No way my Tigers will be 9-0 this year. Too many holes to fill.

Yea, I was pretty surprised when I saw that. Replacing Fisher, Ellspermann and Broshears will be a mighty task.

I am going to say that for the first time since the SIAC expanded, there won't be an undefeated conference champ in 2025.

Good chance it will happen, but for know, someone will to go undefeated somehow.

Those definitely are the biggest losses.  But the biggest of them all is Fisher.  I think that is the biggest question going into the upcoming season.
Although definitely not a 1 for 1 swap on the other 2, I think we will find that there will be moves to replace them.
By observation of progression, I think you will see more of the new Sophomores stepping up being ready this year.  That group has the makings to become legendary eventually, if you haven't seen them yet.

Haven’t heard much of the freshman group other than they are good. I do know they had a couple of playmakers, but my knowledge on them is limited. Someone did mention to me I shouldn’t be surprised if there are sophomores starting this season back in 2024.

I’ll never forget our game against Reitz in 2016.  We turned the ball over to them.  I think Diekmann came up with the ball.

And there’s this hit made on him that I “felt” as much as I heard or saw it.  It was a grownup‘s hit.  And you could tell it rattled Diekmann a bit too.

So I’m checking my roster sheet…who is this number 8?  Combs.  A sophomore, really?

Well, he’s going to be fun to watch for the next few seasons.

There was several games that year I was thinking he was going to be great for the foreseeable future. Since you could notice the Lindauer to Combs duo beginning to form and on the defensive side too. Wasn’t he a linebacker back then? That group was heavy hitting from what I remembered about them.

I believe he was an outside LB, yes.

And, yes, you could start to get a sense of the chemistry he had with Lindauer on offense.  It was easy to tell that he was just a cut above.  Always active, high motor, super competitive.

Making an NFL roster is a tough thing to do.  Even a lot of drafted guys don’t end up ever making it off the practice squad.  UDFA is even tougher.

But it’s cool that he’s got a chance.  And it’s a real chance.  Some UDFAs make it.  Kenny Moore and Mo Alie-Cox were UDFAs for the Colts.

Peyton Hendershot made the Chiefs as UDFA, too.

Yes, forgot he was the OLB and not the MLB that year.

I’ve heard multiple teams reached out to him over the last week or so. While I’m not a huge Jaguars fan, I’m glad they took the chance to sign him. And I think he will have an excellent opportunity to make the team, whether it’s initially or being elevated from practice squad. I believe C&P said he is the first player from the region to sign an NFL contract since North’s Cooper.

That’s not entirely true.  Cooper was the last one from Evansville to make a roster.  But I know there has been at least one other to get a shot in the spring:  TE Steven Scheu, who also played at Memorial and was a standout at Vandy.  He got shots with the Pats and Broncos.

As for the whole region, don’t forget ol’ Cutler.  His last contract was a 1 year with the Dolphins in 2017.

They were a duo from the first practice of 7th grade Cub football. They were almost unstoppable and made the coach look exceptional... He hit so hard in 7th grade it was almost scary.

I always thought Combs should have gotten more attention coming out of high school.  It's funny how all that stuff works...sometimes I think kids with the best marketing team get the most attention.  I've watched a lot of HS football and he is in my top 5 easy.

Unfortunately for me, I did not see them when they were in cub football. First time I saw them in action was the 2015 Mater Dei game, when Lindauer made his first career start. Don’t know if there is another “unstoppable duo” coming up in the ranks, but the Lindauer/Combs duo was amazing to see.

I think he and Lindauer were about to get offered by IU until Allen went a different direction.

I believe Branson on defense was always mainly OLB, not MLB. I think Max Goodwin and McGuire were the main MLB's during Branson's time.

That's because they were doing it for years since 3rd grade at Good Shepherd in the Memorial feeder league. That's where I first saw the "when in doubt throw the jump ball to Branson" plays.

Goodwin was one of them, I think McGuire was a LB at first and then switched over to DL.

Jasper - New Weightroom Equipment: Girls Basketball HC Brittany Maners and Football HC Derek Hart presented a new Perch weight system + programming at last night's school board meeting. Unanimous approval.

Among the additions:
-Perch lifting equipment with a digital component tracking rep speed and indicators

Nice, informative preview. I'd be shocked if they finish 3rd though. Although I could see the top 3 teams finishing tied or within 1 game of each other.

It will be interesting to see where they are once the schedules are put in. I’m assuming they will bump up to first, but it depends if other coaches put their data in. Which could happen soon, as summer practices begin in less than 3 weeks.
