  1. Since most fans are unable to attend, will this game be broadcast or streamed anywhere? I was told, as of Monday, it's still up in the air if Cathedral's broadcast team can attend.
  2. Yep. I'll be watching ok, from my recliner. I guess I'll just have to get outside and do more yard work.😟
  3. I had a friend who lived in the area of the Lincoln Park Zoo. Loved it! I haven't been in that area since he moved to the 'burbs. I made it a point to get to the Zoo whenever I was up there to watch the Cubs.
  4. I totally agree! It's going to be tough to miss games. I haven't been to a live sporting event since the sectionals in February! My wife wishes I would find something to go to. I will be attending the Indy 500, if it takes place. Nothing's sure nowadays.
  5. It may not matter to some of us when the season is played. I've been told that there will be few spectators allowed at games and I take that to believe that just families will be attending the games. I hope most are streamed or televised or at least broadcast. I haven't missed many games in many years, but I understand the reasons for this. I hope everyone is staying safe!
  6. I bet the families of the 120,000+ dead folks would disagree with you. There's no bigger fan than me but I don't want anyone to suffer a serious illness or just to fulfill my fun fantasies. I hope I'm wrong but I'm still worried that we won't see our beloved football this fall.
  7. Cathedral's Kendall Coleman has signed an UDFA contract with the Colts: https://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/2020/04/ex-syracuse-de-kendall-coleman-to-sign-with-hometown-indianapolis-colts.html
  8. It's a shame! RIP, Paul!
  9. They should be at home with the rest of society!🤬
  10. Absolutely! It's a shame neither really had a chance to show their talents in college. Otis is doing quite well in his life now. I've had a chance to talk to him a few times in the last couple of years. He's a happy family man.
  11. I'd put him at Notre Dame on either side of the ball. But then I'm a bit biased.
  12. Without a doubt the greatest single game individual performance was by Cathedral's Otis Shannon at Cincinnati LaSalle in 1999. Otis ran for a then state record 489 yards in a game against an outstanding opponent, on their home field. Cathedral trailed in the game 14-0 before they ran an offensive play, but came back to win 34-24. Otis probably had another 50 yards or more called back by penalties.
  13. I'm unable to register to get the story. Could you please give me a synopsis of the article. I knew that the hospitalized survivor was Mario's brother. Thank you!
  14. Color me naïve. Skin pigmentation matters more to some but not as much to others. When you're on the 3 yard line with a few seconds left and one last chance to win a game, talent matters more than color of the player's skin.
  15. Nothing to report so far. I hope some news is forthcoming. Details seem to be sketchy.
  16. That's your opinion, but a bit far fetched, imo. There has to be other factors beyond that. I understand the history of New Pal but I just don't think a D1 program thinks that way. If some young man can help they offer and recruit 'em.
  17. May I ask why you believe that Charlie Spegal didn't get many D1 offers? He was sure outstanding on the field!
  18. This core of players only won two state championships. They lost to Plainfield in the sectional their senior year, 2000 after winning in '98 and '99. This was a fun team to watch for sure but the 1996 Cathedral team was unbeaten state champions. Also that year the Irish JV and Freshman teams were also unbeaten. Maybe not as many high D1 recruits or NFL stars, but they were an outstanding team.
  19. Actually McLaurin's participation in an OSU camp is the real reason he was offered and played there. He showed his skills at a high level and the Buckeye coaches understood what he had to offer. He sure was fun to watch in high school!
  20. If I find out any details, I will make sure and post them here. As of now nothing much other than the other reports are available.
  21. It wasn't the only time that a clock malfunctioned at the end of a game when we played in Ohio. It seemed it was a common occurrence.

  23. My wish has been granted. Bobby Cox has resigned.

  25. 2011, Cathedral at Cincinnati Moeller. Cathedral leads most of the game and the stadium clock goes out late in the game. Moeller scores late in the game for what appeared to be the game winner. No one in the stadium, but the officials on the field, knew how much time was left. Moeller kicks off and it goes into the end zone for a touchback. The Irish have the ball on their own 20 yard line with 17 seconds left, which we found out later. Irish QB Cory Babb threw a long pass downfield and it was caught at the Moeller 23 yard line. Still no one knew how much time was left but we found out later that there was 1 second left. Cathedral place kicker Drake Myers lined up for a 40 yard field goal attempt. It was Myers first varsity field goal attempt. The regular Irish kicker had been excused from the team during the previous week. Well he put the kick right down the middle and Cathedral won 26-24. It was a miracle!
