Hi there everyone. Week 1 is finally here and this week, the Center Grove Trojans travel to Warren Central to take on the defending 6A Champion Warriors. This is becoming quite the rivalry. What are your thoughts and predictions for this? It will be close, but I'll take the Warriors in a hard fought victory. My final score, 35-28. Let's hear it.

Go Warriors!!! 2018 6A State Champs

Jayson West proved once again how tremendous of a coach he is.  We really miss him at Lawrence Central.

Not so much how good a coach he is. CG handled them pretty easily, turnovers and poor officiating cost them.

Care to elaborate with some specifics?

CG lost 4 fumbles.  Muffed a punt that they recovered.  And had another fumble blown dead that probably should not have been.  Warren's defense was pretty darn good at forcing those turnovers.  Was very impressed by #27 defensively.

Love to hear some specifics on this one.

there is video of it on twitter

I will see if I can find it.

That would be terrific. Although I don’t suppose you can hear a whistle in the video.

100% true

I saw both personal foul calls on film.  Both were warranted.  And the call above actually was in CG favor.  Was not ruled a fumble.

True, but throughout the course of the game there were some very questionable calls. But that’s not what determined the whole game, turnovers screwed them

So, in other words, mistakes on offense against a good defense.

CG was moving the ball at will against them all night.

That doesn't mean much at the end of the game if you couldn't hold onto it.

Couldnt help but notice big #54 Ethan Crowe in that film clip.  He is listed as a 6-5, 300lb SR center.   We see guards and tackles this size but rarely at the center position.

What are his college prospects?

Is he a Big Ten talent?

He was recently offered a PWOS at Clemson has several offers from other D1 schools.

Actually you can.

Clearly, the ruling by the covering official is that the runner was down by forward progress before the ball came out. That is supportable on this clip. Had it been ruled a fumble and a recovery, that would also be supportable. This is just one of those judgment calls that gets made all the time ... and is always controversial. Can”t tell from the brief clip whether the crew handled it correctly from a mechanics standpoint. But I have no issue with the call itself.
