TightEndOpenAgain Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 I see 2-3 at least *somewhat* interesting games this week in the HNAC. Hoping for a repeat of last Friday's weather. BEAUTIFUL!! Caston @ North Judson: "RUTS" game of the week watch, but it won't be to the fault of NJ. Senior night at Liberty field for a talented group. They go out with a bang. 62-0 Blue Jays North Miami @ Culver: Solid win for NM last week. If anybody is competent at all in the pass game, the Warriors are in trouble. Gave up 380 yards through the air to SC. Game of pitch and catch for the Satellites with little resistance, but they struggled to finish drives. Warriors were able to run for 540 on just 35 carries albeit SC's defense has struggled all year. Timing between backs and linemen are clicking. Culver will move the ball and score a couple times, but NM will be too much over the course of 48 minutes. 34-14 Warriors Pioneer @ Triton: Definitely the game of the week in the conference. I can see this going either way. Transitively it's very close, but Pioneer's scores are just a bit better. Genuinely curious how it shakes out. Pioneer can clinch 2nd place in the HNAC with a win. If Triton can pull it out at home (and it's possible), there's a possibility of a 3way tie for 2nd. I think it stays pretty low scoring. I'll say 24-20 Panthers South Central @ Winamac: The Satellites surprised me a bit with how efficient they were offensively last Friday. But like mentioned previously, that had a good amount to do with how much NM struggles stopping a pass. The backup QB has a nice arm, and the receivers are athletic. Winamac will score easily and often. 48-8 Warriors Quote

littledog Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Caston at North Judson - Jays roll on senior night. Caston should have a good matchup next week with Winamac. 56-0 North Miami at Culver- Warriors ground game is too much for the Cavaliers. 40-14 Pioneer at Triton- Game of the week for sure. Right now i think it's a pretty close matchup but Pioneer probably has the better offense. Pioneer 21-7 South Central at Winamac- SCUM stays winless in the conference. 35-14 Quote
FinePrint Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 Caston at North Judson - This should be another running clock shutout by the Bluejays. It sets up a regular season finale against Pioneer, which will have a bearing on the HNAC championship. Hopefully the Jays can stay healthy for their tournament push. Bluejays 56-0 North Miami at Culver - I don't expect this one to be close, but I think the Cavs will get on the board. If they can score on Triton and Pioneer, they should be able to put up some points on North Miami. But NM will control the line of scrimmage and win this one going away. Warriors 35-14 Pioneer at Triton - This is the game of the week in the HNAC, and maybe one of the best 1A games in the state! I expect this one to go down to the wire! The winning team will be the one that plays mistake-free football for 48 minutes. Every drive will be significant in this one. I'm taking the Trojans at home on senior night. A Workman field goal will be the winning margin. Trojans 24-21 South Central at Winamac - The Satellites will throw it around all night long! They'll surely hit on a couple of big plays, but Winamac will win this one in the trenches. I look for both teams to put up points. Warriors 34-20 Quote

I think both could play in college. Really didn't see much of McDaniel running (didn't really have to) but saw his passing. He's improved a lot in that area. Wilcox didn't get many carries (didn't have to again) but was impressive. Benson just trucked dudes and had some big runs. The only thing that worries me about NJ is the fact outside of the first two weeks, their starters really haven't gone into the 4th Q. I also think teams could maybe throw on them a tad (Knox had some success) and if a line is just as big or physical, the opponents could have success running to the outside. Is this the best Judson team I've seen? The 2002 and 2022 Jays imo are but this Judson team doesn't have Luers or Adams Central to worry about. Stay healthy NJ, only team probably stopping you from getting to state is yourselves. I was impressed with Winamacs Ethan Burgess, Talen Garner and again Aidan Schooler along with Addison Allen. I agree with this being the best Judson team for a very long time (maybe ever?). For a 1A school, the line is just scary. Then, have Wilcox, Benson and the McDaniels behind it .... The 02Jays also had an awesome line with dual threat Schultz behind it. They just ran into a team with multi D1 players and a kid (Anthony Spencer) that went on to play for the Cowboys. It's part of the game though. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Quote
Trojan67 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Caston at Judson Not much to see here. Judson flying faster than the Comets. Judson 60 Caston 0 North Miami at Culver I have said it pretty much all season that the Warriors have been the dark horse. But one thing is for certain, Culver could potentially have a shot to make this a ball game. If Culver's line holds up, what can they do in the passing game. Should be a fun game, but NM takes it. NM 42 Culver 20 South Central at Winamac From the sounds of it South Central had one of their best offensive performances of the year, but could execute and again couldn't stop a run play. Winamac should have ease running the ball against the SC defense and shouldn't have a hard time stopping SC's run game. Winamac 42 South Central 28 Pioneer at Triton Over the last few seasons, this has been a pretty good rivalry that has been brewing. Pioneer comes in with their 3 plays that they will stick to on offense and Triton will be coming in with multiple looks as they try to figure out how to score. Triton defensively needs to keep Rans in the box and get some turnovers. Triton has had more opportunities this season playing full games with their 1s and 2s on the field and think that this will be the advantage. Triton 27 Pioneer 24 Quote

