FinePrint Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 No question NJ is just as advertised. Triton has a pretty stout run defense, but Judson was just methodical. Their first drive took 10 minutes to drive 80 yards for a score. From there Judson had short fields most of the night and took advantage of that. A couple of TDs passes to Wilcox shooting the gap. They really looked good. And Judson's starters got to play basically a full game, so that's good for them. The size of Triton's O-line was an issue. They just don't have the size to handle big boys. It showed up against Winamac and was very clear this week. Triton will be fine. They'll match up better with Pioneer and North Miami. 1 Quote
FinePrint Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 Here we go... Week 7! Friday, Oct. 4 Culver at Pioneer ©, 7 pm South Central at North Miami ©, 7:30 pm Triton at Caston ©, 7 pm Winamac at North Judson ©, 7:30 pm Quote
FarmerFran Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 - Panthers win big and hopefully rest the starters some before a physical next 2 weeks against Triton and Judson - Warriors by whatever they want - The Comets win streak comes to an end this week at the Trojans pull out the win early - In a game that will be closer than many expect, the Jays only win by 50-60 as their shutout streak continues Quote
TightEndOpenAgain Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I don't see many close games this week for the HNAC. Culver @ Pioneer: Pioneer scores early and often. Running clock starts early 3rd. Culver might score late. 48-8 Panthers South Central (Union Mills) @ North Miami: Very solid win for North Miami last week. Winamac is a nice team with a bright future. NM ran for 420+ in the rain while utilizing several different toters of the pigskin. South Central will be able to throw the ball on the Warrior defense as they haven't consistently stopped a forward pass for nearly 30 years. I don't think the score gets out of hand as NM has been methodical with a lot of drives chewing up a good amount of clock. 34-14 Warriors Triton @ Caston: The Comet streak comes to an end in Fulton on Friday. Triton defensive front dominates from the start. 48-0 Trojans Winamac @ North Judson: Worst time of the year for the Warriors to be short-handed. I think they can score late, but I'm not a betting man. 58-0 Blue Jays roll on. Quote
littledog Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Do any of the underdogs score this week? Culver at Pioneer- Panthers continue to round into form. Pioneer 48-0 South Central at North Miami- NM has turned out to be a good addition to the conference. 42-0 Triton at Caston- Win streak ends here. Triton rebounds with another strong defensive effort. 35-0 Winamac at North Judson- This game starts slow because Winamac always treats this like a Rivalry game and Judson does not. However, judson still wins big. 50-0 Quote

I think they did Cheyennes senior year. I thought last year Winamac played UP to North Judson. I think that might have been the first game back for Bucinski, Jones and the 2nd game Tucker Fox played. I misunderstood littledog hopefully. I can tell you it was very similar to the 2014-2016 winamac teams.. kids didn't take Judson as serious. I had a kid I did stats for say "who cares, it's North Judson, they stink" I was like nah dude. I don't care what the records are I want to beat NJ! I really like Rabe Frasure, Rob Shidler and Alvin Harper. 3 great dudes. Lot of respect for them! Quote

I didn’t say it wasn’t a rivalry. Take offense to it if you want but this time it wasn’t meant to be. Judson just takes it as another game against an opponent. Not just in football either.’ Prime example is last years basketball game. Judson was flat all game And showed very little emotion. Meanwhile Winamac stormed the court for a regular season win. Quote

Outside of 2022 and 2023, Winamac has had a bit of success against NJ in that sport which is why I didn't get why they did it and disagreed with it. Quote
Jays Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Where would you rank the schools in the HNAC in terms of football facilities? Here's mine, 1. North Judson (5 plus years ago, we would be in the middle of the pack. Our AD and coaches have done wonders to Liberty field) The field paint crew might be the best in state. 2. Triton (New updated bleachers and a very nice field) 3. Caston (Pretty cool set up) 4. Pioneer (Haven't been there in a couple years) Still have nightmares of the cannon from the Kiser teams LOL 5. Culver (New updates and has a nice field, not very good painted lines) 6. Winamac (I've always felt claustrophobic there LOL, everything seems tucked in but, overall nice) 7. North Miami ("Field pitch" isn't very good, great drainage though LOL. Away bleachers are very small 8. South Central ("Field pitch" is horrible. Away locker room is a pole barn with no showers or restroom) Quote
FinePrint Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 It doesn't appear there will be any really good games this week. Maybe someone will surprise us... Culver at Pioneer - Playing at the Panther Pit is always a challenge. Culver won't put up much resistance for the Panther Wing T offense. It should definitely be a running clock soon after halftime. Panthers 54-0 South Central at North Miami - I'm pleased that North Miami has jumped right into the HNAC and made themselves at home! Unfortunately not quite the same for the Satellites. It's the battle of the HNAC newcomers this week. Gotta give the edge to the Warriors. It'll be a long drive home for South Central. Warriors 49-6 Triton at Caston - The Trojans could come into this game a little flat thinking they can win just by showing up. I think Caston will punch them in the mouth before the Trojans wake up and take over. Caston takes the 7-0 lead in the first, then gets shut out when the Triton kids decide to play. In the end it will be a lopsided win. Trojans 42-7 Winamac at North Judson - It won't matter who thinks this is a rivalry game and who doesn't. Winamac won't have 50 yards of offense all night. Judson will do whatever they darn well please. Running clock at halftime. Bluejays 66-0 Quote

