  1. 2002, can't believe I remember that year so vividly even though it was 21 years ago. The year prior 2001 didn't they play each other in the State Championship also in an Offensive thriller 3-0 final in favor of Chatard?
  2. Eh, Inside Zone was designed to go wherever there is an opening. Unfortunately ND left a huge opening on that side. They would have ran that same play if there was 10, 11, or 12 players.
  3. Chatard is not flashy this year. They are a typical Chatard team though play all the way until the end with constant hard effort. Nobody is going to wow you, but they play very fundamentally strong. Defense returns a lot of experience especially in the secondary. The defense is good enough that the Offense can work out the kinks to find themselves through the season. Offense does have some very good skill players that will be even better as they gel together. Chatard did a very good job of doing exactly what you said against Cathedral. They took advantage of Cathedral's QB still working the kinks out with the WR's and put pressure and disguised coverages. Offensively Chatard loosened up Cathedral's defense with their QB running and making plays opening the pass a little more.
  4. Banks was a much better all around player (could throw, run, kick, coverage, drive the bus, etc) Shannon did enjoy the luxury of some outstanding Offensive Lineman (and a TE that went to the NFL as a D-lineman). His vision, stop and go, speed, footwork were amazing. His line would open him a hole and then when he got to 5 yards he could stop and jump cut or cut on the move and be back to full speed quickly. He also had tremendous power and leg strength at contact, his open field speed was very deceiving. He wasn't the tallest RB. He also did on occasion when needed play defense as a DB in coverage. He also could throw the ball extremely well. In the 1999 4A State Finals (Goshen vs Cathedral) game trailing 21-17 he threw a beautiful halfback pass and on the next play ran it in from 2 yards out to take the lead 24-21 with 52 seconds left
  5. I wasn't saying they didn't have legit careers just they were fun to watch. Moore had some good return yards in NFL. Richards went MLB route.
  6. Dray Mason unfortunately was not a Mr. Football award winner as Clayton Richards won it that year. He was an exciting RB to watch though. Devin Moore from Cardinal Ritter was fun to watch too.
  7. It was a typo on Calpreps he is an Interior Offensive Lineman. The WR is A. Chenault 6' 2" 165 and is a JR being recruited by Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Ole Miss, and West Virginia.
  8. Frederick Douglass Broncos sit at #2 in Kentucky 6A and are 2-2 @ Archbishop Hoban [5-0] (OH) Lost 45-6 @ Trinity [2-3] (KY) Won 17-14 Tates Creek [3-2] (KY) Won 43-0 @ Corbin [4-0] (KY) Lost 6-0 D1 College Prospects Z. Madison 6'5" 315 Senior IOL 3.5 Star (Committed Arkansas) D. Kennedy 6'3" 265 Senior WR 3.5 Star (Committed Purdue) J. Lowe 5'11" 170 Senior CB 3.5 Star (Committed Michigan) T. Hicks 5'11" 170 Senior CB 3 Star (Committed Northwestern)
  9. Not to worry the IHSAA has already slightly been frowning upon grass fields for Tournament play.
  10. Here is one for 2 NFL stadium comparison. I will point out that while product cost is not much difference (at the NFL level). There is a huge difference in man hours (almost double for natural grass). Man hours are not cheap either, so you are almost doubling the cost for Natural Grass at the NFL level. Winner winner chicken dinner! 100% agree!
  11. You are missing the nuances in the reports though. The study is looking at injuries and did they happen on Turf or on grass. It also points out to wear the proper shoes/cleats, in other words the study didn't account for how many were actually wearing the proper shoes/cleats. It also didn't look at how or what caused the injury. Just because there is a "ACL" injury does not mean that injury was caused by turf or grass. They could have stepped onto another player and injured their ACL. Having watch specifically Aaron Rodgers injury his foot planted into the ground (which could happen on grass or turf) and as he was being tackled it stuck tearing his achilles, this 100% could happen on any playing surface. Heck I watched an torn achilles by a motorcross racer who wasn't touching grass or turf with his foot but a foot peg and had on motorcross boots. A study that broad can be turned many ways. Look up studies on deaths in cars vs airplanes. Should everyone switch to their own personal airplane?
  12. Go run on Rose Hulman's Football field, any turf field, and any high school that has Natural grass and let me know what difference you feel (I have done all of the above. The people who play the game at the highest level possible aren't playing on High School natural grass when they do play on Natural Grass. Rose Hulman happens to have NFL grass that was installed when the Colts used their facility for training camp.
  13. It is expensive to upkeep on a grass field as well. An achiles injury can and does happen on a grass field too.
  14. I can totally agree with this. Right now I have in 4A: 1.) East Central Next tier (you can mix them all around) 2.) Kokomo 3.) Ev. Reitz 4.) Ev Memorial 5.) Roncalli 6.) New Pal Next Tier is a mix of several teams. I definitely think the South is over powering the North as of right now.
  15. I wouldn't over look them, but East Central is a large mountain to climb (so long as they stay healthy). Aside from East Central I think Roncalli is on par with the rest of 4A. The most difficult games to gauge are Roncalli vs Chatard, Chatard vs Cathedral, and Cathedral vs Roncalli. You just never know what you are going to get in these games with the rivalries.
  16. Yes they didn't have to walk 3.1 miles in the snow uphill to get there this time though. Probably also didn't have to pack snacks and waters for the long 6 minute bus ride either.
  17. Plainfield would be at about #28 or #29. Not quite in the Top 25 yet.
  18. The lights going out didn't change the trajectory of the game. Chatard after going down 21-0 in 1st quarter grabbed the momentum in 2nd qtr scoring 10 points. Then on Saturday kept the momentum scoring 14 more points. Chatard's defense bent but didn't break after Q1. The lights were just a side object.
  19. 1.) That could be in the works 2.)Tech is at U of I because their field at Tech is out of commission
