The race for 2nd begins this week. South Vermilions beat the 2 teams that are probably the best teams they play until sectional. I think North Vermilions is the only team that has a shot to beat them.

Fountain Centrals at Riverton Parkes

North Vermilions at the little Trojans

Seegers at Attica

Visors at The Woofs

I’ll post my end of season predictions for the order of finish later on.

FC @ RP - Looks like it might be a long season for the mustangs. RP was able to hold #3 Carroll to 14 points is impressive! Going to be a long night for FC traveling to RP. I'll take RP 28 - 7

NV @ Covington - Game of the week. Looks like NV is not skipping a beat after the departure of Crabtree and Blank. This will be both teams first test of a team with actual talent. I also think NV is the only team that will somewhat challenge SV. If it was at NV I'd say they'd win by 2 or 3 scores but with it being at Covington I'll take NV winning 35 - 28

Seeger @ Attica - Seeger by as much as they want

SV @ PH - SV by as much as they want

The Ground Squirrel Saw some true greatness from the WRC last week. This weekend will be the first full week of football with hs, college and NFl. We are so back. The Squirrel win now announce the nutty power rankings for the week.

1. SV- Bronze Helmet back in Clinton. Garzo 2.0 looked good as advertised and the wildcat defense held sullivan out and forced turnovers. Is this possibly the greatest SV team of All Time possibly. Exciting times in Clinton and now the WRC victory lap is in commence.

2. NV- Falcons dominated Paris but this week they are in Squirrel's Game of the Week. The offense is scoring and the defense has been lockdown let's hope the Falcons can continue the momentum.

3. Covington- The trojans are 2-0 and have a huge ball game friday. Moore is really really good. The rebuild is looking promising for the trojans.

4. RP- Played a good Carroll team close and Sanders has to get RP ready to play the Mustangs and get off to a positive start in conference play.

5. Seeger- Good bounce back win and looking like the Patriots will start 1-0 in conference play.

6. FC- Rough Loss for the mustangs

7. PH- There's always Attica week

8. Attica- Do I have to explain

Week 3...

Fountain Central @ Riverton Parke - The Mustangs let one slip away last week at C-Ville. Up 14-0 at half and lost 21-14. They may not have many more chances this year. But in Herb they trust. I think the Hall of Famer still has some tricks on his wristcoach. The Panthers held the #3 team in 1A and one of the highest scoring teams in the state to just 14. And they had their chances to score against the Cougars. Which could have made things a little more interesting on Saturday. I don't think there are ANY teams in the WRC that could've done that. Say what you want, but people on here need to recognize what Coach Sanders is doing. I think the boys in Mecca are gonna be trouble for the WRC this year. RP 35 FC 7

North Vermillion @ Covington  - Coach ARod is doing an outstanding job with the Falcons so far. They appear to be an offensive and defensive powerhouse. Dare I say they're playing a little better than people were predicting (Or hoping). We'll see how they handle being on the Road for the first time (Scrimmage don't count). The Trojans are 2-0, but that may be a little deceiving. I think they play hard, and have some dudes, but we'll see how they look when they have to guard athletes all over the field. This, I think, is the game of the week in the WRC. Should be fun. Fly Falcons, Fly! NV 43 Cov 28

Seeger @ Attica - The Patriots rebounded nicely last week and hopefully restored some confidence in the Patriot faithful. They are still my pick to shake some things up this year. No one is really talking about them much as a WRC contender. We shall see. Things are supposed to be looking up for the Ramblers this year. Lots of hype around the new facilities and new coach. They're a program on the rise, but not this week. Seeger names their price....

South Vermillion @ Parke Heritage - The Wildcats impressed me by taking it to Sullivan last week. Good for them to bring the Bronze, er, Black and Purple Helmet home to Clinton. (Neither team wears a bronze helmet anymore) The Visors can now commence their annual march through the WRC. With the weather getting a little colder, the spray tans will increase I'm sure. Nothing like having that glow come playoff time. Oh, the Woolfs could've had one last week at home over West Vigo. Couldn't get the 2pt conversion to tie it in the 4th. The points will be a little harder to come by this week. SV 45 PH 8

Is Seeger capable of shaking things up like an upset win over SV in Week 8?  Stranger things have happened....

