I've always wondered what this one is based on so early with no coach questionnaire being filled out.  They literally have nothing to go on rather than last years record.

100% predictive ratings, it will probably be a bit better in August if Coaches fill it out. They also do not have the schedules yet either, so I’m assuming these were posted just a few days ago.

I'd say #8-10 are probably pretty close, but the rest not so much..

Congratulations to Zac Nero, as he has been named North’s next HC!

I wonder what happened with the handful of candidates they offered prior to this. Either way, there's at least some benefit to having a guy that's passionate and has been with the program for many years.

I didn’t hear much other than it was a small list. But, I’m glad that Nero is moving up and hoping he has success with North. Their defense will be good this year, since they return like 7 or 8 starters.

I hope they take this opportunity to improve the field lighting.  The Bowl is the most poorly lit football stadium I’ve ever been to.

I think that’s part of the plan, the article mentioned bleachers on the home side and I saw a comment saying handrails are being added. And renovations to the press box. That’s all I know for know about it, @TransplantedPanther probably has more info on the plans.

Epoxy anchor bolts?

I should be more clear.....I am having trouble envisioning how bolting some sort of seating device to the top of the concrete won't make that new seating surface too high.  In other words.....won't fans look like Humpty Dumpty sitting on this new surface?

I have no official source for this, but I have always heard that the Bowl was supposed to have seats on top of the concrete in the same style as old ND stadium. What I don't understand is if the coating (installed a few years ago) is failing, how is drilling a million anchor holes in it not going to make the problem worse?

The most cost-efficient approach would be to not replace the lights because then nobody can see any other problem, much less the game on the field.

Agree on drilling through the failing coating.

$7 Million. Never forget.

@Muda69

That is a lot of money.  Hopefully the Evansville community will come thru with donations so that taxpayers are not the hook for such an extravagance.

No, this will be paid from general obligation bond funds, not private donations.

Yay for government debt!

Why do these school board members think it is acceptable to spend this amount of money on an unneeded extravagance like a football stadium? I would be ok with this if it was funded by private donations, but they are spending money confiscated from their hard working fellow citizens!

When does the fiscal malfeasance from local school boards come to an end? Will it take mass protests?

As someone who actually pays property taxes in Vanderburgh County, I would much prefer to keep the two unique HS football stadiums we have (Reitz Bowl and Enlow Field) in good repair. Drilling into the resurfaced concrete it what has me scratching my head a little bit.

The assessed values will go up and eat a substantial portion of the debt organically.

Truthfully, I wish I did have more. Pricing it out, I can’t see bleachers costing 7 million around the south end. Yes it is a lot of bleachers, but that could nearly fund a complete renovation of the bowl.

I’ll ask around and see what I can find, but I would almost bet the bowl gets a lighting upgrade as well. However, that isn’t as exciting as new bleachers.

Looks like Massey Ratings dropped his preseason projections this morning:

1. Memorial 9-0

2. Castle 8-1

3. Reitz 7-2

4. Mater Dei 6-3

5. Jasper 5-4

6. North 4-5

7. Lincoln 3-6

8. Harrison 2-7

9. Central 1-8

10. Bosse 0-9

His preseason are pretty weighted from the prior season’s performance from what I understand. I believe it’s for his algorithm to start with once the season begins.
