The picture was taken around 8/14/2020. The maintenance staff has done a pretty good job overall keeping up with it. What you cant see in the picture is the trail of dead grass spots where it is bare dirt from mole runs all along the visitor sideline. Losing in the first round of sectionals last year really helped the maintenance staff get a head start on the field this off season 🙂

Some people call The Pit the best field in Royal Center, some call it the Taj Mahal of the west... But yes, the grass will probably be long, not to slow Chesterton down, just because our field is what the rest of the state calls awful.

I believe Cass picked up South Adams for week 2.

Pioneer has installed new obstacles this season with the addition of mole runs. Sadly, this is not sarcasm. There are bare dirt spots (earlier than normal this year) from moles allowed to run rampant on the visitor sideline. During our self scrimmage this season we could only use half of the field because a mole trap was never removed by our maintenance staff.

No idea as of yet. I was really looking forward to the Laville Pioneer matchup this year. Would have been a slugfest. Guess we'll have to hope for a sectional matchup...

They are young, but they have Clay Mannering on as head coach who has been coaching at the college level for a few years. Clay also has a hall of fame coach roaming the sidelines in his father Scott. Cass will be well coached and ready to play every Friday.

LaVille also cancelled their week 3 game against Pioneer. Noticed on Harrell's site their week 2 game is still scheduled. Surely they are cancelled week 2 as well correct?

Winamac at Pioneer cancelled next week to to quarantine of Winamac players.

Very good job on getting something scheduled this fast, I just don't think Southwood will be able to compete with Knox.

I'm not saying that he can't say it. I just wonder what benefit the comment provides to the rest of the conversation. Everyone knows that there is a very real possibility that this week and every other week may not be played depending on the decision makers and the situations from school to school, and it gets really frustrating that it keeps getting brought up in every conversation. Serious question. Should visiting teams not be allowed to use the home teams locker rooms? Go back to the old junior high/ youth league days where players show up in game pants and get prepped on the sideline?

But how will the bro coaches chest bump the players??????

I'm assuming since it is unsafe for these student athletes to compete in sports that the universities will be shutting down this fall and not allowing students on campus? These players are safer being with their teams than the kids on campus crammed into dorms and into their non social distanced frat houses and classrooms.

Not a ref, but this is what I bought for practice while being masked up. These are nice because you can yell and stop a play at the same time 🙂
