Hammond Central @ Pioneer- This one will come down to toughness and overall depth. If the Panthers dont get worn down by sheer 5A numbers I like their chances. LaVille @ Caston- Your gut be wrong because Caston be bad... Laville by whatever their offense can muster because Caston wont score on them... Triton @ Culver- Dont know much about either team yet but I'll take the Trojans. Glenn @ Knox- I like Knox by a couple of scores. Winamac @ North Judson- I'll take the Warriors off the bye week. Sidebar: Why didn't Winamac go pick up a team last week with LaVille out? I figured with their best team in recent years they would want to test themselves against some tougher competition prior to the tournament.

Congrats to the Panthers for picking up their first win of the season over a very good Laville team. Defense needed tightening up, but I was very impressed with the offense for only practicing the new look since Wednesday.

Pioneer will only have 17 kids at practice today. Pioneer schools has been on virtual learning all week due to too many teachers being close Covid contacts.

Found out at 330 that 3 more just went into quarantine…

Panthers should have 2-3 players back this week, but still down 4-5.

According to Harrell’s site Pioneer is out 7 starters ( all 2 way players) tonight versus Winamac. Kudos to Pioneer for showing up to compete. They’ll probably bring less than 20 kids to the game tonight.

Pioneer picked up Indianapolis Scecina for this Friday night. Glad both teams could get this scheduled so quickly under the circumstances.

LaVille at Bremen- LaVille- curious to see how LaVille is without several of their mainstays from the last few years at the skill positions. Lewis Cass at Pioneer- Pioneer- Lewis Cass will be improved over last year in a game that will help the Panthers find their identity before the take on Winamac next week. NJSP at Culver Community- Judson- Blue Jays have a lot to replace, but a steady dose of tailback Allen should put them on top. West Central at Caston- Caston- Comets improve this year as they go into year 2 under the new regime. Winamac at Knox- Winamac- In a week one game that could have major implications in who is the conference champ, I see the Warriors coming out on top. Winamac is the preseason favorite to win conference and will be well coached and prepared for every game. It looked like the redskins quit on Coach Radtke in his first year at the helm, and if they still haven't bought in to his coaching this could be a long night for Knox.

Yeah its super awesome when harvest comes around and you are screaming at players because they cant hear you as the combine makes another lap...

I think the nod has to go to Andrean as the 2A team to beat. I think that Andrean would be better prepared to face Luers' spread passing attack than what they faced against Pioneer running a traditional Wing-t that they don't face in the course of the regular season.

Both Lewellens graduated as well as several other two way players.

Pioneer is way to high. We lost a ton to graduation last year and until these new guys prove themselves we shouldn't even be considered as a top team.

LCC is 2A.

Adams Central has one of the nicest grass fields regardless of class (do 4a and above have grass anymore??) in the state. We played there in the 2016 1A Semistate and after 14 weeks of games it was still beautiful. I would take a nice grass field over turf any day.

I apologize if I missed this elsewhere, but is this just a one year alignment until a full enrollment can be performed? Looks to me like LCC just replaced Webo who also bumped up a class and everything else stayed pat. Pretty simple solution for a 1 year deal if its the case.

Just saw that Pioneer picked up the newly formed 5A Hammond Central for week 5. I was getting nervous they wouldn't find anyone, but this will be a great matchup to prepare them for the 2A tournament.

Could be worse... you could be the Logansport Berries and have Felix the cat be your mascot.
