I think Coach Ralph and New Pal might have something to say about Whiteland being given the sectional title already and I know Coach Kirschner and the Mauraders have something to say about giving Roncalli the regional title. That said I'd favor Whiteland over New Pal based mostly on depth and health but they won't lie down for Whiteland. And I'd favor Mt. Vernon slightly over Roncalli in a regional at this point. Should be fun in both circumstances.

I knew New Pal would lose a regular season game this year. Thought it would be Decatur Central. And after 2 Dragons games I said they'd lose to Mt Vernon. Kirschner has done a tremendous job with that program and the Dragons graduated too much talent and have been utterly decimated with injuries all year. After 6 straight years of being very healthy I guess it was just time.

No chance Coach Ralph punts there, you're absolutely right. Still doesn't make it necessarily the best decision. My point is you make an offense that can't consistently throw it go as far as possible in that situation.

It was a terrible decision to go for it and even worse play call. 1. Why risk giving good field position where CG only has to go 25 yards to get in FG range? 2. CG can't throw the ball consistently at all so the likelihood of them going 60 yards to potentially get a tying FG attempt is very slim. 3. If you do insist being aggressive and trying to end it right there why not give it to Langdon who CG couldn't tackle the entire 4th quarter? At the end of the day Peebles gave CG all the momentum with 2 bad decisions and it cost the Irish the game. That said they're going to roll to a 5A title with little to no resistance and this game will be forgotten.

As much as it pains me I'll go with Mt. Vernon. Undefeated, legit state title shot and they literally finally slayed the Dragons ending the 2nd longest regular season win streak in state history along with ending the Dragons 7 year stranglehold on the HHC.

This is a Cathedral wins but whatever margin they choose game.

If they have a legit point or some basis in fact then fine. But to just throw stuff ldagainst the wall to see who you can aggravate is childish and annoying.

When you graduate 22 seniors from a varsity roster in the 40s that tends to have a major impact. Don't care how great the coach or program has become, a 50% roster turnover plus a team thats been decimated by early season injuries makes it tough to keep up the ridiculous standard that has been established at New Pal. If that happens I expect the score to be more lopsided in the opposite direction than last year. Similar to last year the teams aren't on the same level but I'd say the difference is more significant this year.

They were pretty clearly the better team. It'll be interesting to see how New Pal reacts going forward.

And MTV very much looks like the better team. That is correct and it is very much in jeopardy. New Pal still can't find an offense and their secondary is very young and it shows.

I would hope a coaching staff would put players safety above all else.

Given NPs inexperienced secondary and still looking for an identity on offense I'd say at this point the Irish are at least 3 TDs better than NP. That said I think NP will improve a ton and hope to see another Irish v Dragons in the regional in a few months.

Based on returning talent from last year and moreso on performance so far this season I'd say Cathedral is significantly better than everyone else in 5A. Now its a long season and we have potential covid issues, injuries and teams will improve as the season goes on but at this point it looks like 5A is Cathedral's title to lose.

28-8 New Pal final. Dragons very rusty on offense as expected. Secondary struggled a little as expected(graduated top 8 DBs last year) but all things considered a decent performance against a good, not great opponent.

According to an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer the game is being played on Saturday. I'd assume that to be accurate despite what Maxpreps and John Harrell sites show.

Always room on the Dragons bandwagon out in New Pal. Friday nights are awesome in Hancock County. If you prefer a larger school and a great atmosphere there's honestly none better than Ray Skillman Stadium down in Center Grove.

I don't dislike it but I think its just going to open things up for complaints from damn near everyone and more criticism for the IHSAA. With the current format everyone knows what's what from the get go. Now we're leaving things up to the IHSAA to make a good decision in a very short time-frame?? Recipe for disaster if you ask me. They're either too lazy or not smart enough to seed a tournament so what makes anyone think this will work out well.

The secondary is the biggest question mark I think. I believe all 5 were at least 3 year starters, that's a lot of talent and experience to replace. Can't wait for the season to start.

Not sure I'd put New Pal in the top tier, especially early on. Roughly 40% of the roster graduated with a ton of key players to replace. Not saying the Dragons won't be a factor, but a lot will depend on how quickly the young guys step up.

I've watched alot of Korean baseball. And enjoy watching your boys while you can. Mine are all grown and gone. Ive now moved to watching alot of a friends kids travel games. Lol. I could never get too much baseball.

Very much missing baseball, hockey, tennis and golf. I've watched alot of the "new" tennis format and can't wait till its back for real. Missed the NCAA hoops tournament but not the NBA 1 iota.
