He's a gamer for sure. But when the outcome is decided he'll be the first in line to wish you future success. -
CONGRATS Coach Mike Goebel
hhpatriot04 replied to itiswhatitis's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Mike Goebel is the epitome of class in Indiana HS sports... Football and wrestling. Bravo. Can't wait until you and your team team return to The Jungle with the (not your) cadre of lunatics. Nothing but respect from Heritage Hills, football and wrestling, to Mater Dei and Coach Goebel. -
Statistically, it will happen. I don't think using statistical anomalies will boost the idea that some school corporations should cut the support, which is exactly what he is advocating for, indirectly or in this case directly. Shame. We are on a platform that aims to support Indiana HS football programs and their supporters. Mudas dissent is worrisome. My father always told me that you shouldn't complain unless you have a better alternative. Not sure what his is.?
-
RIP to the school boards and soccer programs who promoted such a great job. Bravo. You deprived student athletes of the athletics which they will want to compete in. Muda, as a a man of logic, you know that a certain number must go 0-9 while a certain number must go 9-0. Simple bell curve statistics.

I've been voting for them. I think when they were 1-2 or 1-3, I dropped them, but heck. It's still Andrean in 2A... Rolling to Lucas.

Gibson Southern @ Southridge
hhpatriot04 replied to Titan32's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Check the film. In 2000 in the playoffs, he mostly ran a mixed offense with about 30 percent out of the wishbone and 70 percent shotgun (ask Roncalli). He had receivers to throw to who chose not to play college in D2 or even D1. At Vandy, he threw effectively on the move, which is why only Shanahan understood that he wasn't a true pocket passer. Closer to Tebow than Breese. -
@77Jimmie @DK_Barons, What do you think of re-activating live chat for the playoffs? Disclaimer that it is not constantly moderated, but if mods see rule-breaking, it will be enforced just as it is in the forum (namely language, name calling, outing posters' personal details, attacking coaches, injuries, etc...)?

Bosse's worst enemy is always Bosse. Where will this game be played and how is Bosse on numbers, depth, etc..? Round 1 Heritage Hills (75.07) is a 56.5-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Corydon (18.76) Gibson Southern (63.5) is a 23-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Salem (40.43) Southridge (58.17) is a 7.5-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Mt. Vern. of Posey (50.78) Ev. Bosse (38.1) is a 15-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against North Harrison (23.25) Round 2 Heritage Hills (75.07) is a 11.5-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Gibson Southern (63.5) Southridge (58.17) is a 20-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Ev. Bosse (38.1) Round 3 Heritage Hills (75.07) is a 17-point favorite (0-point home-field advantage) against Southridge (58.17)

In individual sports like golf, tennis, track, swimming only your best qualify from your school. But each school does get a slot... -
Illinois Playoff Proposals
hhpatriot04 replied to JustRules's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Reallly not a sound argument. Wrestling has a different metric. Track is seeded according to speeds. We do have precedent for different systems in Indiana. -
I've always favored seeding the tournament similiar to the way it's done for wrestling. Sectionals - Lock the coaches in a room after Week 8 and seed their sectional Regionals - Use coaches, IHSAA or Sagarin to seed 1v4, 2v3 in each of the four sectionals (Classes A-4A) Semistate (neutral sites) - Use coaches, IHSAA or Sagarin to seed 1v4, 2v3

Best hs player you've seen in person
hhpatriot04 replied to Justasportsfan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think Baker was the better HS lineman just due to his length. Baker was used in more ways, as well. Seifrig is the best player that I have ever practiced or played with. Untouchable, versatile (run, pass, catch, return), and very physical as a safety with good ball skills. -

This is why I wouldn't use Facebook for documentation purposes. Wikipedia is a better option as any media posted must not already be copyrighted or have explicit written permission to share... Trademarks can be a bit different. Working in a sector and geographic region where copyright law is not enforced, but still using Facebook/Twitter, has forced me to learn much about how much protected material can be shared and end-use agreements. Thankfully, as most schools are funded by taxpayers, their information can be openly dissemenated without much concern for infringing on copyright. I would need some clarity on P/P school information (i.e. posting a yearbook photo of Chatard's 2000 football team). -

Not meant to be argumentative. Eventually, when I chronicle more of IN HS football on Wikipedia (if @Rudy doesn't beat it to me first), having that knowledge and some of those old email chains are invaluable. Having worked in newsrooms, so much data is lost when writers retire. The Bloomington H-T, which had some of the best preps coverage due to the team that included Harrell had all kinds of box scores from the 1970s in all sports and team records for all the local schools going back to the early 1900s just sitting in a file organizer... In another life, I would tour every small newspaper and AD office and digitize it all. TA had started doing around the state podcasts, but monetizing it was difficult at the time. Perhaps now it's easier. @Rudy's books make great Christmas presents... http://almanacsports.com/football/ -
Shortest game this season? Mercy Rule?

There were definitely jealousy talks in the 1990s, but most conversations were very local (old time Bosse and Evansville Central alumni complaining about Memorial's rise in the 1980s come to mind). What didn't really exist until you had email and lists was people from across the state debating. I still see baseball statistician (professional) email lists with "threads" dated back pre-1995. @DK_Barons or @77Jimmie may be able to elaborate on if there were IN HS football mailing lists, and if so, what the main topics were and who was involved. -

TA, rest in peace, would also disagree. I have stood on enough state final sidelines and been in the boxes to know that IHSAA board members and administrators know and read TGD. Some may poke fun at what is said, ADs and coaches may dismiss it, but it reasonates. I don't think we get the Success Factor implemented as quickly as it was if it were not for TGD. Conference rearrangements have also been sparked by TGD discussions. I don't agree with a lot of what you say, but you are right on, on this topic.
