Roncalli vs. Cathedral at Butler Bowl

Doubtful with the Victory Bell on the line and Coach Peebles being a Cathedral graduate. He will make it very known how important keeping the Victory Bell is in the rivalry. -

Look for a 31-7, 35-7, 35-10 type of game. -

My "OH MY" (Many OH MY"s)
FastpacedO replied to Tippy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
My "Oh Wow" that may not be worthy to most. He was talked about quite frequently early in his career as a Head Coach. Not many mention him nearly as much, but he still has quite the impressive coaching record. New Palestine Kyle Ralph 12 season at New Pal and a record of 133-14 (8 of those losses have been the last 3 seasons). 12 years and only 14 losses is pretty impressive. -

Center Grove vs. Cathedral at Marian U.
FastpacedO replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
On a side note it could also be stated that CYO Indianapolis is the original Pipeline to Cathedral (opened in 1919) and Sacred Heart. In the 60’s the archdiocese built and opened Scecina, Chatard, Chartrand (became Kennedy then merged with Sacred Heart to become Roncalli), and Ritter. So when PhJIndy says legacy students some are grand children and great grandchildren of Cathedral grads even if their parish feeds to Scecina, Chatard, Roncalli, or Ritter. Those have parish schools have been feeders to Cathedral for 105 years. -

Majority of them come from CYO schools near the school North Deanery. A few from west and east deanery schools on occasion a south deanery. There are also kids that attend from Public schools on the Northeast and North side. Not all participate in athletics. It still amazes me the plethora of talent on that Northeast side of Indianapolis and the schools in close proximity (Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, Chatard, Cathedral, Heritage Christian, North Central) all really close to each other. -

JV game might be on Center Groves YouTube page or football website (I haven’t checked). I haven’t watched the Irish frosh yet, but from what I am hearing and the results are showing the Irish future is very bright mixing those Freshman with the current Sooh’s and Juniors currently producing for Varsity. last night probably wasn’t fun for defensive fans or for the CG fans because of the narrow loss. For those that like Offense though Coach Moore and Coach Peebles offensive players played very well. The difference in the game really was the Irish defense got a couple of stops when they needed at the end with some INT’s definitely was a battle between 2 very good teams -

Scary thing is Chatard has a lot of young players contributing. They have a very good Sophomore class that will do well in 4A the next 3 years. -

New Palestine is not at the caliber they were in 2018-2019 which was a top 5 team regardless of class (as evidenced by their wins over top 6A Center Grove). They are however a very good 4A title contender and also would be a title contender in 5A. New Pal and Chatard are what I would consider the favorites of 4A. A game between the 2 of them would be a pick-em in my opinion having watched both play. -

There have been cases of teams with very weak strength of schedule that were dominant in spite of a weak schedule 2023 4A East Central 2022 4A East Central 2019 5A New Palestine 2018 5A New Palestine 2017 5A Columbus East 4A Columbus East i could say (and I am sure many Columbus East fans will agree) Columbus East has had one of the weaker schedules (no fault of their own their conference just wasn’t good). They really only had Columbus North that was good. That didn’t stop them in 2017 smacking Cathedral 42-13 in Semi-State on their way to a State Championship. That 2017 Cathedral team had a very strong schedule (St. X KY, Detroit King, Pickerington Central OH, St. X OH, Ryle KY, St. Ed’s OH, Center Grove). It just did not matter Columbus East was that good. Even with Stepp healthy at RB Columbus East would have beat Cathedral. You knew they were going to run the ball on you and they did just that. -
Greenwood exploring conference change
FastpacedO replied to crimsonace1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would like to see New Palestine in the Mid-State conference for football. I know there is more than football so I understand why they are in the Hoosier Heritage. I just think it would be cool to have them in the Mid-State -
No this is year 1 of the cycle so Cathedral is in 6A for 24'-25' and 25'-26" seasons. So in the event LN beats Cathedral in Sectional it would give Cathedral a score of 0, however Cathedral in 25'-26' could win a sectional and regional giving them the 3 points to remain in 6A. SO it would come down to next seasons results

Calpreps has Columbia City at 31. I took the top 10 from 4A vs top 10 5A from Calpreps rankings through the projections on Calpreps. It was intriguing to say the least and we would never see the results. The projections give a Regular season and a playoff result and give you the percentage. There are a few pick-ems. Now these are not my picks just what came from the projection on Calpreps. Calpreps own projections are at 81.3% of all games played in Indiana so far. 1. Chatard Vs Concord = Chatard 87% Regular 90% Playoffs 2. New Palestine Vs East Central = New Pal 65% Regular East Central 57% Playoff 3. Roncalli Vs Decatur Central = Roncalli 53% Regular Decatur Central 53% Playoff 4. Martinsville Vs Merrillville = Martinsville 62% Regular 57% Playoff 5. Brebeuf Vs Laf Jeff =Brebeuf 73% Regular 60% Playoff 6. Mishawaka Vs Plainfield = Plainfield 53% Regular Mishawaka 53% Playoff 7. Columbia City Vs Castle = Columbia City 65% Regular 62% Playoff 8. East Noble Vs Whiteland = East Noble 59% Regular 65% Playoff 9. Leo Vs Valparaiso = Valparaiso 53% Regular Leo 53% Playoff 10. Northwood Vs Bloomington South = Bloomington South 61% Regular Northwood 53% Playoff -

I don't use Sagarin because it only calculates games against Indiana opponents and is flawed. Calpreps is down right now and is far more accurate. I only used Sagarin a a base for a top 10 to compare the 2 classes and with Calpreps down it was not available. -

I know this was not my post. I did take Roncalli over DC. Decatur Central has always had talent but they can be so up and down it is hard to gauge them. They do on occasion play undisciplined at times and can get some untimely Personal Foul penalties. I picked Roncalli because 1) Roncalli is much improved over last year 2) Roncalli won't beat themselves and has very good discipline. I take Roncalli by the slimmest of margins instead of making it a pick-em. DC definitely has loads of potential. The manner they lost to Columbus North and the comeback they allowed Martinsville to have to beat them were head scratchers. -

Like I said depends on the Top 10. The one I find most accurate Calpreps is down right now. If looking at Sagarin. 1. New Palestine Vs. East Central - I definitely could say pick-em but EC graduated a lot from last year 2. Chatard Vs. Decatur Central 3. Columbia City Vs. Castle 4. Roncalli Vs. Concord 5. Martinsville Vs. Laff Jeff - Pick-em 6. East Noble Vs. Merrillville 7. Mishawaka Vs. Plainfield 8. Brebeuf Vs. Bloomington North 9. Greenfield Central Vs. Bloomington South 10. Ev Reitz Vs Whiteland - Pick-em -

I am not 100% sure on the 8-10. depending on what top 10 we are looking at. If given 5A Bloomington North, Bloomington South, and Whiteland vs 4A Brebeuf Jesuit, Greenfield Central, Evansville Reitz. I might take 4A in 2 out of 3. -

Right now the difference between Sagarin and Calpreps is negligible. One takes out of state opponents into consideration the other doesn’t. Outside of the top 2 (Brownsburg and Westfield) it is a crap shoot on ranking the rest. You can pretty much toss the teams in a hat and pull them out and be somewhat accurate. i would say it is interesting beyond 2 because of matchups (strengths and weaknesses of teams).
