooking for the Irish tonight.
  4. I'll be there in a couple hours myself. I sure hope to see a lot of Irish fans at the tailgate and the game, rain or no rain. I just hope we don't have to deal with any lightning delays.
  5. It's annual game of the century game day. I just hope we don't have to deal with lightning tonight. Anyway, stay dry and enjoy the game. It should be a good one. We've been very blest to have had dry weather for the first 8 games this season.
  6. I also will send prayers to the Mater Dei family. And it is truly heartbreaking.
  7. I really don't pay much attention to the classification until the next season begins after what Bobby Cox pulled on Cathedral a couple of years ago. A team can go up or down on a moment's notice, or so it seems.
  8. I was told at the end of last year, by someone I consider a credible source, that Cathedral would be in 5A for two more years. You can take that for what's it's worth.
  9. WHMB will be carrying the game, tape delayed, at 10PM here in Indy. I imagine you can access their site and watch it online at 7PM. I believe that TV23 only shows MIC games iirc.
  10. This old Irish fan isn't staying home unless the game gets postponed because of lightning. I've sat through games in worse weather conditions than those predicted. Besides, I already have a ticket.
  11. Frank goes for 4th down early in games, but he's been is not good at closing out games. This isn't the first time he's gone conservative too early. Once you back off, it's very difficult to get it going again. Also I had forgotten the decision to go for two after the 3rd TD. It was way too early to worry about the previous missed XP, and that one point would have won the game. This game was just a gigantic clusterbleep!
  12. Lets get this straight, neither team "likes" to lose! The only thing they're playing for is pride and a bit of bragging rights. Whoever loses, doesn't go home. That's what makes next weeks game more important. Hardware and a 2nd game is at stake starting next week.
  13. I've never been much of a Gruden fan, so it's good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
  14. IMHO, it will be difficult for the Colts to finish at .500. That was a terrible loss.
  15. The defense was in a loose "prevent" in the third quarter after taking the 22-3 lead. It's been a Frank characteristic to pull the plug early when building a nice lead. It hasn't happened much this season, but he does it out of habit, I guess. Frank gets conservative quite often. And when you get right down to it, the kicker cost 'em the game, missing an extra point after the 2nd score and of course missing the las FG try. If he was truly injured, you are correct that they shouldn't have been playing for a FG to win the game. But that's my opinion, yours might vary.
  16. Last night's loss was the worst loss in the 37 year history of the Indianapolis Colts. Frank needs to put away the "prevent" defense when his team gets a "comfortable" lead and he needs to find a new kicker. Going for a two point conversion when up 22-3 was wrong. The two missed extra points and the missed field goal was the difference in the game. Frank's a nice man and a decent X&O coach, but he doesn't know how to win when having a lead. This wasn't the first time this has happened.
  17. Reminds me of George Sefchick back in the 1960's, Joe Perkowski missed a field goal against Syracuse and the Orange are flagged for running over little George the holder. I'm guessing that was 1962. I hate trying to work from my old memory, but I was in ND Stadium that day.
  18. And Bob always does a fine job because he loves high school sports. He is the voice of Friday & Saturday night. He had some health problems a year or so back that kind of slowed him down, but he should be around as long as he wants to.
  19. Amen!

Texas A&M is kicking a FG with 1 second to play to beat #1 Alabama. it's only 28 yards. It's good! #1 goes down 41-38.
