Souths senior inside backer hurt his hamstring tonight but they still blasted castle 32-6 . Souths rb broke the bhss all time rushing record tonight.. South has a pretty good d line . One guy going to miami of ohio. Since Moriarity returned to south they have won their 6th straight sectional title a couple regional's in there but not really been a threat to win state except for 2014 when they lost to cathedral in overtime in semistate (cathedral dominated laporte the next week at state) A lot of things have changed in bloomington since the early 2000's ( redistricting , school 'board etc etc. ) and they just don';t seem to pull in the kids they should be (historically have, live closer common sense to bhss) pulling in with the district changes . Been a learning curve as a fan to try and figure it all out. Those things were super important back in the day when we were a top 10 program year in year out . Just seems like we are just going to be a regional champ every now and then and get smashed at semistate. Modern era at bhss i guess .

12-6 bhss at half. Sounds like a real penalty ridden chippy game so far. Souths mav Thierry all 5 foot 5 of him got the all time south rushing record in the first half . . Stay tuned to see who gets the w . -

I think he needs over 110 yards the ht was wrong. He may not get it tonight -

South has a nice backfield of senior Rb's as well as some pretty good senior receivers , given castles int total on the year and souths lack of experience at the qb position I would expect to see a run first approach tonight until something opens up in the passing game . South also has a kicker that has hit some clutch fg's from distance this year . Play bend but dont break d and bring hone a sectional title . Good luck to the Panthers . -

Zoysia grass can look pretty sweet too. Maybe not far enough south for zoysia to survive the winters. -

Out of curiosity i wonder what type of grass they have ? Cool season grasses grow in the transition zone but the southwest corner of the state is not in that zone. If i were to ever start my own business i thought lawn renovation and athletic field renovation and maintenance would be it. Love the turf type tall fescues they have created nowadays. Undoubtedly castle and area schools are using blugrass most likely .. -

Awful quiet here since Tuesday. Looks like around game time we will be dipping into freezing temps. The turf probably hasn't dried out from yesterdays rains. Could make things interesting. I still don't want to predict a winner here. Obviously i favor bhss but castle with a big w last week. Both teams beat teams that beat each other so no need to get into comparing wins and scores. Wish i could make this one .... . .. ... . .. . . .. The pressbox will be stuffed with at least three radio announcer teams . Mediafive sports which may be affiliated with wyir , wgcl (bloomington), wvni (bloomington) all have online links . I wanted online streaming video but guess it isnt going to happen. I listened to media five's (wjps) last week so i didnt have to hear the b town radio guys 'gushing' over bloomington norths team. They seem to favor bhsn in town here. Was nice to hear a different perspective. Well stay warm folks. -

Any FC fan familiar with the reason why there are no visitor stands? Any plans to put some in? From google maps it looks as though there is not much room but probably enough to put a small maybe long instead of deep bleacher .. . . . . -

Out of curiosity does fc have visiting stands? As a fan of the game I follow hhc a bit and if fc and bhss both win they will meet at bhss in the regional. So bhss wont even be playing there if the two teams were to win. I had been told fc had nice facilities but didnt have a visitors stands . The teams have never played on the football field. I would like to see the matchup. -

tournament protocol i don't like. Castle High School and Bloomington South will have met 4 times in the ihsaa tournament after this friday and every matchup will have been played at castle. The previous match ups were in the regional round which i believe the protocol is that the bottom bracket is the home team or the team that has not had a home game yet. Which is not a good protocol imo. Default for the regional i think equates to the sectional that is north in the regional bracket is always going to have to travel south if the south team had to play on the road or whichever team had less home games or something like that. This year they are meeting in the sectional final and again are driving all the way to castle . If south wins and jeffersonville beats floyd then south is on the road to jeffersonville again another long drive. I think the protocol needs to be rethought at this point. -

Better team always wins I believe it. The team with the point advantage at the end of any contest is the better team. Team includes coaches & players . Or shall we say program which includes coaches & players . -

Best team wins sometimes the best team has more of a desire to win they tell me anyways . A lot of factors are involved as a spectator I'm not familiar with the entirety of both programs so I cant say my prediction would be accurate . Hall of fame coach on one sideline and a roster that almost all of the players have never lost a sectional final . Lots of experience . . . . . May be the decider may not be also. . . . .. . Weather forecast may be a factor as well . -
Possible Regional Final Match-ups. Castle [7-4] at Jeffersonville [5-6] Floyd Central [9-2] at Bloomington South [7-4] Castle [7-4] at Floyd Central [9-2] Bloomington South [7-4] at Jeffersonville [5-6] Neither team will look past each other this is just for the fans. Personally i would love to see floyd central make the trip up to b town. The two schools have never played at football.

I believe the better team always wins . At this point In the season you are who you are, south has been inconsistent at times . I really wanted to see more from them week 9 at chatard they could not make it a contest and i really think they should have put up more if a effort . Another tidbit. Souths' rb needs 118 yards to become the all time career leading rusher at bhss/bhs. I hope he would rather have a w than the record. -

No doubt they can win. South will have to put in their best effort hard to beat a team twice and so much more on the line than week 1 . -

On a side note this will be the seventh straight sectional final appearance for bhss and 'if' bhss wins ,it will be their sixth straight sectional title . They have won 5 in a row, been a couple restructurings of their sectional during that time ,these teams have not been in the same sectional since the 1980's I believe. But in 83 they met in the regional all meetings prior to this year have been at castle and in the regional round . Would have been nice to see it played in Bloomington for the tourney. -

@CAKnights. Nah I can't make it. I thought the two year tourney games from 2015 and 2016 were good for the schools programs. It was fun too come down for those , ate at beef o bradys and had some Starbucks afterwards for the long ride home. Week one this year was sort of a blinding deer in the headlights I thought for castle. The teams are what they are at this point not much you can hide when your playing for a sectional title. The best team will win , at this point comes down to who has put in more work . Castle still has a grass field? From what i have seen from highlights online the knights have a good secondary 4 picks against bhsn and several against reitz are what i have seen . Souths qb has only started 5 games i believe . Castle sounded like they have trouble in the kicking game south has had a really good field goal kicker this year . Certainly feels like this will be a closer game than week one. Souths win over e north was good but had e north not committed 6 turnovers we would probably have had a closer game. The huskys moved the ball well at times . -

Im sure they both predicted a bhss win in 2015 also . I have seen it happen two times in the last decade where bhss lost to martinsville in the regular season in a blowout and came back and beat martinsville in the tourney. In my mind it comes down to who has been better on average all season long. South has probably faced a tougher schedule and will be playing to win their 6th straight sectional title. I have a hard time picking this one . Could go wither way i will pick south by a point.