I think North Vermilions has the best shot at beating them. Probably a high scoring game

Honest question here.. what is it about NV?

If "Blank was Crabtree's secret weapon" how are they still winning with both of them gone?

Have they not played good teams? Or were they just that much better than NC and Paris?

I feel like SV has made their statement this year.  The narrative has always been that they beat up on their 1A schedule and then can't win vs school's their size. West Vigo has 533 Students. Sullivan has 524 students. South Vermillion has 457 students...

Seems to me they have changed the narrative this year?

On a more serious note, I hear "Visor Up" a lot.  What's the second half?  "Visor Up, _________ Down!"

Pasta down

North Centrals isn’t a good indicator.
West Vigo always sux.

SV needs to show they can win in a sectional not just pile up WRC trophies.

It truly is hard telling. Nothing against Rodriguez, so far, the Falcons have looked good but look at their opponents NC is Bad and Paris racked up over 200 yards in penalties. Crabtree and Blank's first year they really weren't tested, and people didn't realize they were good until they beat FC in 2012. I think these next two games will be good indicators of how the Arod era will look in Northern Vermillion County. Hard to compare coaches and truly every coach puts their all into these kids. NV also has some solid athletes with Dawson and Botner. My fear for the Falcons is how will they be up front as the competition heats up and teams scheme them. Ending Arod is two games in and it has been a great start but ultimately, it's can you do it week after week and for this year's falcon team I don't know>

Wow..

Is that many penalties a factor of how bad Paris is or how much better NV was than Paris.  I guess those might be the same thing now that I type it

Wasn't the game 14-6 when it got postponed?  Seems as though the game could of been closer than the paper says.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to some WRC football!

Fountain Centrals at Riverton Parkes  - If any WRC team grabbed my attention last week it was the Panthers!  I'm not totally familiar with Carroll outside of they had a great season last year.. and I honestly thought RP was going to drop them after last year's game...  FC has seemed underwhelming.  I had high expectations for them.  Is Foxworthy good to play this week? If anyone else takes snaps at QB for the Mustangs, I'll take RP by 3 scores..  PS - Have you seen the Panther at RP they have at the entrance?? I saw a video of it the other day and it's pretty neat!!

North Vermilions at the little Trojans  - I think this matchup will tell everyone 2 things.  1.) How good is Tri-County and Paris. 2.) Which team is tired of hearing about their "Easy" schedule the most.  What is it about the Trojan Complex? It seems several people have suggested its harder to win there?  I've seen quite a few upsets happen at the Complex.  Seems the falcons have found different ways to win so far.  The Botner kid had a pretty good game against the birds. QB played well against the tigers.  Cian Moore is probably the best back in the conference though.(Is it pronounced "Key-in" or "Sigh-an"?? I've heard it both ways. Or is there a third pronunciation?  Either way I think this is obviously the game of the week.  Is it being live-streamed? I'll take the visitors by 4.  Shootout, with lots of missed PATs.

Seegers at Attica - Donnie Baker said some teams probably wouldn't have fun.. and I think this is the half of the games where that comes in to play.  I thought I heard FC and Attica tied in their jambore?  Did that say more about Attica or FC?  Seems so far it said more about FC.  Mel Gibsons by 50

Visors at The Woofs - Visors have over 200 more students than the Wolfs and they could score almost 200 more points than them as well... Is it true PH will be under an interim Head Coach soon?

My understanding is Coach Rector will be deployed soon, so yes, PH will have an interim for a time.

That is what I was told.  Tough situation for the Woofs

Week 4 is here… hard to believe we’re here already.

biggest game of the week maybe even of the whole season is here. Northern Vermillion County should be absolutely PACKED. A year back they played a classic. SV pulled away in the last minute and a half. I believe it will be the same game this year… different outcome. Good things are happening in vermillion County. Both teams are looking lethal. Conference in decided this Friday night. The NV seniors should be out for a win speaking they’ve yet to win against them. Give me NV over SV 35-28

Parke Heritage in a rough spot finally gonna get some good momentum. PH over Attica by however much they want

Covington came out hot and slowed the NV offense down and then let things fall apart. I think Moore should have a bounce back game. Give me Covington 50-12

Meanwhile RP is looking good. Seeger is a team who can play but I think the panthers get the patriots 42-16
