Sorry I didn't get the schedule up yet.  Thanks to those who picked already!

Friday, Sep. 13
Culver at Winamac ©, 7 pm
North Miami at North Judson ©, 7:30 pm
Pioneer at Caston ©, 7 pm
Triton at South Central ©, 7:30 pm

Winamac.

I liked what I saw defensively for the most part against Pioneer. I think Winamac will be able to run up the middle some but I'd like to see them use their speed to the outside. I think the score will be 28-13

Judson 50. North Miami 8

Pioneer 42 Caston 6

Triton 40. South Central 8.

Culver at Winamac

Over the last few weeks we have heard about Winamac and them finding an identity. Culver is kind of sitting in the same boat, but for them it's all about that gas. Saw good things from both teams, but I think Winamac takes it. This game could very well go back forth and has the potential to be close. Give me Winamac 28 Cavs 22

North Miami at Judson

North Miami is the dark horse under the radar team of the HNAC. I saw a lot of posts about the Sheridan game. Honestly, after watching some of the game Sheridan had last year and watching them this year, I think Sheridan is better than they were last year. Just my take. I just think North Miami is a better team and is rightfully under the radar. I am going to be interested to see how they fair going up against a pretty similar offense. Judson the heavy favorites and will continue to be so. Interesting matchup most definitely. Jays 35 NM 15

Pioneer at Caston

Pioneer uses this game to reload and get their feet under themselves as the next few weeks for them are going to be pretty tough. Caston is still working hard and making teams earn it. Pioneer 49 Caston 12

Triton at South Central

Triton is 6-0 over the last 6 seasons against South Central. 4 of those games have been decided by 2-3 points. Triton has shown weakness in the passing game and has had some costly penalties over the last games. The strong point of the Triton defense is the front 7. If the Triton offense does what it did against LaVille, control the clock, clean up the penalties, eliminate the turnovers, Triton wins big. If Triton does not clean up the mistakes on both sides of the ball, this game will be a shoot out till the end. Triton 35 SC 20

Culver @ Winamac- Warriors will bounce back this week and build some confidence for the back half of the season

North Miami @ Judson- North Miami is off to a great start this year, but the Jays will win this in convincing fashion

Pioneer at Caston- Pioneer will win this, but could be closer than people think. Caston looked much improved against North Miami compared to their game against North White. Pioneer still needs to clean things up in all three phases, but will get the win in the second half.

Triton @ SCUM- Trojans win this game early

Here are Harrell's predictions:

Winamac, 28-17

North Judson, 42-14

Pioneer, 38-17

Triton, 38-14

I think he's got the winners, but he might be a little skinny on the margins.

Friday, Sep. 13

Culver at Winamac - I was shocked last week to see the size of Culver's roster.  It's really hard to win when you only have 20 or so players in uniform, knowing that many of them are just not ready for varsity action.  (Attica must be REALLY bad!)  If the West Central scores are any indication, Winamac should win this one by 3-4 scores.  Warriors 34-12

North Miami at North Judson - I've picked against NM every week so far.  They've proven me wrong each time!  I dare you to prove me wrong this week!!  😆  Judson will roll at home...  Jays 45-7

Pioneer at Caston - It's been hard to get a real good picture of the Panthers just based on their scores.  But I still expect them to be a contender for 2nd place in the conference.  They should get a solid win this week.  Panthers 30-13

Triton at South Central - Apparently South Central likes to put the ball in the air.  They'll need to be successful at throwing it around if they want to hang with the Trojans.  Triton's run D is legit.  In the end, I expect Triton to pick off a couple of those Satellite passes and roll to a win.  Trojans 42-7

Sloppy game for both winamac and Culver.

Winamac lucky go win!

Lucky they got the win*.  Fat fingers!

I'll elaborate more. Culver had two costly turnovers early, winamac scored off both. Culver decided to do what West Central did in the 2nd half, run up the middle and it worked decent.

Both teams had sloppy penalties and fumble issues on the Warrior side.

Xavier Adriano had a really nice pitch to Addison Allen late, thought Tearson Wolford played well. Louis Rugg had a td.

I continue to feel super old, I remember Xaviers dad playing, as Louis' dad, went to school with Wolfords dad and mom and was a grade behind Addison Allen's dad and same grade as his mom.

Oh well. Good for the kids to be 2-1, got Triton, North Miami and North Judson the next 3 weeks, hope the kids play hard, understand all 3 teams have more experience and keep their heads up...brighter days are ahead.

Here are my thoughts on the South Central v Triton. South Central needs to adjust their kickoff return. 3 times last night Triton executed their onside/pooch kick and scored twice to make it 14-0, 3 minutes into the game and could have easily been 21-0 four minutes into the game had Triton not fumbled. Their front line is all big men with 2 guys on the numbers 10 yards behind them, 2 guys in the center in a straight line, and 2 returners. Way too much open space, not enough athletes to get to the ball. Triton easily could have been on offense all night.

Week 5.  Looks like there could be a couple of good games here.

Friday, Sep. 20
North Judson at Culver ©, 7:30 pm
North Miami at Pioneer ©, 7 pm
South Central at Caston ©, 7:30 pm
Triton at Winamac ©, 7 pm

Blue Jays by a lot.

Panthers in a good game. It will be interesting to see how NM bounces back after last week's loss.

Comets get their first win of the season, in spite of their coaching decisions.

Trojans by a lot.

North Judson at Culver: North Judson is a top 5-10 1A team I've ever seen granted I haven't seen 'em all. Would love to see the hypothetical matchups between them and the Kisers' Panthers teams. "They are big, fast, strong, mean, and they're fast." North Judson will score as much as they want. Culver will score as much as North Judson wants them to. Hoping everyone stays healthy on both sides. 55-0 Blue Jays.

