Suspended or cancelled season
FarmerFran replied to Football Guru 25's topic in Gridiron Out of Bounds's Out of Bound Forum
I couldn’t imagine starting a football season in Indiana in February... We would have a hard time practicing since we wouldn’t get support to plow the field at Pioneer! -
So, if we tested the population for flu as heavily as we are testing for Covid you don’t think numbers would be higher? Covid is no more a death sentence than the flu. My question was to find out if these kids were knowingly around others with Covid and then attended the events or if they were symptomatic which led to the testing. It matters because parents and children were knowingly negligent or it was an honest mistake. Regardless of shutdowns and cancellations, kids will be kids and will do the same damn things. People weren’t born to stay in captivity. Especially kids.

They are back to practice 8/3. They’ve been shut down since 7/21. They’ll be ready for Cass week 1.

Football/School Start Date
FarmerFran replied to Football Guru 25's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Its just funny how we are talking about limiting attendance at IHSAA games, when I have seen and been to several baseball games this season with packed stands and everything else. Only thing missing was the concession stand (actually had to cook this summer...). This summer has gone on as normal, albeit started later, for these sports, but it is magically going to be strikingly different when school starts? Gimme a break. The best thing for these kids is to get them back into a normal routine. If you're scared stay home and let the rest of us do the living. Don't drag the rest of us down with you. -
Who are the guy that you think will be breakout players for your team this year? For Pioneer, I expect junior Brock Robinson to be a 2-way stand out at DB as well as at running back. He will be competing for touches with the Lewellen boys, but is very good with the ball in his hands. Pioneer will also be starting freshman Cayden Hill at QB and potentially at DB as well. He has some maturing to do mentally, but should be able to help out more and more as the season progresses.

IHSAA 8 Man Football Proposal
FarmerFran replied to gahoosierfan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
From a funding standpoint, how does the 8 man differ from 11 man? Same equipment/supply costs, still have to pay coaches, refs, etc. I would assume most of these schools have a field of some sort inside of their track, but who knows what upgrades or updates are needed. Logistically, I just don't see how schools that have made the choice not to play 11 man football for years can make the financial commitment for 8 man when it clearly hasn't been important to them. Remember, expressing interest is not the same as actually signing up and playing. -

I wonder, with the emphasis on individual drink containers, if the IHSAA looks at having built in hydration timeouts during games especially early on in the heat.

Minnich Field, Adams Central High School
FarmerFran replied to Robert's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Pioneer played here in a monsoon of a 1A semistate game in 2016. It had the best playing surface we played on all year. Compared to our dirt field we get to play on for every home game their field was immaculate. -
Corona and Fall Sports

Class 1A-3A would not be able to field those numbers.... -
Nice view on RPO's from Sarkisian.

new year new ideas and some old ones
FarmerFran replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Get rid of the non-contact days at the beginning of the actual practice season. I hate going from limited contact in shoulder pads and helmets in your competition days during the summer to helmets only to start the season. -
Pioneer is looking for a week 5 Varsity opponent for the 2021 season. If interested please reach out to head coach Adam Berry at berrya@pioneer.k12.in.us

Bigger factor is probably having 2 different head coaches in 2 years due to some questionable administration choices. This is not the thread or place to argue this topic (has been done repeatedly elsewhere). My prediction is Coach Nay and the Knights get it done. Past experience has no bearing on it in my opinion, with these kids being in Jr. High the last time they were there. I think the knights coaching and their ability to make adjustments on the fly will lead them to another blue ring.
