cornfed Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Week 6 of the season and week 3 of the conference schedule Bremen @ John Glenn - Rough first half for both programs, but Glenn pulls this one out LaVille @ Knox - Knox just keeps rolling Tippecanoe Valley @ Jimtown - Jimtown shuts down the TV run game just enough to pull out the win. This would setup the week 7 showdown with Knox that could very well decide who brings home the inaugural INSC championship. Quote
from_the_sidelines007 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 BREMEN at John Glenn - Lions in a close one LaVille at KNOX - Redskins too much for Lancers Tippecanoe Valley at JIMTOWN - Could go down to the last possession. Jimmies We could use more gridiron backers to join the INSC discussion. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 Quote
First_Backer_Inside Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Bremen @ John Glenn - Sounds like Bremen is trying to figure things out without one of their key receivers. Had paid much attention to John Glenns scores, but Rochester saw both in the summer. John Glenn is BIG. I think it will be a close game, but I think Glenns size is too much to deal with for Bremen. I'll never count the Lions out though. LaVille @ Knox - Arguably Knox has two of the best players in the league. Just too much for Laville to handle. If Laville can survive being healthy the rest of the regular season, I think they will be more than ready to face most teams in 1A, other than North Judson but I'm not sure there's a 1A team who is. Tippecanoe Valley @ Jimtown - I think Valley pulls this one out. They have a few rough weeks in a row where I don't think they have played up to expectations. I think Moriarty will have them ready to go. It's been said previously on here that he's not a great coach. I would disagree. I think they are still try to figure out who they are as an offense. I think they still play good enough defense to be in any game. I think the Vikings start to get on a roll leading into the playoffs, and it will start with winning this game. Quote
Shoot_The_Hands Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Bremen @ John Glenn - Two teams that are a shell of what they used to be. Both teams trying to get the program back to where it was in the past and find an identity. There has been some great games in the past between these two teams so I won't be surprised if Bremen comes out on top but I am taking the Falcons. LaVille @ Knox - Tough test for LaVille this week against that Radke offense. Believe there defense will play Knox tough at first but Knox will wear them down and come out on top. Tippecanoe Valley @ Jimtown - Don't know much about Valley but from what I hear, if you can shut down there run game they don't have much else. I think Jimtown see's the conference title in sight and wins on the Banks of the Baugo. Quote
MarshallCounty Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Hopefully the Leeper era is over soon. The Bremen program is a shell of its self. Six teams in the conference, and I don't think there is an argument that the Lions have the worst coaching staff and program at the moment. Quote

Is it a football only issue or is there a problem higher up? I only ask because back in the day (20+ years ago, showing my age), Bremen was a tough out in all sports. Bob Holmes seemed to be righting the ship until his issues and Bremen has never seemed to get back to where they were. Next question would be: Can they get the right staff or will the administration hinder that? Is there just a lack of interest from the students and community? Northern Indiana football is great when Bremen and Jimtown are both good. Edited September 26, 2024 by Offintheyard Quote

Northern Indiana football is great when Bremen and Jimtown are both good. Have watched Bremen a few times each of the last 5-6 seasons and felt that they have much more talent than what is displayed on Friday Nights... again just my opinion!!! What would a revamp of an entire new staff do for the energy of the program? Is there an area coach that has had success bring his entire staff in and would administration let that happen?? If Leeper is on the bubble as far as being the HC what are thoughts on his replacement (in house - or outside). Looks like they have a good mixture of guys coming up and if Bremen thinks its time, then time to make change should come sooner than later. In the meantime... I wish Leeper and his crew luck moving forward! Quote

I always kind of saw Bremen being kind of the outsider when they were forced to move conferences since they were the smallest school. From my experience seeing Bremen football, the program and community thrive on the type of games the old Northern State used to provide where the community mattered and the stands were full. Not like in the NIC where most of you games against the SBCSC had half full stands. Hopefully, the new NSC can bring some of the old aura back to how it used to be, but both Bremen and Glenn need to get back to how it used to be for the conference to be special as these two teams look like the bottom feeders to me. NIFootballTigers Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Bremen @ Glenn - Glenn takes care of business at home LaVille @ Knox - Knox wins big with the ground attack Valley @ Jimtown - Jimmies come out on top in a closer game than most think. I think the Jimmies will wear down TV with their depth and toughness. Quote

Northern Indiana football is great when Bremen and Jimtown are both good. We have a new AD, hopefully he has more drive and ambition. The old AD was a great secretary but not a good leader. In the old days, love him or hate him Frank DeSantis was driven to have the best for the athletes and his entusiasm was infectious on the whole school. The superintendent is a paper tiger, says the right things but has no real action. One school board member is very active in improving things for all students and athletes, donates gear and equipment all the time and very active in youth sports. One school board is openly hostile to any idea of improvement and has mentioned to others that athletics isn't his priority. It shouldn't be the main priority, but don't say it isn't a priority. They seem to have a blase apathetic attitude anymore, and it is a real disappointment. As far as Coach Leeper goes, I won't question his effort or level of commitment, I question his game plans, strategy, and effectiveness. It is obvious to me that if you rank the 6 coaching staffs right now in the new conference, they are the weakest. That's not good enough. I don't know if they will fire him, Bremen doesn't like to rock the boat, but I hope he has enough personal accountability to step aside and let someone else improve things. 1 Quote

I can vouch for the fact that “Frantic Frank” was a legend in the officiating community. Quote
NIFootballTigers Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Jimtown 14 Valley 0 As I've said all year, stop valley's run and you beat them as it showed tonight. Jimtown absolutely wore down Valley using the ground game all 2nd half. Valley's QB play came back to haunt them yet again tonight with 2 fumbles lost and several bobbled snaps and hand offs all night. If Valley stands a shot at a sectional title, they better find a QB in a cornfield down south. Welcome to the INSC maybe the TRC would give you a refund to come back to the conference. Quote