I love Caston’s field without a track around it. Pioneers upgrades are awesome. Press box is VERY nice Haven’t been to Culver in several years, but no complaints I’ve never seen a game at Winamac nor South Central. Looking forward to visiting. Noticed SC doesn’t have stands on the “visitors” side North Miami playing surface is really nice, and the grounds crew puts a lot of time and effort into it. The crown has to be the worst in the state. If you’re not used to it, simple flat/out routes become very challenging because if you don’t aim for the feet, you’re going to sail it onto the track. Amount of seating is a bit embarrassing. Concessions are amazing though. Best meat/cheese dog around. They’ve actually won an award for concessions on hickory husker Quote

I haven't been to most of these schools in many years, but you definitely aren't wrong about North Miami. Plus, their long jump pit is right next to the south end zone and causes the corner to go uphill. I haven't been to Caston, but not having a track is a cool feature. Really shrinks the stadium and makes the fans feel like they are right on top of you. Quote
Trojan67 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Culver at Pioneer Pioneer has their 3 base plays ready to go. Going to be a lot of running up and down the field. Pioneer 54 Culver 0 South Central at North Miami Longest road trip of the season for any team. The Warriors should pretty well-oiled heading into the last couple of weeks and shouldn't have any problem with running the ball tonight. NM 54 SC 12 Winamac at Judson I stand behind my decision not to post my prediction score from last week because I wasn't sure what to expect out Triton. I think it was pretty evident that the Jays have the Joe's. One thing that I think that Winamac should see small successes at is hitting the edges. Judson has a downhill front 7. Running up the middle is not going to work. But that means nothing if Judson holds the ball on offense all night. Judson 63 Winamac 0 Triton at Caston Honestly, Caston should feel some confidence. A young team going against a Triton who seems to struggle with Caston at times. Last year was one of those times as Triton got out on the Comets early, but didn't score anything in the second half. If Triton comes out and wants to move the ball, they need to understand that Caston is built on toughness and that the next 2 games aren't going to come easy. Triton needs to take care of the ball, eliminate penalties and play their game. Caston can make it interesting if Triton comes out flat-footed. Triton 42 Caston 21 Quote

hondo17 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 (edited) Early thoughts from the game. Judson is big as advertised. Their two studs on the OL/DL were impressive. I think both could play in college. Really didn't see much of McDaniel running (didn't really have to) but saw his passing. He's improved a lot in that area. Wilcox didn't get many carries (didn't have to again) but was impressive. Benson just trucked dudes and had some big runs. The only thing that worries me about NJ is the fact outside of the first two weeks, their starters really haven't gone into the 4th Q. I also think teams could maybe throw on them a tad (Knox had some success) and if a line is just as big or physical, the opponents could have success running to the outside. Is this the best Judson team I've seen? The 2002 and 2022 Jays imo are but this Judson team doesn't have Luers or Adams Central to worry about. Stay healthy NJ, only team probably stopping you from getting to state is yourselves. I was impressed with Winamacs Ethan Burgess, Talen Garner and again Aidan Schooler along with Addison Allen. FinePrint Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 Things went according to expectations last night it seems. I assume the Winamac score was against the JV defense. Or did the Bluejays give up a legit defensive score? Triton was ahead 42-0 at the half and cruised in the second half. Workman had a big night. Culver put up more points on Pioneer than I expected. I know one was on a 70+ yard run. How did the Cavs get their other points? No surprise on the NM South Central score. The next couple of weeks should have some interesting matchups, beginning with Pioneer and Triton next Friday. Quote

RingLeader Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Culver hit two big pass plays and scored on one. Pioneer led 45-6 start of third w running clock. Pioneer Jv played second half Culver punched in two. Pioneer bigger concern is 5-6 starters left game with leg injuries. Never seen so many Quote
