  1. It's insinuated and as a person of the law you should see he's introducing evidence to bolster his contraction argument. Would you not object on irrelevance? I can counter with programs like Gibson Southern which could have been contracted 10 years ago but rebounded. Until DT provides some comprehensive data, he's simply picking and choosing when it meets his goal... Whatever that is.
  2. I understand the parameters. DT should offer solutions not messages, depending on his motives. If the goal is to preserve HS football, there are options like co-oping or not playing 11s. However, to label DT as merely a messenger is naive and above you.
  3. Do you not pay to attend a game? If the experience of listening to a radio broadcast has better value than paying to watch, then go that route. Production and film crews, channel licensing, bandwidth, equipment aren't free.
  4. So who was the better D1 QB prospect in this one? Let's say for giggles that they would be playing in the IU system.
  5. DT won't stop until football is a HS club sport across the country.
  6. No, this thread will stay focused on the game and any conference talks will get moved to that thread. Jasper put up more points than I expected against HH, not sure that bodes well for VL; although, the Alices seem to get up for any kind of game against the the Wildcats. I hate cliches, but especially this year, "throw the records out the window" for this one.
  7. No need to harass the good folk of Pike County or subject them to Mr. Estonia's bus driving ability. Let's stay on the topic of the new PACs.
  8. Chatard does things the honest way through the diocese. Cathedral has assets which the diocese don't currently have. Trojans never fail.
  9. Post 'em and they will come. For our social media, follow @gridirondigest for the latest around the state of Indiana. Week 4 is time to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
  10. I got my baseball license in college (circa 2005). It's the "league rules" that some coach (who also wrote the league rules) will try to get you on. I also had my basketball license when I was in the United States. I stuck to Grade 8 and younger because frankly I could tell the coach (or school admin) to stick it if mommies and daddies were disrupting the flow of the game. Officiating football ... it was the underclassmens' "duty" to work to the chaingang of the middle school games. Then on the weekends, we would officiate Pee Wee flag football (up to Grade 4) for a few bucks and no one seemed to care so long as we blew the whistle and spotted the ball.
  11. With family on both sides of this rivalry, I'll pull for our 3A brethren. Irish luck can be traced to Hamilton County. What happened to that working class private school?
  12. The coal business results in families who do not stay in the community. That's the short of it. They've had minor success in basketball when they get 2-3 players, but to build a football program, they need generational stability IMHO.
  13. Patriots Raiders Catholic Rangers Marksmen Titans
  14. Well they didn't score.
  15. What about Jasper's soccer, swimming, golf, volleyball, and tennis programs? It does make sense. We football fans may not like it, but Jasper is more than football, baseball, and basketball.
  16. I'll take the under for anything
  17. I just don't think I don't think there will be much offense.
  18. I prefer to listen to 103.3 FM WAXL with @Bcaster and Michael Crews! Does it matter who is turning around and handing the ball off 45 times?
  19. Everything old is new again. Jasper went on to win 10 straight and the Class 3A champion (Chatard) was every bit as good as the 4A.
  20. After correctly picking Jasper to win at Boonville, I'm going to be a homer and take the Patriots by five points in The Jungle. This will be the 19th game since the two teams started playing in the regular season in 2001. HH was fresh off a state championship and Jasper had one of the best running backs in the state in Brian Lewis. The game was delayed because of torrential rains. God only knows the conversations that took place between coaches, ADs, and officials. All I know as a sophomore on that team was we dressed, undressed, and redressed at least three times before starting around 9 p.m. (Central time, 10 p.m. Eastern/Jasper time). We and Jasper took turns doing last minute walkthroughs and stretches in the basketball gymnasium. When all was said and done, the game ended in a HH victory and was junior Cole Seifrig's coming out party as one of the best all-around athletes in Indiana -- at RB, WR, safety, KR, PR, and special teams safety. I think this game will see HH run until Jasper can stop it ... let's see if it takes 7, 8, or 9 in the box to do so. Mount Carmel had a good showing against Mount Vernon, I'll take our friends on the other side of the Wabash, the Golden Aces by 23 ... Does anyone know if this series will continue? Lincoln in a tight one on the road. 15-13 Alices with one or two big plays or mistakes being the difference. North Daviess ... I know nothing about this one, but it's always nice to stick it to Washington in any sport even though they probably have the best selection of restaurants in any SW Indiana town... Elnora watcha got?
  21. Independent like Cathedral... No shortage of p/p schools in Indiana and elsewhere. Football may not be the scheduling problem, what about other sports?
  22. Spectatorless games cut into the coffers of those who should be responsible for keeping order. There was a case, in Texas a few years ago I believe, where two teams had to play or continue a game without any spectators. Only players, coaches and officials.
  23. Akers sounds like a Dubois County name?
  24. Heritage Hills better put some octane in that offense. I'm sure Coach Wilkerson and staff will have a few wrinkles to pull out of the playbook, but to honor the history of this smash mouth rivalry that is coming to an end, I hope there are no more than 10 combined passes and some hard hits.
  25. First time a PAC school has played a 6A team. Perhaps even a 5A team in the new alignment system. Will be interested to see if Gibson platoons or uses its tournament and championship rotations playing the best players two ways. Has Southport seen Gibson's no huddle offense? That could be troublesome early on if Southport plays some kind of zone (or worse man) and can't pressure the QB. I think physically the Titans will be able to block and tackle, let's see if fatigue factors in.
