Especially in a written medium like an internet message board. Frankly it just makes you sound ignorant, no matter what kind of deep and important message you may have to share. It pays to enrich your word power. THIS! I thanked the last guy who corrected my spelling. I’m a firm believer in learning something new every day if I can. Others just get mad if shown a learning opportunity. That’s the guy at work who knows everything and doesn’t need training. 1 Quote

And an individual can usually overcome any shortcomings from their upbringing, if they choose to. I didn't grow up in "Disneyland". I was just fortunate enough to have two loving parents that emphasized the importance of an education and hard work. Anyway not paying attention to spelling or grammar when one posts on an internet message board usually isn't ignorance, just laziness. Whatever, you do you. Quote
Irishman Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 I am a stickler for my own spelling. I laugh a lot when I see people replying (not here, just social media in general) with something like "your an idiot". While I don't often correct others, I admit that mistakes jump off the page to me. That likely comes from grading student work and seeing it so often. 😄 Quote
Irishman Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Quite the visual....many will try to imitate what Cignetti has done, but it will be tough to do. I think other coaches might be able to vouch for this, but my experience with the couple of 5 Staer recruits is that they are HUGE pains in the ass. They get by on talent alone. There may be a few that are the real deal. I saw Kirby Smart being interviewed recently and was asked about whether he thought the SEC has lost ground as the premier conference. He said, well, you need to ask NFL teams. Where are their scouts looking? Look at NFL rosters. And my thought was that the best NFL teams are full of more players who were not 5 star level. Was it the Seattle and New England Super Bowl that had ZERO players that were 5 stars. 1 Quote

And usually it’s not the correction itself, it’s how someone does the correcting. 46 minutes ago, Irishman said: Quite the visual....many will try to imitate what Cignetti has done, but it will be tough to do. gonzoron Posted January 8 Posted January 8 It's gameday! I feel that Miami is playing the 2nd best football in the country right now, so my head is picking Miami to win. My heart wants Ole Miss to win. I have loved watching Trinidad Chambliss all year, can Miami's defense stop the Ole Miss offense? Quote

Can the Ole Miss offense get going against that fierce U defense, is another angle. Should be a decent game. 1 Quote

Irishman Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Found this interesting. Maybe this is why so many 3 star (spelled it right this time. 😄 ) have competed on this level so well? As much as programs try to match what Cignetti has done, do you shift the recruiting focus from the high school players to the veterans in the portal? I think the game is already on that path but some of those 5 star recruits will be hard to look past. Quote

Thats the only way I correct misspelled words-by using an asterisk at the beginning and end of the properly spelled word. That’s all. What other method would be less offensive than that?? From all the insults that simple act spawns toward the messenger, it must piss, a lot of people off, including @Coach Nowlin, who started the most recent round by tagging me in some argument that didn’t even involve me at the time. I assume he did it to generate content since the aftermath went on for 2 pages. Quote

I think it will be much harder to pull off in football. Quote

It seems like we are seeing a lot of injuries in these playoff games also. I wonder if the age of the player or that extra year of playing is a factor in that? Quote

As outlined, you claim it is random............ And, again, wasn't "pissed". just finding it interesting the thought process of your intent and how you arrive at those decisions...... So when I fixed an error, I was seeking your approval that I did it right.... as explained already..... now for a 2nd time, both times, again, seeking clarification and yet to show the "pissed" emotion tone....... nice try though Quote

Irishman Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Tough, physical game; took it out of both teams. A couple of injuries for Miami could be a problem in the next game. And They lose that safety for a half with that targeting call. Quote
