BTW: As someone who hasn't been in Indiana in two years, but will be in a month (for a holiday visit) -- how far north has the I-69/SR-37 project progressed? Does it still basically end at Martinsville? If I come from Jasper, I'll take US 231 to I-69, but if coming from Santa Claus, it'll be I-64 to I-65 (hopefully no construction around Louisville/Jeffersonville).

Coaches can win games, but players win championships... Coach Goebel has cobbled together a successful season from what at the beginning of the season looked like a wash of a season. That's what HoF coaches do though and I believe Coach Goebel is easily one of the Top 10 coaches statewide over the past two decades... I believe polling to IFCA would support that. That being said "Jimmies and Joes, Not Xs and Os" ... "Players Win Championships" ... I'm not sure Mater Dei has the horses of to reach the finish line first, but I know the Wildcats will scratch and claw the whole way. First possessions should tell us a lot!

Evansville North is a very socioeconmically mixed school ... very urban, low-income families mixed with CG-like Evansville sprawl on the northside. You can guess which side of the tracks the girls' golf team comes from.

Many similarities between Southridge 2020 and HH 2019. Expecting a very close and physical game against Danville.

It's not even the number of schools which give programs an advantage though. The quality of most Catholic feeder programs is the real difference maker. Some public schools can replicate it, but it's no easy task. Castle had it under Lidy down to such a science even HH players went there, including Jay Cutler. South Spencer and Jasper's baseball programs are set up to maximize the number of players in the system.

How far does Memorial need to advance over the next two years to stay in 4A?

Westfield used to be 3A/4A. They've become Carmel North over the past 15 years. Most definitely would prefer Chatard over playing at Carmel. Evansville Memorial over Castle. Best of both worlds...

Umm statistically any given year a sectional has a 25 percent chance of being represented at state.

I'd wager you can't find a HC in Indiana that would agree with you, especially given the extra reassurance that Southwood doesn't have COVID-19. Every coach I've heard has said they want to play if it can be done safely.

Even a broken clock is right twice per day. Computer rankings which report margin of error or confidence should be trusted more. But a rankings system that only looks at games played and two teams have no connected opponents, I don't see how a rating can be given without caveats...

Probably if they are following the model of the UFC and testing everyone and testing everyone frequently. For the WS, the players, coaches, umpires, support staff, etc. probably aren't allowed out of their hotel unless it's to get on a bus.

Oh, I had that 4A team ranked No. 1 in SW Indiana last year all season, just as I've had Central, despite early calls for North to be there. Also predicted Memorial and Mater Dei would end the season much higher than they began. Regardless, it's still probably Central or Jasper's sectional to lose. Jasper won't win another 4A sectional title until they are pushed out of the current geography or they have a losing record in baseball under Terry Goebert. Forever cursed for dismantling the Big 8 Well rooting against Jasper has never been hard, so hopefully this won't bite me in the rear in a few weeks.

I assume the IHSAA and Lucas Oil have been in touch with relevant Marion County and state health authorities to see what real effect emptying and "cleaning" the stadium between games would actually do to thwart the spread of the virus. It's not b exactly like every surface will get sterilized which makes social distancing the bigger concern... I'd be quite surprised if they can fit six games in two days with a policy of emptying and cleaning between games.

No computer rankings can be accurate with closed conferences. If seeding is ever supported by the coaches, teams must play at least 2 or 3 non-conference games. This leads into other possibilities like splitting conferences and making week 9 or 10 with a 10-week season (not game) a conference championship week where MIC North #1 plays MIC South #1...etc. But again, it's the coaches and ADs and principals who would have to push for it, not the IHSAA.

What happened to the kicker from Columbus, or was it Brownsburg? Didn't he go to Florida and projected to play in the NFL?
