  1. I am not so sure I would say Whiteland is an Indy area school. How far out would you consider Indianapolis to be? Would you consider Dekalb and Belmont part of Fort Wayne? Whiteland is about the same distance from Indianapolis as those schools are to Fort Wayne. Does that make Sheridan and Tri-West part of Indianapolis too?
  2. From observations the Irish Offense has played very well in all 3 games. There are things to keep learning along the O-line (that will come with experience and as they continue to gel). Even with some players dinged up the Offense has looked pretty good. It will be a very scary offense when healthy with the depth and talent and as the O-line grows and gets better each week. Defensively they have been going through some growing pains. Which is not unusual when you are replacing 9 of 11 starters. As I said in a previous post Cathedral week 9 or 10 will be totally different than current as experience is gained and coaching mistakes take place. Yes definitely builds depth. Very impressed with the depth and talent at TE this year.
  3. Solid win for sure. Detroit Cass Tech is not that great this year (not as good as they have been in the past). They lost to Southfield Arts & Tech the week before Carmel. Cass Tech had a lot to replace from last year. Detroit King is pretty solid this year but Cass Tech is not.
  4. In all honesty I think Penn's secondary will be just fine. They had a tall task trying to slow down a very good QB with some very good weapons to throw to. Even without TE #1 the arsenal of receivers are pretty good for the Irish. QB #1 for the Irish is very impressive. Throws the ball very well and accurate on the run or in the pocket, he may miss some passes but you very seldom see him throw that terrible INT (I think he had 1 all last season). He also is deceptively a terrific runner. I think if anything Penn's Secondary faced a terrific receiving corps and has film on what to improve on. Coach Jones did very well with S.B> Washington. Wasn't he a first or second year HC when they went to State?
  5. To me the right decision. Yeah they didn't complete the 2 point play. With tired players try to make a play. Came up a little short, but just go for it! Trinity much improved from last season. CG looks to be solid will be different in week 9 or 10 than now.
  6. @PDB26and @GOLDRUSH1985 does the Penn Pennant still stream games on YouTube?
  7. Is that shocking at how good Loyola is or shocking at how bad St. X is? Honest question.
  8. I personally (no actual knowledge) think QB will be fine and playing. He did comeback on the field after sitting out 1 play. As for the TE he also was up walking back and forth on the sideline, regardless their other TE played very well also even having a TD although he did take a big blindside hit late in the game (possibly just the wind knocked out of him). There seems to be good depth at WR and TE positions (from my observation). The RB's aren't flashy but hard runners. This game will be interesting the Irish found a lot they need to work on (coach up) defensively and in special teams. As long as QB1 is good to go (even QB2 didn't look bad on his 1 play) covering the WR's and TE's will be challenging at times.
  9. I would say they made the trip. QB - Passing 26 of 44 for 317 yds 4 TD 0 Int / Rushing 13 carries 113 yds WR 1 - 13 catches 121 yds 2 TD's WR 2 - 4 catches 70 yds 1 TD WR 3 - 1 catch 14 yds 1 TD TE 1 - 3 catches 42 yds (prior to injury) What didn't show up was the defense or special teams. To be one of top contenders you have to play well in all 3 phases of the game. The Irish didn't do that. There has been some crowning to start the season without a game being played, 6A in my opinion is very wide open CG will be my top favorite until someone knocks them off (even they will have some struggles). The Irish have some really good players, I think they will be a different team with more experience later in the season. Replacing 9 of 11 starters on defense there is going to be some growing pains and learning to get better. A game like last night will provide growth for those new starters. Offensively the Irish played very well but had a crucial fumble and a couple of bad penalties. The Irish will be fine as the season goes along ultimately none of it truly matters until the tournament rolls around. As for Brownsburg they played very well on offense as well. Their special teams were spectacular. I think the only kickoff their kicker didn't put in the endzone was after a penalty enforced on the kickoff backed them up and I think he still hit the 3 yard line. Young man has a very nice leg. Brownsburg QB played very well. They have some speed with their WR's and 2 solid RB's one of which was very shifty. Defensively for the Bulldogs they played very solid up front, their pass defense didn't have its best game, but they were defending some very good weapons. @PHJIrish I would concur that the officials didn't have their best night to be somewhat nice. I am sure they will review the film and not like some of it and hopefully improve (Game #2 for them also). I think the most glaring no call I could see was on the play the Cathedral TE got hurt the defender 100% interfered with the pass and even grabbed the TE's facemask and pulled him down before the ball was there with no call. It wasn't the best night for the officials
