  1. Coach Webb, while young, has always been tough-minded and intelligent. Being a SS grad, he knows the lie of the land and I'm sure if his team keeps performing as they did against HH, he'll be fine for a few years, then he'll likely dictate where he wants to coach (I know that's a lot to assume two wins in, but if they beat SS, it'll be 3-0 in rival games -- they matter).
  2. Week 3 Memorial vs. Central (at North) ... Did Memorial just not want to give Central the added advantage of playing at home or are there other reasons for playing this game at North? To add to the confusion, Bosse is at Castle, so why is this game not being played at Enlow?
  3. 1. Central 2. North 3. Reitz 4. Southridge 5. Vincennes 6. Jasper 7. Mount Vernon 8. Castle 9. Tell City 10. Forest Park HM: GS, Memorial, Mater Dei,
  4. HH puts it in its Thursday pre-game post. https://www.facebook.com/hhqbclub
  5. Would really make for an interesting season if Memorial is able to beat North.
  6. Interested to see how Southridge tries to contain Mockobee. It's my understanding he projects more as an ATH/WR in college, but last week was used as a RB (I assume to get the ball in his hands as much as possible). Coach Ward is no dummy when he has talent as I remember from his Corydon days, ending Coach Clayton's career in the sectional in an emotional game that saw Coach Clayton's nephew try to go with (I believe) an injured hamstring... I believe some missed kicks also factored into that. I digress. I think this is an interesting matchup, given how long it has been since Southridge and Boonvill played (not in at least 25 years, according to John Harrell's site. I'm too lazy to click through Dan's site to see if Boonville ever played Southridge or even Huntingburg (they had football, right?). ETA: In 1950, Boonville won at Huntingburg 12-0; still unsure if Boonville has ever played Southridge. @Bcaster may know.
  7. Where and when did Coach Brunson play HS football?
  8. I let the subscription to the host server lapse. Let me see if I can find another free one (needs PHP & MYSQL), or if @DK_Barons can setup up gridirondigest.net/predictor like we used to. I appreciate the interest, but likely until Week 6 this year, Sagarin's rankings will be pretty much useless because of all the cancellations, thus it'll take a few more weeks to get all the teams in the state "connected," which is when his ratings become increasingly trustworthly. Who knows, if unfortunately the tournament doesn't happen for some reason, we may need some TGD junkies to simulate what the tournaments would look like... Back to the pre-tournament, polling days.
  9. For the teams which track missed tackles, I wonder how those numbers are looking after film sessions this weekend and what Monday-Tuesday practices will focus on at most schools across the state.
  10. Hoover Wetvac for me... Strange. I spent the weekend vacuuming the apartment. Google is listening. Even, I remember 10 years ago, I posted a workout photo on Facebook that had a Gatorade bottle pictured. What was *the next ad* I saw on Facebook? Gatorade. Coincidence? As I type this, I see a "Stand With Trump" campaign ad. As I fall in the category of independent/libertarian (small l) and I live abroad, I wonder if the algorithm is sending me the Trump ad because it thinks I'm "undecided" or because absentee voters are expected to play a big role in this year's election.
  11. So what's he doing now? How old? I'm guessing around 60?
  12. Please do not make posts personal when they needn't be. This is a warning. We have a forum where politics can be discussed widely, please use that and not this platform that is intended for sports talk. I know the issue is sensitive and linked, but in the end, we can't have posts being personal or aggressive. If you want to call me a Karen or a Nancy, come meet me in the parking lot behind the mosque near my apartment in northern Iraq. With transfers, you should be able to make it within 15 hours.
  13. Are the small guys OK with this? Any concerns of IHSAA TV monopolizing the space due to the relationship between it and the governing body of the IHSAA that permits broadcasting of games by other companies? Honest question. And I honestly think more games streaming is good, it shouldn't affect gates as some fear (maybe in some cases with in-climate weather, but meh...). So I'm just slightly stirring the pot on what is basically just a PR thread in order to allow smaller/other broadcasters to come in and have a say (positive or negative) about the landscape and their industry.
  14. That's a nice offensive interior 7 for Central -- reminds me of Jasper or Reitz of yesteryear.
  15. I ranked Memorial No. 1 in 4A at the start of last year and was mocked. I'm not sure the Tigers have the weapons (or possibility b/c COVID) to make another deep run, but how do you think they stack up in the SIAC? Still the team to beat until they're beat, I'd say.
  16. Time to put this in electronic form and sell it online!
  17. No idea how the cancellations will affect the rankings. Out-of-state games were never counted, but now it will take until Week 5-6 for all teams in the state to be "connected" and Sagarin's ratings to be relevant, IMO.
  18. Do away with Indiana's silly travel rule while we're at it. Just write "so long as the athletic competition doesn't interfere with scholastics anymore than our state tournament currently does..." How many regional and semistate and some regular season competitions force our student athletes to leave before school lets out on Friday. This is permitted because the IHSAA expects the school to require the student athletes to make up that missed class work. Make the same rule for inter-state play... put a limit on the number of interstate games per season, unless you have a border school that plays in a surrounding state's conference and isn't affected by the travel.
  19. That's a bit ambitious. Mount Carmel played in the now dissolved Big 8 as the only Illinois team for two decades (or so). They are a very good 2A team or a solid 3A team (think Southridge). Some years they have gone on state runs in Illinois but they play in a very small class in Illinois. Playing either Cathedral or Chatard would result in a blowout and possibly be dangerous. For a good midstate comparision I'd say they're similar to Indian Creek?
  20. Arent' there NCAA recruiting reasons why this doesn't happen more? Also I think Cathedral plays once or twice at UIndy. Sadly there are no college football stadiums in Evansville since 1997, although historic Bosse Field (baseball) has been used to host games a few times recently on special occasions.
  21. I heard at the HH-Jasper scrimmage all HH players were on a knee on the sideline (tradition so spectators can see); however, this year they were also spaced more than 1 meter/yard apart. Not sure that the Wildcats were as disciplined. 😞
  22. Ahh Patriot Pride. Given HH's success in football, I don't know how many head coaches they have... Burress - NP Wilkerson - H.Hills Alex Bettag - THN (not a head coach maybe DB coach or def coordinator?) I might be missing some. Is Coach Ashworth still up floating around the IPS?
