Warriors

Trojans

Blue Jays

Panthers

This. Probably all blow outs.

Look for the top 4 teams to try to clean up some of their mental mistakes and focus on getting some quality reps for their backups.

Knowledge of the 2024 versions of these teams is very limited at this point. However, let's give it a shot.

Caston @ North Miami: Scrappy Comets keep it close for awhile. North Miami pulls away late. 39-13 Warriors

Culver @ Triton: Hope the Trojan QB is healthy. If he is, 41-12 Triton

North Judson @ South Central (Union Mills): Running clock early. 56-6 NJSP

Winamac @ Pioneer: I'll go 42-8 Panthers

Here we go!  Conference action begins this week.  This week's docket seems to contain a lot of lopsided games.  What do you think?

Friday, Sep. 6
Caston at North Miami ©, 7 pm
Culver at Triton ©, 7:30 pm
North Judson at South Central ©, 8 pm
Winamac at Pioneer ©, 7 pm

North Miami 36 Caston 12.

Triton over Culver big.

North Judson over South Central.

Pioneer over Winamac

It'll be a good learning curve for the young warriors.

What happened to the Triton starting QB, when he left the offense died. The back up was completely lost back there. Triton's defense was stout and kept them in the game.

I was not at the game, but did watch it later.  I doubt anything was wrong with the starter.  The second QB was actually expected to be the Triton starter this year, but a change was made for the opener against LaVille.  Both guys will see action this year and I would guess the starter was replaced simply because the offense was sputtering a bit.  Just changing it up to see if they could get a spark is what I would guess.

Caston at North Miami

What a win for the Warriors last week! I wasn't really sure what they were about, but getting it done against Sheridan is huge. For Caston, it's about controlling what they can control. There is a lot of hope in the future for this team, but North Miami is too much. NM 42 Caston 13

Judson at South Central

The Jays come in with the mentality that no one is stopping them. This continues as they show too much for the Satellites. Jays 42 SC 0

Winamac at Pioneer

I was hoping up the Panthers last week and rightfully so. I saw something that I am sure a lot of people saw that Knox lacked that first week. It does look like Knox got it going. I think we will some spurts with Winamac, but the Panthers will be way too much. Pioneer 35 Winamac 12

Culver at Triton

The injury bug hit Triton pretty hard last week as one of their starting Linemen went down during warmups with what looked like a knee injury. It was definitely a tough loss and could have been a difference maker in that game. Triton is going with the next man up mentality and will use this game to brush up on things against the Cavaliers. I believe whole heartedly that the Cavs will be tough, but will be overwhelmed by Triton's defense. Triton will definitely need to fix the issues in the secondary and the QBs making reads in the passing game. Triton 35 Cavs 7

That's absolutely brutal to hear.

Ok, my bad.  I knew that game was going to be a dog fight. That game was closer than the score. Bremen couldn't do anything offensively, and Triton hand Bremen the game with 6 turnovers (5 picks and 1 onside kick). You mentioned that Bunge was a house of horrors for Triton in the past and that seemed to be the case.

Caston at North Miami - Is North Miami good?  Or is Sheridan a shell of last year's team?  We'll find out this week!  If the Warriors blow out Caston this week, I'll give them more respect.  I don't think this game will ever be in doubt, but maybe not a running clock type game.  Warriors 35-14

Culver at Triton - Blowout #1.  Triton will pound the line all night long and break enough big ones to score a lot of points.  The Triton D is stout.  It's a shutout.  Trojans 41-0

North Judson at South Central - Blowout #2.  Judson rolls from the opening kick.  Probably a running clock for the entire second half.  Jays 50-7

Winamac at Pioneer - Blowout #3.  Pioneer doesn't lose like they did last week without taking it out on someone.  The Warriors will feel the brunt of the payback.  Panthers 46-13

Just looking at Maxpreps. It seems Sheridan lost a lot from last season, that's not taking anything away from North Miami's win but Sheridan did lose a ton.

Sheridan certainly isn't "Sheridan" like they were last year, 5 years ago, 15 years ago. But after seeing NM, they're not bad. Several 2-3 year starters who have taken their lumps. The junior QB is a good athlete who started his 23rd game last week, so there's not much that will rattle him at this point. Team speed is okay, and they gang tackled well. A few guys came out for football this year that did not in the past. They're still missing their best lineman on both sides of the ball who had surgery 2 weeks before official practice started. Heard he might be back late in the year. It's good to see the Warriors have some success. I'll stick with 39-13 North Miami tonight. Looking forward to seeing all the conference/area results tonight!

