  1. Very South Spencer-esque. It only takes a few HH mistakes early for Southridge to force HH into a different style of offensive play. I'm not sure if HH has had its "bad" regular season game, but if it's going to happen, , it'll likely be this week after a huge win against a familiar and disciplined foe in the Raiders.
  2. Why and when did Lawrence Township split into two school systems? For the record, I was born in Indianapolis and would've gone to Carmel. However, at a young age my family moved to Santa Claus, which is comprised of two townships (Clay and Carter). The entirety of Spencer County with a population of just over 20,000 has two high schools and school systems, South Spencer (HS by the same name) and North Spencer (Heritage Hills HS). I bring this up because school districts in Indiana are based on townships, not counties. In the case of Marion, we have many exceptions, but little coordination on definining boundaries. Unfortunately political gerramdering comes into play, but the IHSAA has the ability to limit a program size... Let's say they put the 6A maximum at 2,500 enrollment. What're the ups and downs? . . ..
  3. What offense is Southridge running this year? I believe the familiarity of the programs at all levels puts the over/under around 49.5 points which is quite high given their histories.
  4. The rule exists to cover someone's butt in court if a drone hits a spectator, participant, or causes some other kind of person. I don't think much competitive advantage could be gleaned from even live drone video footage. If you are going to that end, jam the opponents coaches' headsets.
  5. 1. Memorial (6-0) 2. Central (5-1) 3. Heritage Hills (6-0) 4. Gibson Southern (4-2) 5. Southridge (6-0) 6. Castle (4-2) 7. Mater Dei (4-2) 8. Jasper (3-3) 9. Linton (5-1) 10. Mount Vernon (4-2) HM: North (3-3) Have at it.
  6. Please continue to post Week 6 updates on Saturday - Thread: - Twitter @gridirondigest #TGD: https://twitter.com/gridirondigest
  7. Anyone have any longer footage of the game that shows line play, other than just highlights? It seemed like HH struggled to pressure Allen, according to the highlights and stats. HH also seemed to always have a safety over the top and then play soft man-to-man on the back end. What happened with HH's two punts for 4 yards? Block, bad snap, shank? Those will bite the Patriots against the Raiders and in the sectional...
  8. GAMEDAY! Post scores and updates here for the latest in Week 6 of Indiana HS football. Big conference implications on the line this weekend. You can also follow or share scores, updates, broadcasts, videos and photos on our Twitter account @gridirondigest use the #TGD to automatically reshare your tweet with our 8,000+ followers.
  9. One of the grade schools IS, in fact, Nancy Hanks Elementary. I went to David Turnham and then Lincoln Trail when it was built (never lost a youth football game to those Chrisney southerners or big town Dale schoolboys or the Mariah Hill/Fulda/St Meinrad Catholics). Within a span of six years, you had four DI football players (Jade Winchell, Jon Goldsberry, Jay Cutler and Cole Seifrig) grow up within less than 3 miles from each other. Cutler and Goldsberry played in the NFL, Winchell was too concussed to want to continue after a stellar career where he shined against better competition like vs Florida at Ball State and Seifrig twice turned down Purdue scholarships under Tiller to play minor league baseball in the Marlins system. Jade has been a secondary coach at Perry Central. Jon greatly has boosted the influence of the Quarterback Club, and Jay, well is a reality TV "star."
  10. Yes, that #IBelieve, although, perhaps a few brave souls will opine. Conference and All Sports Championships are at stake.
  11. Steve ... What's he up to now? Coaching? Selling end-zone cameras? @DK_Barons and @77Jimmie got us out of his attempted hijack of the forum from TA around 2004 or 2005. Still thankful that @Mrs Gridirondigest is keeping her vigilant eyes on all of us!
  12. I didn't know of your Purdont affiliations. Seriously going to have to reconsider our relationship. 🤔
  13. I'm playing 7s Rugby tomorrow. Offsides is a huge problem in rugby. What player tracking exists and could it be implemented in American football?
  14. I didn't think you had Facebook, let alone email. How did you ever find The Gridiron Digest?
  15. They are called "Honest Abe's Formative Years" for good reason though! We are known as the state of vice presidents, not to side-track this very informative thread.
  16. I wouldn't want to be a lost Buffalo on the Run 😉 He's too modest.
  17. People said that about Chatard in 2004. Four D1 recruits. Dray Mason breaks his collarbone early in the game and they lose to HH by a field goal. We are talking about 15-19 year olds ... anything can happen. (No, I don't wish injury on anyone. I want to see the Sectional 32 champion beat Chatard at Lucas Oil Stadium.
  18. Will be tuning in live from Iraq. Tell your color commentator that my wife and I say hello to The Versatile, Mr. All-Around Michael Crews. This thread fell off the first page. One of the biggest games in the state this week. Enough with the niceities. Who is going to be the first to post bulletin board material? Is it true that Gibson is reconsidering a name change to "Mater Dei North" or "Evansville Northmetro" or "Toyota South?" Such a shame that Heritage Hills isn't Abraham Lincoln High School ... North and South Spencer get in big debates about renaming the county "Lincoln County..."
  19. Thanks for the plug of TGD Predictor Tool. There are some recent case samples of Linton and North Knox beating Boonville. Boonville was the Big 8 champ last year and "looks like" a 4A roster. Linton and NK exploited execution problems. The problem isn't with a good 2A or 3A school (with a good line) matching 11 vs 11. It's an attrition problem. Even in 3A, you are really only playing 18-24 players multiple ways. Give me Mater Dei 2001 or Chatard 2003 against any 6A school since if I can split the quarters played separated by a week or two days... It's the 18 vs. 44 players (attrition) that is the issue. I think 7-on-7s have proven that small school position players can match up with bigger schools, especially if you mix in a few D1 recruits and 3-4 DII/III/NAIA recruits at key positions. OK, I'm ready to wear the crazy hat for the next week.
  20. Is Week 5 ready @WCGrad92??? I'm waiting to tweet it!
  21. The IHSAA says it starts from one of the four corners of the state and groups sectionals on a four cycle basis. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. Transparency should be of utmost importance in alignments and tournament draws. I believe the coaches' association is the only entity capable of applying that pressure. Strange to imagine Chatard used to be in the same regional as the SW 3A sectional (24, now 32). Obviously, the population in northern Indiana is pushing the line northward... Maybe time to look at random semistate and regional draws, instead of preset ones...
  22. Threw off the end zone cameras at the last HS game that I was at.
  23. Denny's will usually fill with players an hour or two after the game, but should have seats immediately after. There's also a Wendy's. I believe Lincoln Land pizza going by HH is closed and likely wouldn't be open after the game. On 231, I would turn right into Dale and stop at Jenks Pizza for a local establishment... Probably best to avoid the Chateau in Mariah Hill after the game or Santa Claus Legion... Although if you are feeling adventurous, go for it. Jenks it is then. I suggest the strombolli.
  24. The HH secondary and their conditioning is the big question. I see a lot of GS rushes then playaction at opportune times being the challenge for one dimensional HH.
