Nothing would make me happier than seeing Garrett win this one. It would be the first time since 2000 that two public schools would play for the state championship in 3A, the winner of that game oddly enough, Heritage Hills. Some might call it a coincidence, I say its destiny that Garrett beats Luers on Friday night...And then takes one on the chin from Heritage Hills in the state championship lol.

Being a cyo kid n watching jimtown community reign down on luersfield was unforgettable..friends n I thought..is this notre dame's feeder high school..the Golden helmets n talent mixed with their raucous crowd..mind blowing

Just starting with common sense: There are many, many highly qualified officials at the high school level who are as good in terms of officiating ability as those who find their way to D1 or even the NFL. I have worked with many D1 and NFL officials over the years, and I know this to be true. The difference is in the training they receive and the way they discipline themselves to utilize it. But there are many high school officials who could rise to that level, given the opportunity. Some don’t want to. Some can’t, for important reasons like family or employment situations. Some don’t get the opportunity - there is some luck involved.

So, to your point, the fact that you see someone is out there on Friday night, rather than on TV on Saturday or Sunday, tells you exactly ZERO about their officiating proficiency.

Not a lot, most are in Garrett. Keep in mind, the only high school in Auburn is a private school, Lakewood Park Christian. Dekalb is right outside of Auburn

You’re the one who started it by putting out the insightful observation that NFL and college officials are better than high school officials. Why you felt the need to enlighten us all with that shocker, I don’t know.

I simply made an observation that holding and pass interference are the two calls that seem to get coaches and fans riled up the most. Thank you for your insights.

No one's asking for them to be perfect, aint gonna happen. Just stating that those two calls, sometimes bad, can have a major impact on the outcome of a game. That being said, the officiating at the semi-state level and state level is pretty top notch. 

Never let it be close enough for the refs to decide the outcome.

I have been Lurking about from the Charleston SC area.  It was easier to comment on the Knights and the season in general when I was walking the Luers hallways everyday.  The High School football is very good here, but it just doesn't feel the same.