Oh I know, at my job I work with a few NM alums and see a lot of NM people, so I know they have a lot coming back and should be fine. I was just saying that Sheridan lost a lot and is probably over ranked so it's not like they beat a stud Sheridan team but that win should boost the kids morale.

I don't know if the Bowyer kid is back but the sophomore Rigney will still be out, I think if both play this game is closer than the score you predicted but since one or both aren't playing. It'll probably be right around what you said.

Thanks for the info about North Miami!  Good to have a Warrior fan on here.

Good luck to all tonight.  Hoping for an injury-free night for all teams.  Should be a good night for football!

Tough game for the Warriors. I thought the defense did alright in the first Q and part of the 2nd. Pioneer scored two quick TDS and the final 5 mins or so of the 2nd Q.

I was proud of the kids for playing hard and not giving up, with how young they are they'll have games like this. They just have to use this as a building block.

Winamac has athletes, the biggest thing holding them back are the coaches. Offensively it looked like they were drawing plays in the dirt and hoping for the best.

I will agree they do. I thought once they tried getting Ethan Burgess and Tearson Wolford to the outside, things looked much better.

All I will say is, I was bummed when Mark stepped down as the OC. I get why he did it but I was bummed.

That's been the case at winamac for years.

The last time Mark was heavily involved in offense with his brother they averaged over 35 points a game- he needs to have more input into what's going on offensively

I wouldn't say for years. It's been a struggle for the last two and this year and in coach Barrs last two years (mainly due to young lineman) but offensively from 2012-2016 and 2020 along with 2021 I didn't have many complaints offensively.

And I've seen some pretty questionable stuff from North Judson.. like in the 2020 match up.. that whole last game.. I just shook my head.

I will also say this.

I can understand at keeping things simple for this year with basically no offense experience coming back outside of 3 kids.

I'm hoping that X's junior year is when you'll really start to see a more spreading it out offense. X with his throwing/running ability and some quick skilled guys like current sophomores Louis Rugg, Ivan Cardenas, Tearson Wolford and some freshman who just aren't big enough yet like Jager Terry and Cameron Hilton to get in the open and make some plays. Hunter Haschel is another kid whose put together well for a freshman but just needs to get stronger.

I think the line will come around in a couple years, lots of freshman playing currently there and a sophomore with another sophomore out for the season.

I'm just trying to focus on this year though because Addison Allen and Talen Garner have played their hearts out the last two seasons and are playing hard this season as well.

I don't think either Caston nor North Miami would feel great coming out of last week's game. The turnover bug bit the Comets, and they gave NM several short fields. North Miami committed 10-plus penalties with most being of the 10-15 yard varieties. Both teams will have to fix those issues moving forward. Caston has several nice young athletes. The future is bright in Fulton. It was good to see Bowyer back with 25 carries on Friday.

Week 3 predictions:

Culver at Winamac:  Could be a good game at Roudebush Field on Friday night. I think Winamac has a few more dudes on both sides of the ball who will prevail as the game wears on. 27-14 Warriors

North Miami at North Judson: The game will be close early as it starts out 0-0. North Miami is 3-0, but their wins are against a combined 1-8. Rumors are that NM lost yet another lineman. Can anything slow down the Jays this year? I'm thinking no. Look for NJ to keep rolling this week. 41-10 Blue Jays

Pioneer at Caston: The Panthers have me a bit perplexed. I know Knox is quite the animal this year, but the score of that game doesn't make sense comparatively/transitively. My gut likes Pioneer easily. However, my brain wants to say Caston might be able to make it a game. But my brain plays tricks on me a lot as it's smarter than I am. As Hondo mentioned, Bowyer being healthy definitely makes the Comets better. Toughest projection of the week for me. 35-13 Panthers

Triton at South Central (Union Mills): Not a lot I am able to speak on about this matchup. I think Triton handles their business this week. 48-8 Trojans

Culver at Winamac: Think the only other win Culver has a chance with is week 9 at SCUM.

North Miami at North Judson: Impressed with North Miami's improvement so far but Jays roll. 48-8

Pioneer at Caston: Starts out close but Pioneer starts to pull away a little before halftime. 35-6

Triton at South Central: Nothing says welcome to a conference like playing the top 2 teams as your first 2 conference games. Triton Shuts them out. 42-0
