Bobref Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I don’t know which is funnier, Harbaugh taking possession of the “Pete Carroll Award,” or the NCAA thinking anyone cares that they’ve now dropped the hammer on Khaki Boy. I think Harbaugh’s lawyer said it best: “The way I see it, from Coach Harbaugh's perspective, today's COI decision is like being in college and getting a letter from your high school saying you've been suspended because you didn't sign the yearbook," Mars said. "If I were in Coach Harbaugh's shoes and had an $80 million contract as head coach of the Chargers, I wouldn't pay any attention to the findings of a kangaroo court which claims to represent the principles of the nation's most flagrant, repeat violator of the federal antitrust laws," he added. Muda69 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Not entirely a weasel move by the NCAA. When Mr. Harbaugh fails again as an NFL coach and tries to flee back to the college ranks he would at least be immediately suspended from coaching for the first year, at least thru 2028: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2024/08/07/jim-harbaugh-sanctioned-for-involvement-in-um-recruiting-probe-here-are-details/74702983007/ Quote ... The NCAA released its final 48-page public decision from the Division I Committee on Infractions on Wednesday and said Harbaugh failed to “meet his responsibility to cooperate with the investigation.” The show-cause order is from Aug. 7, 2024, through Aug. 6, 2028, and if hired during the show-cause order, Harbaugh would be suspended for 100% of the first season of employment. A show-cause penalty is the way the NCAA makes certain a punishment of a coach is transferred to any other member school that hires the individual while the sanctions remain in effect. The school and coach must report to the NCAA every six months until the end of the show-cause penalty. ... Quote

His record was 49-22-1. In four years, he led the San Francisco 49ers to three-straight NFC Championship Games, including an appearance in Super Bowl XLVII. A lot of guys would like to “fail” that way. Quote

Harbaugh had a pretty successful run in the NFL. As a Steelers fan, I'd be thrilled Tomlin could lead Pittsburgh to three straight AFC title appearances. It'll never happen, he's average at best. Likable guy, but average football coach at a way 'above average football' organization. Quote

Can you tell me specifically from an X’s and O’s standpoint why any of this matters and what advantage it actually gave Michigan as they ran roughshod (literally) over their opponents, had 13 guys (6 OL) drafted and actually went 8-0, including 5-0 against ranked opponents once Stalions was let go? Who am I to question the NCAA? 🤣😂 One thing to keep in mind is that these sanctions have nothing to do with the sign stealing scandal. That shoe has yet to drop. Some takes don’t even deserve a response so I don’t know why I’m even wasting my time here. Is winning 70% of your games in the NFL considered “successful?” Edited August 9, 2024 by temptation Quote

Bobref Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 Well, this is a nice little “F*#@ You!” from Michigan to the NCAA. 🤣😂😅 https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40796043/jim-harbaugh-michigan-honorary-captain-opener Jim Harbaugh to be Michigan's honorary captain for opener Jim Harbaugh will be back at Michigan Stadium for the Wolverines' season opener. The former Michigan coach has accepted an invitation to be the team's honorary captain for the Wolverines' Aug. 31 game against Fresno State. "I look forward to having him back in Ann Arbor for that game," Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said in an interview on the "1 Star Recruits" podcast.
