Sure.  But even you have to admit… It’s a pretty terrible look cutting ties with your biggest rival and the only team with a pulse that you defeated in 2025 days after your strength of schedule kept you out of the playoff.

I’d say it slightly differently. “The teams that Notre Dame needs on their schedule no longer need Notre Dame on their schedule.”

No, Notre Dame wanted to play the game at the end of the year and USC was not willing to do so since they are in the Big 10 and they wanted to play it in the first 3 games of the year

Notre Dame: "If it comes down to Navy or the CFPS, then the CFPS can kiss our ass." Not sure how anyone with a moral compass can't admire the Irish for this. 

The more folks hate on Notre Dame for keeping Navy, the more I love Notre Dame for the loyalty they have for the service branch that saved them.

Good God, Notre Dame is not on some pedestal above every American in the United States. Then you and every Irish fan needs to immediately stand on your moral compass and stop complaining. Hell, make it better, just openly state that Notre Dame is better than playing in the CFP and will be crowned as a champion every year of the service academies. We all win and the nonsense stops…

I think Bob hit this on the head. What’s SC gain with a tough nonconference game against ND?  Additionally if you are going to play a challenging game like this, you definitely want it earlier in the season. ND may run into future challenges with others thinking the same. What’s in it for Purdue, Michigan, MSU, Arkansas, and others if ND comes knocking?? More risk than it is reward with mega conferences now.

The problem is some people believe that the need to marginally increase their playoff chances by upgrading the schedule in that way trumps honor and loyalty. Thankfully, Notre Dame has never taken that position. If that makes them naive, so be it.

Will do. "Notre Dame is better than playing in the CFP"..............this year. Arguably the best team in the country, Pop Tarts Bowl was a slap in the face. And the Irish slapped back. You see Komets, EVERY bowl game wants a piece of Notre Dame more than any other school. They stand to make a TON of money off the Irish. That's why we can sit back, smile, and say "go pound sand."

Yes, like they have done every year since 1926. In 1964, the games in South Bend have always been in the 3rd week of October, in LA the 3rd week of November. Next year would have been at USC in late November per the tradition of the last 100 years.

That game has always been toward the end of the year . USC wanted out of this game , Lincoln Riley was talking about getting out of it last year . USC was tired of taking an L and hurting their CFP chances . Notre Dame has won 7 out of the last 8 matchups .