North Miami at Pioneer: Warrior's lack of size was apparent early and exploited all night last week. They were able to move the ball fairly decent between the 20s. But taking on NJ down your 2 best linemen and rolling out a pair of 160lb offensive tackles is a recipe for disaster at Liberty Field. I believe this to be the best game of the week in the HNAC. Once more, can NM finish drives against good competition being so small? Only 5 guys on the roster over 200lbs, 2 of them sidelined, and one being the QB. Panthers at home, 35-15.

South Central (Union Mills) at Caston: Long trip for the Satellites. Caston's playmakers make a few more plays throughout. Can they defend the pass? I think just enough. 30-20 Comets

Triton at Winamac: Winamac has some bright spots. There's even better days ahead for the Warriors, but one of them is not this coming Friday night. I still think Triton might be 2nd best in the conference. They roll this week. 40-14 Trojans

Interesting to speculate, but I would take the Panthers by 3-4 scores.  Judson is probably bigger than those Pioneer teams, but I don't think they're as athletic or as disciplined as Pioneer was.  That Kiser-led offense was a machine.  I'm looking forward to seeing the Jays firsthand in Bourbon next week, and they may prove me wrong.  But I just don't see it at this point.

Judson - Young guys get in very early. 56-0

Pioneer- NM had an early stop and a decent drive against NJ but couldn't finish it. If they come out and play like that first drive it could be a good game. Pioneer wins 33-14

SCUM- Satelites come in a little more battle tested and look forward to not playing one of the conferences top teams. 28-13

Triton- I was a little surprised Triton gave up 2 scores to SCUM. (might of been garbage time points, idk) Think they come out and want to shut out the Warriors. 38-0

Judson at Culver

Nothing to see here folks. Just a Blue Jay flying by. Jays 69 Culver 0

South Central at Caston

I have watched a couple of games of the Comets and after watching South Central last week, Caston should have their fun on offense. Triton didn't do anything special running the ball and was able to run the ball at will. I also pointed out that SC refused to adjust their KO Return which cost them 14 points 3 and half minuted into the game and almost 21 points. I am honestly going with Caston on this one. Comets 24 SC 21

North Miami at Pioneer

This should be an absolute fun game to watch Friday in Royal Center. Pioneer has their 3 base plays locked down and are ready to go against the Warriors. The Warriors should be really responsive after their game last week and are going to make it a ball game. Pioneer 35 North Miami 34

Triton at Winamac

Winamac pulled out the nail biter on Friday. Culver had their shots to tie the ball game, but Winamac was able to hold on. I believe that Winamac will put up a better fight than South Central for Triton and will definitely help them heading into next week. Triton needs to complete the mission this week by taking care of the ball, limit penalties, and take care of business. Triton 49 Winamac 7

I don't even think this is North Judson's best team ever let alone beating those Kiser led teams.

Pioneer imo was so good Jack's senior year, they win state without him, albeit closer.

I'd really love to see Winamacs 2000 team face this Judson team. Both teams are very similar. Big offensive lines, very physical style of play and good athletes all over.

Winamac offensive line that year went

215 T

260 G

204 C

324 G

250 T

290 TE

They were also battle tested

Beat 8-0 Frontier by 33. They finished 8-2

Beat  North White in a tough match up who finished 11-3

Beat 8-2 Lewis Cass by 2 who went 8-2

Beat Eastbrook by 35 or 42 who went 7-4

Beat Delphi by 3 tds who went 9-3.

North Judson at Culver - No comments necessary on this one.  Culver is completely outmanned and probably won't have 50 yards of offense - at least not against the NJ varsity.  Bluejays 56-0

North Miami at Pioneer - This is the most intriguing game of the week and the one with the most on the line.  (Potential 2nd place finish in the HNAC)  Both teams are getting votes in the 1A polls and the winner will solidify themselves as one to watch in the tournament.  I tend to think playing at Pioneer is going to be tough for the Warriors.  Pioneer gets a solid win in this one.  Panthers 30-14

South Central at Caston - I'll pick this one to be the closest matchup of the week.  The winner avoids the HNAC basement.  South Central moved the ball through the air on Triton, but couldn't punch it in against the Trojans 1st team D.  I think they'll have success against the Comets on the offensive side.  But will they be able to slow down Caston's offense?  I think this will be a last possession type of game.  A lot of offense on display.  Satellites 34-28

Triton at Winamac - Triton needs to play a fundamentally sound game to prep for next week's showdown with powerhouse Judson.  Having a good game plan and executing well will build some confidence for the big matchup.  Winamac will continue to improve and as long as they can stay positive through this tough stretch of games, they should finish the year with 3 conference wins.  Trojans 49-7

Judson by however much they want

Pioneer by a couple scores I think they’re over looked by some of the early season games but still a good ball club 36-8

South Central to much for caston through the air. Still waiting for this caston group to get going I know there was a lot of hope/hype for these younger guys. 28-16

I don’t know much about triton but I do know if Winamac plays like they did against Culver this one might be ugly. Winamac has good size and athletes to compete Triton is just to much by the end of the night 34-7

Triton up 21-0 at the half, but they are not sharp!  They’ll get pummeled by Judson next week.

I think they'll lose but they won't get pummeled. I thought Winamac's defense looked alright, just some miscues and big plays.

Triton will be fine this season and should be pretty solid next year.

Our kids are definitely sore. Adriano and Wolford took some hits tonight.

Very good game in the Panther Pit tonight. North Miami up 14-7 at half. Maybe the Warriors took naps at halftime. Kickoff and punt coverage will have to be addressed at NM going forward. It’s burned the Warriors several times through 5 games.

Best of luck to both teams in the back half of their seasons!
