  1. No one is arguing the PAC is better or the Big 8 is better than the SIAC. I just don't just don't see how anyone can say the SIAC is better overall than it was 10 years ago in football. I'd love to run the Sagarin ratings as a comparison.
  2. You still need that 4A/5A presence that Reitz and Castle historically privode
  3. Without Reitz and Castle taking a hiatus for softer sports, the SIAC is a shadow in football of what it once was. Yes it is good to see Central restored but I'm not sure how long that will last. Perhaps the injection of new blood will help.
  4. In all fairness I have lots of respect for VL, but it's hard to take this game seriously when you have Southridge and Gibson sitting at home. Thank you IHSAA in your infinite wisdom.
  5. Exactly, come Saturday we'll be reading about mistakes and missed opportunities. Rarely do teams at this level get criticized for strategy.
  6. There hasn't been much hype around Mater Dei since the Schiffs broke every state passing record in the late 90s and 2000s. But Mater Dei doesn't need hype to be one of the Top 3 2A teams year in and out. They are extremely disciplined, conditioned, and well coached. When they get a stud or two, it's an automatic state finals birth. Cover the seams and flats while trying to contain a physical running attack is the difficulty in defending them. Defensively, they will bend and count on you to break. Solid special teams. It's a formula that has worked for one of the best coaches ever to step on the field in Indiana.
  7. Bcaster is one of the best in the state. A consummate professional who will undoubtedly be in the Hof one day. I think baseball is his true love, but covering Heritage Hills, South Spencer, and Rockport Legion for more than 20 years... He has become the voice of each respective program.
  8. Lawrenceburg sure has bounced around classification wise? What's the trend now, do you think you'll stay on the 2A/3A line. (Yes I know when L'Burg won some of those early titles there were only three classes.)
  9. Ain't some from Paradise? Probably just want to win Catholic hearts and minds on the Westside.
  10. You made the comment. Back it up. We don't get legacy status...
  11. Just boring old power Wishbone, assignment football. You can't try to blitz or predict against the Wishbone.
  12. No. Mater Dei played a 3A/4A city schedule in the SIAC. They'll be fine and have THE most disciplined coach in the state. I foresee no problems on that or the traveling fronts.
  13. It's not and never have been. The picks are likely Sagarin mixed in with Harrels opinion. Maybe he has a formula, but I am not aware.
  14. Where are our friends from Batesville. I'd be very interested to hear their input, given as how they are the only EIAC team HH has history with. HH will be just fine. How many Wishbone teams has Lawrenceburg faced? A scrambling quarterback has presented problems to HH over the years, but this is probably the best LB and DL HH has had in more than a decade. Picking on No. 3 could be a grave mistake if that's the route the Tigers take. We all saw him playing the ball, after a harsh Monday reminder, watch for the masked corner cover.
  15. In on Page 2 of what's likely to be the longest game thread of 2019.
  16. It's the last time I've heard Chatard described as unbeatable, and debeatedly the best team in school history. Let's see how the next two weeks play out and then we will have a nice discussion leading up to the state finals.
  17. I doubt this team is better than the 2004 Chatard team but think as you want. With teenagers anything can happen.
  18. Crawford County like Pike Central has a whole host of socioeconomic problems. Additionally, Crawford has zero football tradition and other fall sports like CC are regularly state final participants. Many schools in SW Indiana have strong athletic programs like Bare-Reeve and Loogootee and NE Dubois. Cooping makes a lot of sense in that part of the state.
  19. Game Day. Who is bringing home hardware? Post scores and updates for the game(s) you are following or tweet them @gridirondigest Enjoy November football.
