Temp’s Top 25 (Week 11)
FastpacedO replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Agree with that for sure. In 6A Crown Point and Elkhart were listed tied for 1st in Defensive average giving up 8.30 points. Warren Central was in 3rd at 9.20. F.W. Snider 4th with 11, Westfield 6th 13.20, Lawrence North 8th 14.90, and Brownsburg 10th with 17.40. However if you look at the Offensive Average there are more teams on the top 10 Offensive average that Warren Central, Lawrence North, Brownsburg, Westfield play than Elkhart or Crown Point. Yes they may have solid defenses, but their defensive average numbers are inflated by the fact they did not play teams with high output Offense. It draws out a little different perspective. Later I can see if I can compile Offensive average and defensive average of a few of the top teams. Here are the top 25 according to Calpreps and their SOS and Opponents W-L. 1.) Lawrence North - Schedule Strength (30.4) / Opponents W-L (47-52-1) 2.) Brownsburg - Schedule Strength (41.1) / Opponents W-L (52-48) 3.) Westfield - Schedule Strength (37.8) / Opponents W-L (52-48) 4.) Warren Central - Schedule Strength (25.9) / Opponents W-L (51-46-1) 5.) Cathedral - Schedule Strength (37.8) / Opponents W-L (52-40) 6.) Center Grove - Schedule Strength (39.6) / Opponents W-L (68-32) 7.) Crown Point - Schedule Strength (12.9) / Opponents W-L (48-51) 8.) HSE - Schedule Strength (37.6) / Opponents W-L (52-48) 9.) Franklin Central - Schedule Strength (40.8) / Opponents W-L (60-41) 10.) Ben Davis - Schedule Strength (40.4) / Opponents W-L (51-48) 11.) Fishers - Schedule Strength (39.4) / Opponents W-L (47-53) 12.) Carroll - Schedule Strength (20.2) / Opponents W-L (47-54) 13.) F.W. Snider - Schedule Strength (22.2) / Opponents W-L (56-46) 14.) Columbus North - Schedule Strength (23.4) / Opponents W-L (52-47-1) 15.) Zionsville - Schedule Strength ( 41.4) / Opponents W-L (54-46) 16.) Pike - Schedule Strength (35.6) / Opponents W-L (49-52) 17.) Lawrence Central - Schedule Strength (44.1) / Opponent W-L (58-42) 18.) Avon - Schedule Strength (48.7) / Opponents W-L (67-33) 19.) Noblesville - Schedule Strength (12.9) / Opponents W-L (59-41) 20.) Carmel - Schedule Strength (37.8) / Opponents W-L (60-42) 21.) Elkhart - Schedule Strength (12.9) / Opponents W-L (53-49) 22.) Penn - Schedule Strength (6.3) / Opponents W-L (51-52) 23.) Homestead - Schedule Strength (26.8) / Opponents W-L (49-53) 24.) Harrison WL - Schedule Strength (19.1) / Opponents W-L (59-42) 25.) Interesting indeed. HSE seemed to be in control running the ball well jumping out to a 17-0 lead. Homestead made a 4th qtr comeback scoring 14 points. The Royals held on. Here is the box score -

Not towards you @Bears62 but apparently the monsoon in the regular season had little to do with the result of the game (as someone alluded to in a different post) -

6A Tournament Discussion

Please do excuse my ignorance. In no way do I intend to back-up Penn admins. How does the conference stack up in other sports like basketball, baseball, Softball etc. I know it is very easy to only look at optics of football with these conferences. In football the conference may not be great may be very strong in other sports. Just something to be mindful of. Don't get me wrong I get your frustration and sentiment. I will say being in a conference makes scheduling a lot easier than not. Center Grove and Carmel have got a good taste of the difficulties in scheduling when not in a conference the last couple of years. -
Danville appeal denied

Expected with what is written in the by-laws. Very respectable letter sent out to the Danville community from the school corporation. Congrats to the Seniors on a terrific season and I wish you the best in your future endeavors. To the returning players, give it all you have in the off season come back stronger and give it heck next season. To the coaches lift their chins up, you have a great staff and will rebound and have them working hard towards a goal next year. Best of luck Gents. -

