I'd say you're right.  First home game coming off the loss.  We have a few guys banged up so I'm interested in seeing who steps up!  The "next man up" mantra will definitely be in place.  The talent is there so will be a good opportunity to see who's ready.

Indeed.  Saturday film was not a good experience, and practice yesterday morning was long and rough.  Some non-seniors will likely get some opportunities to prove themselves due to others resting.  Should be a good home opener as we put the previous Friday behind us.

The same fans who complained about the soft schedule are now probably complaining because you have some guys dinged up.  Regardless of what the fans think...scheduling that game was a very wise move for the Patriots that is going to pay dividends down the road.

Nail on the head.  I have heard a mountain of whining about this school and "why were we playing them?"  It's pretty simple, you don't get better by dropping 60 on Tell City and going home.  That does nothing for Tell City or us.  The game against CAL short of a few things could have been 21-14, but things happen, that's football and the small things will destroy you as we know.  A little humility never hurts.  

As it stands currently, the top 3 in 3A are in the same sectional.....you will never get out of sectional playing cream puffs.

Boonville (0-2) @ Heritage Hills (1-1) Heritage Hills High School - The Jungle Friday, September 6, 2024 7:00 pm CDT Kickoff   This is the 22nd meeting between Heritage Hills and Boonville. Heritage Hills has won 12 of the past 16 meetings. The Patriots lead the series 12-9.    Boonville won the first 5 meetings in the series including a 60-0 Pioneer win in 1974, which is the largest losing margin in the Patriot Football program history. The radio silence after the CAL game left me assuming the first and second rule of fight club applied to that game.  I guess the kentucky trash talkers were right.

I'll break the silence.  It was a rough night.  They never took their foot off the gas.  Score coulda/shoulda been 21-14, but still a would have been a loss and the little things will kill you and that is football.  It is a true "academy" with dorms with kids from all over, those teams are built and that is ok.  No excuses, we asked for it and we got it.  Learn from it and move on.  My son said Saturday film and Monday morning practice were both rough....Boonville will likely get the hate from the week.

The media will kill jump on you (polls etc.), as will your naysayers (like the Memorial fans of the world) on a loss like this.  As was said before....much more comes from this than playing the teams from the small side of the conference.  You can recover from doing all the little things wrong against those teams.  It kills our haters over in the SIAC when they can't tell their kids that the PAC plays nobody (as if the weaker half of that conference is SOMEBODY).  HH is very good and just a lot better last week.  That should concern EVERYONE in section 32.  As one SIAC fan once said (I've never seen someone get so much mileage from a loss).  In a way...they are more correct than they care to admit.

LOL. What Memorial people have naysayed anything about HH losing? As Alduflux mentioned, I saw nothing but radio silence. I don't really know anyone who gives a rat's @$$ about polls. I think your "SIAC disrespects the PAC" thing is more imagined than a reality because with the exception of MD, nobody in the SIAC has really seen a PAC team in quite a while (and certainly none of the top teams like HH and GS). This year will be a lot more interesting with the possibility of multiple match-ups. That's a breath of fresh air for us, but admittedly a tough challenge.  

I agree with you though, playing a team that beats the brakes off you is much more valuable than curb stomping a weak team. And I also agree with you that us playing the teams at the bottom of the SIAC doesn't help us all that much. It's really just a chance to put in some wrinkles and rest players who might be dinged up. It's why I'd like to see the SIAC go to divisions like the PAC, which I hear has been discussed recently. Even then, in looking at schedules there's some weak teams on almost everybody's schedule. We have Central, Bosse & Harrison. GS and HH have PCHS, Washington & Boonville. Pretty much the same difference.

In 2021 I remember people giving you all the business about it being a great opportunity for GS because Memorial and Chatard were both bumped up to 4A. I think everyone pretty much knew South Warren was a juggernaut in 2021 and GS was gonna be in for a long night, but I would imagine having gone up against the talent they had helped GS somewhat in that state game against Brebeuf.

Facts.  We don't get better beating Tell City by 60 in week 2.  Playing CAL exposed every single problem and weakness we had.....gave plenty of film study to show guys where and how they suck.  Get better!

Chatard is a perfect example, they can and have lost 4 or 5 games in the regular season and went on to win state.  Their schedule tests them week after week and it shows when they get to the postseason.

I tuned in last week….it was amazing. 
 

natural radio vocals some are saying….and the announcers actually know the scheme and players….can even name the ball boys and give shoutouts to them as well! 

On another note….

Pike Central is 2-0.  They need more praise.

No doubt. They are usually battle tested. I notice they have a Wk. 8 opening on the schedule though, so being in the 4 school Circle City conference does have some drawbacks I guess...
