  1. It was a CYO jamboree photo. It is called Kuntz Memorial Stadium now and hosts soccer. My father always tells me the grass there is a little greener, but its current state will never surpass his memories of the old CYO Field.
  2. Or perhaps you made an assumption to what I typed aside from the definition.
  3. If you say so. I would say acclimating to the high temperatures by staying well hydrated all week (especially all day Thursday and early Friday) and conditioning. Versus having cooler temperatures all week and hitting high humidity on Friday that you haven't prepared for. Then again what do I know, I am just typing a message on a message board.
  4. On a positive note should be pretty warm all week during practice to get acclimated to the heat.
  5. @Coach Nowlin I am betting the O-line Coach has a big tab on victory meals. Could you imagine taking them to s steak house!
  6. I think we will know more about Cathedral and Brownsburg after this week. We have a good idea on Ben Davis and Center Grove (I do NOT think BD is head and shoulders above CG). I think there were glaring differences in the opponents BD and CG played (St. Ed's was very talented, Moeller was not terrible but didn't look to be on St. Ed's level I think Springfield looked to be Ohio Div 1 #2). As for Cathedral (played Lafayette Jeff) and Brownsburg (played FW Dwenger), both will find out more about there team this week against much better competition. Of course what we see in week 1 and 2 from all 4 (Ben Davis, Cathedral, Center Grove, Brownsburg) will be a lot different than what we see in Week 9.
  7. IMHO Springfield is the #2 in Div 1 Ohio. Cincinnati Moeller should cruise to a victory against FW Dwenger next week, but the Crusaders game against East Central should be pretty good.
  8. I hadn't read anywhere that this years Warren Central team would be very good. I have read that Ben Davis should be pretty solid, and after last nights game against Moeller Ben Davis should be definitely considered a title contender. That being said still a huge win for the Snider Panthers. The future looks bright for FW Snider.
  9. Ben Davis and Warren Central during the years they won State were very fast. Their speed however was not their only thing relied on as mentioned. They also had an abundance of strength and yes even mechanics. Example Warren Central's Darren Evans was fast, but his pure strength showed in every game he played in. Warren Central also ran to perfection using "mechanics" their triple option Wing T under coach Wright and Coach Tutsie. I in no way feel that speed was heavily relied on more than any other aspect. As a matter of fact I would argue that their mechanics and strength provided opportunities to showcase their speed. They were not just running sweeps and beating people with speed on the outside, they would run it right up your throat. I am sure the coaches would pick grass. In all honesty in those years, the result would have been identical if it were on grass, dirt, or turf. If the feeling is grass slows down the faster team, it also slows down the slower team so it is a wash. I believe there is a way Ben Davis can, but that doesn't mean they will. Even with all the hoopla about IMG and their band of All Stars. They can look great at times, but they also can look terrible at times. Not terrible from an athletic or talent point of view, but terrible in 11 players on the field going rogue and doing their own thing to try and get the highlight rather than playing as a team. Sometimes it bites them in the rear and sometimes the raw talent overcomes the lack of discipline. Most likely Ben Davis will lose this game, but If they catch IMG in their individual showboat moments and make it a game (getting them frustrated) they possibly could steal a victory. I don't foresee that happening, but anything is possible.
  10. Whiteland has been on the cusp for a little bit. There were a few years they have been better than solid but ran into Cathedral or Columbus East and just couldn't quite get over that hump. Like Coach Moore at Center Grove, Coach Fisher at Whiteland has built Whiteland from the ground up using a similar blueprint.
  11. Unfortunately the NCAA has gotten in the way of what they use to do at University of Cincinnati with the Herbstreit Classic. Ohio still hosts games with out of state opponents but they will do it at a venue like Massillon and McKinley.
  12. I have met Coach Lombardo on 2 occasions. Great football coach, even better man. Enjoyed my conversations with him.
  13. Snider just barely surpassed Penn (this is from 2003 to present). Snider got a rating of 42.9 and Pen 42 even.
  14. Yeah, regardless if Pike won one State Championship and floundered into a Top 100 across the USA (97th just barely) The definition of a dynasty is not 1 State Championship over 14 years, I would better coin them as a (Cinderella or One Hit Wonder). Here is a better depiction for Indiana Dynasty's (2003-present) via Calpreps.
  15. Congrats to Bowen! I figured this is how it would go.
  16. I think it might have to do with what the specific coach has a degree in to get this title. If he has something in Sports Medicine and Sports Nutrition. I don't know this as fact though. It is very possible that Coach Hart does not only have a teaching degree in Advanced Physical Education but also in Sports medicine and Nutrition (or even add in Kinesiology). Likely some extra things you would see College strength Coaches have (like Coach David Ballou formerly of Avion, IU, Notre Dame, and now Alabama)
  17. Ask a stupid question (inquiry) get a stupid answer I guess, there was no deflection I answered your question. Most schools are going to have a Advanced Physical Education teacher no matter if you agree or not. This one actually has a title for APE, Sports medicine, sports nutrition, and mental health so you take care of 4 positions with 1 hire.
  18. Not to worry I doubt he will crack the top 50 in pay of M.S.D. Washington Township schools maybe top 75.
  19. Inconsequential really. In my opinion this award is going to Bowen, the only person I felt had a legit battle with Bowen was Hansen from Roncalli. You have to win the position award to be in the running. Hansen didn't win the position award so he is not eligible. Coyle great kid had a great season very fortunate to get the position award, but this one is Bowen's award hands down.
  20. Director of sports performance is to direct and assist in the development of performance enhancement programs for designated sports. Areas of performance enhancement include strength and conditioning, sports medicine, sports nutrition and mental health. Very similar to a Strength Coach but maybe a few more responsibilities.
  21. Have you been living under a rock? It happens in every diocese not just Indianapolis or others in Indiana but across the United States.
