oldtimeqb Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 3. Reitz 4. Castle 5. Memorial So I guess it’s a fair assumption that Sokeland thinks the top 2 teams in SW Indiana are in the PAC. A debate that won’t be settled until November. 1 Quote

Name a season in the last 13 where a PAC school wasn't in the top 3 in the area....I'll wait. Quote
tango Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 HH is head and shoulders above anyone else and a clear #1. I think 2-4 are pretty much interchangeable. I'm fine giving the nod to GS as #2 bc they probably have the most pieces returning. It will be interesting to see if GS is any more competitive against HH this year than they were last year. 1 Quote

One can argue GS was as competetive as Memorial was. 38-24 vs 35-18. Memorial gave up 294 rushing yards...GS gave up 236. Settling for field goals kind of got us. Fisher had a great game though passing for 419....but Foster didn't have a bad night throwing for 269 yards. You're right, HH was just better than the SWI competiion last year. Have to wonder what their run defense is going to look like this year. Quote

Memorial Watermelon scrimmage was well attended. They were definitely easing into the playbook. I did hear they may have had a prescripted run of plays for each set. I felt it was like they were hiding everything from opposing scouts that may be in attendance. A lot to be optimistic about. Luke Brown starting at QB is the big key spot replacement. In my opinion, he has taken a huge leap forward from last year and will surprise some people. Looking forward to see what is shown tonight in Castle scrimmage. 1 Quote

In contrast, in the sectional final it was 21-21 with under 3 to go in the third. We screwed the pooch by giving up a long KO return and tacking on a face-mask that gave HH great field position. We don't need to debate it here, but box scores don't tell you much. It's really too bad we didn't get to play you guys. It's always great to go against the adversity that the advantages small private schools bring. As well as playing a school that plays in such a deep well coached conference. Only changing it slightly, based on various updates heard, personnel changes, coaching changes, and reports from scrimmages. 1. Reitz 2. Memorial 3. Mater Dei 4. Castle 5. Jasper 6. North 7. NLCTigerFan07 Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 From an outsider from the opposite end of the state, how is everyone feeling going into year 6 of Jasper and Vincennes being added to the SIAC? Have they been good additions? How are we feeling about the full, round robin schedule that closes off the SIAC from non-conference opponents until tournament time? Quote

This is the last year for closed conference for the SIAC, as Vincennes is leaving to the WIC in 2026. Since they wanted to go to conference that fits them better. They did have a nice 2023 season in the SIAC, but they couldn’t get a lot momentum in their other years. However, they did make it to the Sectional Championship back in 2021 and 2023. Jasper has been great addition to the SIAC overall and has been competitive (with other sports too). Jasper also went 9-0 in the SIAC during the 2021 season before their early exit to Northview. They also brought in a new coach this year, Derek Hart, and he has a new offense and defense compared to previous Jasper’s teams. It will be interesting to see how they will do in the postseason, since they’ve struggled since joining. 1 Quote

Mater Dei Castle should be lower, don't think they'll be receiving votes by the end of the season. Reitz should be at #5 (after Chatard, HH, East Noble, and Mishawaka) and could end up even higher. Memorial is probably top 5. To emphasize how loaded that sectional is, I think it will be Gibson Southern at 2, Mater Dei at 3, Memorial at 4, and Southridge at 8. Quote

I was very surprised seeing Memorial at #1 especially losing Fisher, Ellspermann, Broshears and some other seniors. But finishing in the Top 10 is a strong possibility depending how the season progresses. I was impressed with them at the Scrimmage last week. However, Sectional 32 could be having 4 teams in the Top 8 again this season. Should be a very exciting year for football again. Quote