End of Danville-Brebeuf game
FastpacedO replied to Tin Cup's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'll be honest I think on the field in the heat of the game he handled himself extremely well. The emotions were definitely high and from what I have seen was handled as professionally as could be. I just was a little stunned with some of teh comments here and there and some I did not agree with. I already know what to expect from you @Coach Nowlin just a little under Eastbound and Down excitement. In all seriousness Coach Comer had a night that most HC's will never encounter. It totally stinks but he will rebound from it -

End of Danville-Brebeuf game

I did not go to the game. I can only go by the broadcast I have watched a few times. https://www.ihsaatv.org/?B=1460710 3:27:03 - Danville HC starts his sprint to the Brebeuf sideline to extend hands to shake (not both teams). Mind you officials have not ended the game. 3:27:20 - shows Brebeuf players still on their sideline. 3:27:42 - Shows 4 officials huddled up (they have not signaled the end of the contest regardless what coaches and players are doing). Brebeuf HC stand about 3 yards away distance headset in hand watching the officials huddle. 3:27:49 - Danville HC headed towards the officials huddle. Brebeuf Players still appear on their side of the field. Officisl still have not signaled the end of the contest. 3:28:05 - Both Danville and Brebeuf HC much closer to the officials huddle. Danville HC visibly talking to the officials in the huddle as one raises his hand to stop him from talking and another starts to back anyone near the officials huddle off. Officials stll have not signaled the end of the contest. 3:28:47 - Officials discussion has ended and they have now thrown the flag. 3:29:00 - 2 Officials discuss with the Danville HC. 3:29:21 - Danville HC looks visibly not happy pointing at and staring down what I assume is the Brebeuf AD (not HC) walking backwards. There might have been words shared between the Danville HC and Brebeuf AD just prior to that while they were slightly off camera. Having watched the broadcast while the officials were huddled it looked as though the Danville HC was doing more talking towards the officials than Brebeuf coaches. Which is why I found the comments by the Danville HC that they felt the officials were influenced by the Brebeuf coaches odd. Coaches on a sideline begging for a flag happens all the time and I doubt it influences many officials. I don't slight Danville's HC for being upset mad or anything that is just human nature and he has that right. The passive aggressive comments/statements are a little disappointing and the only issue I have. I don't fault him, his players, the players parents, the fans/community for being upset at all. -

To be honest you can watch coaches begging for a flag on any play that doesn't result in a big play or TD on any given Friday night. I would bet @Bobref will see that all the time. I already know @Coach Nowlin is a master at the begging for a flag with those flowing locks he has! Surely he will know I am kidding. -

My issue is he stated they went through the hand shake line and asked when does the game end. If you watch the broadcast yes there were coaches not in officials ear shot begging for a flag because Danville players were on the field. The only hand shaking was Danville's Head Coach on the Brebeuf sideline going to shake hands with Brebeuf coaches. There was no handshake line and the officials were huddled up. The officials had not ended the game and it seemed there was some jumping the gun all the way around. -

Couple of quotes I found intriguing: “We feel like we should be playing,” Comer said. “Like I told our kids after the game, ‘You take a life lesson from it.’ But right now, I’m still struggling to figure out what that lesson is.” I think he could perhaps relay to them: life is not always fair, how you react to what happens to you is more important than what happens to you. “Part of our complaint is that there was no flag on the field,” Comer said. “We go through the handshake line. At what point is the game over? The officials didn’t leave the field. We feel like they were persuaded to stay on the field and give the call that they did. That’s the part we’re most frustrated with. Everybody I’ve talked to has said, ‘There’s no way in hell you make that call.’” I did not see a hand shake line. I saw a couple coaches walk all the way over to the Brebeuf side line and extend a hand to shake while the officials were huddled up. The game is over when the Officials make the game official. In this isntance they had not made it official and were huddled up for a discussion which is why the officials did not leave the field it was not deemed officially over yet. @Bobref am I incorrect in thinking that? -

I saw that. I don't agree with a couple of things what Coach Comer stated having now watched the video. He stated they were through the handshake line (only he and a couple Danville coach came all the way to the Brebeuf sideline and extended to shake hands). The officials had not ended the game officially and were huddled (regardless what Danville did on their own accord). He also said that the Brebeuf Coach persuaded the Officials to throw the flag. Both coaches were near each other close to where the officials remained huddled. They eventually moved away to keep both coaches from interfering with their huddle discussion. -

@Donnie Baker when you going to challenge D Tees to a darts competition. Figured you might be up to challenging him since he is great at throwing darts to see what sticks.