hondo17 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Winamac up 44-6 at half. Winamac finally got a couple kids back. Xavier Adriano, Michael Shidler and Aiden Schooler back to playing defense as well. Hopefully Lucas Perez, Cody Wheeler and Louis Rugg will be back next week. Quote
hondo17 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Winamac 50 South Central 12. Winamac moves to 3-4 on the season. Happy the seniors Reed Anderson, Aiden Schooler, Talen Garner and Addison Allen got a W in their last regular season home game. Pretty nice to see multiple guys score. Senior Addison Allen with two tds, Junior Ethan Burgess, Sophomore Tearson Wolford, freshman Hunter Haschel and Sophomore Ivan Cardenas all scored. I can't remember winamac ever starting six freshman through out the year, future is bright. Quote
FinePrint Posted October 12, 2024 Author Posted October 12, 2024 A good game by two pretty good 1A teams last night! Both had long scoring drives and both had a couple of big plays. No turnovers, but some damaging penalties for both teams. I think both teams have a couple of injuries they're dealing with, but that's pretty typical for late in the season. Pioneer's roster is pretty small and they don't appear to be very deep. I thought they looked pretty tired by midway in the 2nd half. But that's just the nature of 1A football. I think Judson will win pretty easily next week. Triton will have their hands full with North Miami. And then it's on to the tournament. Quote
RingLeader Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Pioneer dressed 23 last night, 9 not dressed for variety of issues. If there’s a bright spot for Pioneer it has to be they return all 22 starters next year. Quote

And what are the odds they move rans (be the featured tailback) off QB and start popejoy (bet it's pretty high) 22 starters but how many kids? I imagine they have atleast five or 6 going both ways. Assuming he was talking about last night’s starters. Smith didn’t play last night at guard or dline. Rine didn’t play last night at wingback or safety. Both are top 5 in tackles on defense and contributors on offense. Triton came out and executed their game plan well. Pioneer was making week 1 alignment and execution mistakes defensively and triton made them pay. Pioneer, in general, has 1 senior that gets significant time on both sides of the ball. We have 4 juniors, 2 sophomores and 1 freshman that play both sides. We have a few one way guys. This is the 2nd year in a row where we have had 5 or less seniors on the team. Starting next year numbers should start going in the upward direction with some bigger for pioneer classes coming through. Quote

Coach Nowlin Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Irishman Athletic Director 6.2k Author Posted August 31, 2022 · IP (edited) For those who feel strongly enough that rumors should be allowed on the site, keep in mind a couple things. 1. These standards were the same standards that Tim Adams, the creator of this site had in place. 2. This is HIGH SCHOOL football, not college or pro football where athletes and coaches are paid very well to do what they do. We are talking about kids, teachers, and parents. Posting rumors of those people puts indivi9duals in a spotlight that they do not necessarily deserve. As far injury rumors, every student has a right to privacy. Posting of possible injuries to specific players without their knowing is a significant violation of their right to privacy. This is not the place to break news. If there is a story or a public post from an injured player or a parent of one, or if there is a news story...ok. Feel free to discuss that here. TA actually limited the discussion on coaching rumors; but mostly from the standpoint of coaching jobs. The change came when a parent saw a post on this site about a possible candidate he thought had interviewed. That coach's current employer was informed of it, and called the coach in to discuss it. A coach should NEVER be put in that position because f what is posted on the site. Again, keep in mind the vast majority of coaches are getting paid pennies per hour for the work they do. There are coaches' families to consider in these spots as well. Other rumors about coaches can create problems as well. I would suggest people look up terms like libel and slander. Again, if there is a news story, a public statement from the coach or district about a topic, post away. Perfect example of this is the story about Hammond Morton. No rumors, and it included a link to the story. But the one that was posted that prompted me posting this was a BIG deal. Not sure how it plays out when the dust settles, but it is important for a story of that magnitude to wait for confirmed sources. Typically, if your post starts with " I heard...." think about it before hitting submit. Hopefully that clarifies things even for those who have read the first post here and wondered what was up. In many cases, like the one that led to me posting the reminder is hidden or deleted before many have seen it. As always, if you have a question feel free to send a message. Now, if you feel so strongly that these standards are wrong, you can let us know that as well, and we can work through a solution, agree to disagree, or take other needed/warranted steps. I think before the season started winamac had 16 or 19 10-12 and 59 6-9. There's a kid on Castons team and another kid that doesn't even attend winamac anymore that'd definitely help the football team this year. 3 hours ago, FinePrint said: It appears there are some pretty good games this week! littledog Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Culver at South Central - Think culver dominates the line of scrimmage and pulls out the win by a couple scores. Culver 35-20 North Judson at Pioneer- Didn't realize Pioneer's numbers were what they were. Hopefully both teams just stay healthy for the playoff run. - NJSP 48-0 Triton at North Miami- Should be a good game. Look for Triton's defense to make more stops though. Triton 28-19 Winamac at Caston- Winamac wins this one. 35-21 Quote
FinePrint Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 I'm wondering if anyone thinks Pioneer can hang with Judson. Harrell has the Jays winning 42-21. If that holds up I would give Pioneer a ton of credit for keeping it respectable! I tend to think this is another running clock win for NJ, but who knows. Maybe the Panthers will hang around. Quote

My thoughts from Friday are that Pioneer seemed pretty banged up. I know that had quite a few kids out, but I think Judson's physicality will be way too much to even keep Pioneer in the game. It also seemed like when they got to the 3rd quarter, Pioneer just looked gassed with so many of their guys playing both sides. Quote
