  1. Nothing to report so far. I hope some news is forthcoming. Details seem to be sketchy.
  2. That's your opinion, but a bit far fetched, imo. There has to be other factors beyond that. I understand the history of New Pal but I just don't think a D1 program thinks that way. If some young man can help they offer and recruit 'em.
  3. May I ask why you believe that Charlie Spegal didn't get many D1 offers? He was sure outstanding on the field!
  4. This core of players only won two state championships. They lost to Plainfield in the sectional their senior year, 2000 after winning in '98 and '99. This was a fun team to watch for sure but the 1996 Cathedral team was unbeaten state champions. Also that year the Irish JV and Freshman teams were also unbeaten. Maybe not as many high D1 recruits or NFL stars, but they were an outstanding team.
  5. Actually McLaurin's participation in an OSU camp is the real reason he was offered and played there. He showed his skills at a high level and the Buckeye coaches understood what he had to offer. He sure was fun to watch in high school!
  6. If I find out any details, I will make sure and post them here. As of now nothing much other than the other reports are available.
  7. It wasn't the only time that a clock malfunctioned at the end of a game when we played in Ohio. It seemed it was a common occurrence.

  9. My wish has been granted. Bobby Cox has resigned.
  10. Fox59 report: https://fox59.com/news/cathedral-football-player-killed-in-shooting-that-left-two-dead-and-one-injured/
  11. 2011, Cathedral at Cincinnati Moeller. Cathedral leads most of the game and the stadium clock goes out late in the game. Moeller scores late in the game for what appeared to be the game winner. No one in the stadium, but the officials on the field, knew how much time was left. Moeller kicks off and it goes into the end zone for a touchback. The Irish have the ball on their own 20 yard line with 17 seconds left, which we found out later. Irish QB Cory Babb threw a long pass downfield and it was caught at the Moeller 23 yard line. Still no one knew how much time was left but we found out later that there was 1 second left. Cathedral place kicker Drake Myers lined up for a 40 yard field goal attempt. It was Myers first varsity field goal attempt. The regular Irish kicker had been excused from the team during the previous week. Well he put the kick right down the middle and Cathedral won 26-24. It was a miracle!
  12. This is truly sad! I didn't know Mario but enjoyed watching him play. You could see that he was a hard working young man. RIP, Irishman!
  13. No D1 teams should ever have to play on a field like yesterday at Stanford! In this age of Field Turf, it's about time that all D1 school must install Field Turf. Painted dirt ain't grass! BTW, it took the Irish a long while to get into the mood for some serious football. Not throwing the ball to Claypool is a mortal sin, imho!
  14. I hope all have a blessed Thanksgiving day! I'll hopefully be visiting again next season, the good Lord willing.
  15. A scuffling first half but a dominant second half for the Irish today. They built on a 16-7 halftime lead and won 40-7. Next up the Irish will be at Stanford next Saturday to close the regular season.
  16. Nice game for the Irish yesterday. They normally have trouble with Navy but not yesterday and this was a ranked Middie team.
  17. I invite all to attend an Irish tailgate next season! All are welcome, oh and we have trash bags to clean up after ourselves, which we do.
  18. It was Cathedral controlling the game until midway through the 3rd quarter. The Irish had the ball on the 10 yard line looking like they were going to add to a 10-7 lead, and then the bottom fell out after not being able to finish off another drive. It just snowballed from there. It was a very good season for the Irish that ended in such a sudden fashion that it was head spinning. Orin Edwards was an outstanding QB who had one bad game and that was tonight. New Pal had a lot to do with that with their bend but don't break defense. They got the stops in the red zone. Actually the Irish may have thrown a few passes too many tonight. The running game seen to be in gear but it seemed the Irish just went away from it at times. Spegal is the real deal. No one for many years has run for over 280 against the Irish. He seemed invisible at times. He got outside way too many times and when he did he was gone, or at least got a big hunk of yards. It will be tough for any team to stop him as he went against a pretty good defense and looked like a true all stater. Good luck to the Dragons, although I don't think they'll need it as long as they have #32.
  19. Dress warmly and I hope to see a lot of Irish fans tonight!
  20. Yeah, who needs a concession stand when the there's an outstanding tailgate with all the fixings! Only if it's cooked.😋
  21. I'm a fisherman. I know where all the good fishing waters are in Martin and Daviess counties. No time for golf.
  22. This is a good story! My doctor's son was very sick just a few years ago, needed a bone marrow transplant to help him get well. Well, the bone marrow transplant worked and he now plays football at Zionsville. His name is Camden Cooper, and he went from patient in the hospital to hero on the football field in a few short years. He caught the winning TD against Brownsburg. BTW, it was his only TD reception of the season, so far. Good luck to the Eagles Friday night!!!!
  23. A lot of silliness, and even some bigotry, in this thread. I really appreciate the interest and I believe it's well founded. This is all about the game. It is one of the most anticipated games in quite awhile. I hope it's a good time for both sides. That being said, these are the kind of games that young men come to Cathedral to play football. Win or lose, and I hope it's win, I hope the Irish play their best, no excuses! It's been a fun season so far and tomorrow will continue to be fun, at least from my viewpoint. I have expectations but I'll keep them to myself. GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Well, when I was younger I used to party a lot and I've never been a golfer. My partying now is restricted to the Cathedral tailgate.😊 I love Martin and Daviess Counites!😊