  10. I'd bet money you won't see either team win by 3-4 TD's in this one. The last couple of times these 2 have met in recent history have been much closer. 2018 Brownsburg 37 Cathedral 26 2021 Cathedral 20 Brownsburg 7
  11. Nope but you seem to miss the point. It is not the coaches or them coming from P/P to Public when it comes to North Central and Lawrence North. It's the landscape of where those 2 schools sit in present day. Heck 2 of the coaches you named coached from 1976-1994 and 1971-1991 (1 at LN and 1 at NC) the other from 1992-2002 (at NC posting pretty much the same 6-4 or 7-4 records the last 8 years of his career there). It's more to do with Lawrence North and North Central than it is the coaches that have been and currently are coaching there. Heck somebody already brought up Coach Dullaghan whom coached at Chatard prior to Carmel then Ben Davis. There is also Bob Springer who coached at Sacred Heart and then Indianapolis Washington (he had a lot of success at Washington until the flight of students players to Ben Davis. Present day landscapes aren't the same as the past.
  12. Ever think maybe that is not the whole reason they went there? They are educators too. I would say year 1 (3-8), year 2 (5-7), year 3 (6-4), and year 4 (7-4) is a turn around in the right direction. That was one coach. Another year 1 (3-7), year 2 (9-3), year 3 (6-4), year 4 (6-4) year 5 (1-9).
  13. You're barking up the wrong tree if you expect him to "work with you". Over many years he has had much more stringent expectations for High School football coaches. Someone whom hasn't coached or dealt with what coaches do on a daily basis ever. Good writer who strikes the needle in viewership and conversation starters, but Head Coaching or coaching skills at all are seriously lacking. The names can be thrown out there O'Shea, Streiff, Dilley, Mallory, Haste, etc. etc. What is largely over looked is the focal point to the equation. He loves to use former P/P coaches to Public or whatever. What is not recognized is the 2 schools associated with the coaches I have named is the 2 schools. Lawrence North and North Central both have their struggles both have high success in Basketball not so much in football. Comparing basketball success and football success is comparing apples to oranges. You only have to have 5 players on the floor in basketball in football you have to have 11 (for a lot of the bigger schools to compete not many 2 way players so actually around 19-22 players). All of the coaches named had some success at one point at those 2 schools for what they are even if it didn't meet DT's criteria. NC and LN haven't exactly been top notch places to coach at when it comes to football, but the coaches named (regardless if their background came from coaching at P/P or Public) have done the best they could with the hands they were dealt. More importantly they have likely had a large impact on the young men they coached at LN and NC during their times there.
  14. In other words when in Rome do as the Romans?
  15. I would bet a lot of those Universities were wanting to get a look at the QB who will be a Junior. He had a impressive Soph season: 231 comp 367 Att 63% comp 2,956 yds 33 TD's 2 Int, 118 Car 305 yds 10 TD. Seems to be very aware and makes good decisions with the football. Has visited Georgia, Florida State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, Cincinnati, and Kentucky over the spring. Will also be visiting Ohio State (if not already as of this post) and I am sure a few other schools as an incoming Junior. https://www.si.com/college/notredame/recruiting/notre-dame-football-recruiting-quarterback-danny-oneil-visiting
  16. Biggest plus about Center Grove going 28-0 and 2 straight State Championships but losing a lot of talent to graduation. Reps lots of young players that will start or have significant playing time this year have had lots of reps playing that deep into those 2 years. Many of them had to go against those great players lost to graduation in practice. Yes should make for an interesting year in the South bracket. Trojans 28-0 the last 2 years, and the Irish 27-2 over the last 2 years (both losses to Center Grove in tight close games). Both teams have to rebuild defensively as some key players have graduated. Irish bring back a QB that had an impressive Soph season 2956 passing 33 TD's 2 Int's, a impressive WR with 1174 yds and 11 TD's, as well as a solid TE Offensively. Trojans bring back a very fast (understatement) RB with 1,003 yds and 13 TD's and another RB with 631 yds and 10 TD's, but will breaking in a new QB to replace a very talented QB lost to graduation. Both have a terrific coaching staff and plenty of talent. They will definitely need players to step in and fill the voids lost to graduation, but will be very good.
