temptation Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Brownsburg @ Avon: Episodes of deja vu for the Bulldogs who have struggled in the tournament recently? They draw Avon in round 1. Maybe the rivalry game keeps the Bulldogs focused as they are clearly the better team and have big goals over the next few weeks. Brownsburg wins 38-14. Carmel @ Zionsville: We may be witnessing the end of an era at Carmel as the Hounds have looked discombobulated for much of the season. Zionsville gets em at home and I am not sure these two have ever played on the gridiron. Bigger game for Zionsville. They pull one off here. 23-21 Eagles. Fishers @ Noblesville: Another rematch and this one was a classic at Fishers during the regular season. The Millers get a chance to host this time and are looking to snap a 7 game losing streak. The Fishers contest (an overtime one) was the streak starter. I think this one is closer than it should be but Fishers makes a couple of plays late. Tigers win 27-17. Franklin Central @ Columbus North: An underrated matchup on the schedule that is not getting much attention. Winner gets CG in round 2 in a "prove yourself" game. Flashes looked good before getting roughed up by Westfield in week 9. Bulldogs have been solid all year and are at home. CN wins this one 24-17. Hamilton Southeastern @ Homestead: Which Royals team shows up? The one that lost to FC or the one that beat Brownsburg? Time will tell. Homestead in for a long night here. HSE wins 38-10. Harrison (West Lafayette) @ Westfield: Shamrocks start the tournament at home and have looked the part of a state title contender over the last month. Harrison is good, but not good enough to play with the top of the HCC brass. Westfield wins 41-17. What say you?: 1 Quote

Zionsville 28 - Carmel 17 - I agree with Temp, changes are coming for Carmel Fishers 35 - Noblesville 14 - Maybe Fishers is about to go in a run Franklin Central 27 - Columbus North 21 - Calling for the upset here HSE 42 - Sparty 7 - Sparty sees it’s season end early again Westfield 35 - Harrison 7 - Big win to maybe start a state title run? I think Harrison will be able to shorten the game a little bit but it won't end up helping them) Quote

The one that beat Dwenger, Luers, and Wayne? Or the one that lays an egg every time they play Indy? If the former, your score is accurate. If the latter, it's a running clock in the third. I'll roll with running clock in the third. 1 Quote
WestfieldRocks Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I'll switch your Carmel/Zionsville pick. Don't think this Eagles team has enough for Carmel, even when they are down. I have not a lot of info on Columbus N, but playing at home, and after seeing FC get thrashed at Westfield two weeks ago, I'm not sure this game will be that close. Sitting there watching Westfield dominate, I was trying to think how in the heck FC was able to beat HSC. Quote

Correct. 4-year FC starting QB missed the Westfield game due to injury but gutted it out to play last night vs Col North. FC D came up huge with 2 3rd Qtr takeaways in CN territory to turn a 17-7 deficit into a 21-17 lead with about 2:30 to go in the 3rd. There was no more scoring but ALOT happened in the final 15 minutes of play. After getting a 3rd takeaway (diving INT in EZ for a touchback by backup CB on deflected pass) with 0:42 left, the FC D had to do it all over again after CN recovered a fumble 3 plays later (CN had saved all 3 timeouts so FC could not simply kneel out the clock) with 0:24 left. In the end, the Flashes D made TWO stops inside the red zone in the final minute of the game. Gutsy win for FC (now 6-3) over a tough CN squad. Quote

After staying healthy thru week 7, injuries to FC's key skilled players seem to be piling up. Plus, the best-in-the-biz CG staff essentially gets 3 weeks to prepare for either FC or CN while the FC staff starts working on CG gameplan now. Edited November 2, 2024 by slice60 1 Quote