  17. That he does. When you have been around as long as some of us have he has earned everyone of those shots below the belt like it or not.
  18. I already answered the question. Coaches take action pointing out the flaws and even drilling proper technique (not just feeble comments). In your eyes should they pull out a leather strap. Correct form is taught and drilled over and over. Even if the play is not flagged or player is not hurt coaches will still correct poor tackling form and they drill it ad nauseum. Yes the CHILDREN are made 100% clear of the risk involved. Not a practice went by I didn't mention injury risk when coaching youth. Just because you don't like the answer you are given doesn't mean your question wasn't answered. That is on you.
  19. I will take into consideration you may have no experience with it. They did it some back in the day although it usually took longer. In HS football after they play a game on Friday night, Saturday morning they usually do film study, It has come a long way from old reel to reel and VHS film study. With the digital age they have HUDL (and other programs similar to it). In that the coaches point out players out of position, poor techniques (blocking, route running, throwing), and yes they even point out poor tackling techniques for future learning. They might even replay a play 6-8 times pointing out several mistakes on that one play. Not one player in youth, HS, College, or Professional has been perfect 100% of the time. They all make mistakes and the coaches job is to correct them. Sometimes those mistakes can and do cause an injury. Is it a risk yes, driving a car is a greater risk than most people think about too.
  20. HHF, DT, Driven T, I know you have had a daughter that attended Center Grove. I know you possibly went to Highland (if my memory serves correctly). I would like to ask how many years or even downs of football have you played? I know you take vested interest in coming up with controversial subjects on this board, but I just want to know what extent you have actually played football.
  21. I will personally say Indiana and Purdue will pay more attention to lesser touted recruits from (Texas, Florida, and Ohio) than they will top recruits from Indiana. I think it is a shame because some great players leave Indiana to play at out of State Colleges because Indiana and Purdue do that exact thing. I may try to do some research when I get some free time, but I would bet some big hitters in NCAA D-1 do a pretty darn good job of recruiting and focusing on the top players from their own State. I will exclude Notre Dame from this discussion because there are many factors that makes it different. I 100% can't wait to leave Indiana (not because it is a bad State) but because I am not a fan of cold bitter winters and would rather park my rear end near a beach! I have made a good living in Indiana just would rather be in warmer climates!
  22. Coach Peebles also coached at Southport and Lawrence Central. I believe he also responded with having 40 seniors at Cathedral is not the normal (in other words he was being honest he had a large SR class). Regardless it all remained the same, read Coach Lidy's too and while you down play Coach Peebles response you got similar responses for others. Coach Skinner did go more in depth and didn't just spout your typical BS. Curious to see what you get from Coach Pasch, Coach Hart, Coach Moore. I don't think you would get much difference in an answer. Probably wouldn't get much different from the State Runner-up Coaches. Keep on chugging though Thomas the Tank Engine. Sorry Coaches don't and likely won't agree with some of your notions now matter how hard you try to spin it.
  23. You're standing in front of the dart board with common sense, less chance one of the darts he throws blindfolded hit the dart board.
  24. The award is for the best football player that played High School Football in Indiana, not the best Indiana High School Football player that elected to play college football in Indiana. My attempt at equivalency is that Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson have had more National Championships in football than Indian, Purdue, and Ball State (Notre Dame is a different animal with academic requirements). Steelers, Patriots, 49ers, and Cowboys have won a bunch of Super Bowls.
  25. Why should an award for the top player in Indiana have anything to do with if they choose to play college football in Indiana or not? Lots of factors these young men look into (and it doesn't always involve football, can also involve academics, Major choices, family history). So basically your saying we should for go giving Mr. Football to a player that elects to play at a high academic University that is successful in football for someone with less talent that decided to go to Purdue, Indiana, Ball State who have not had the same success and may not (depending on the College) be as prestigious. Doesn't make sense. That is like saying a College player shouldn't get the Heisman if they were to get drafted by the Steelers, Patriots, 49ers, or Cowboys. Should only get that award if they go to the Lions.
