Donnie Baker Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Hi, I’m Donnie Baker. Time for some WRC talk. Pretty obvious the battle is for 2nd place. The Tenderloins will blow through the conference and are heavy 1A south favorites. If they would’ve listened to that boy Billy they could’ve beat South Putnams 🤣 Here’s some advice from Donnie. If you don’t like who was hired for a coaching job post it on your My Space page not here. We don’t need Nowlins locking any more threads down. 2nd and foremost go ahead and donate $30 to the GID and help avoid another crash. That’s all I got for now. 1 1 1 Quote
KDumbwitty Posted June 15 Posted June 15 1. Riverton Parke - Preseason #1 or 2 in multiple state rankings. Week 1 vs Linton will be a must-see and a test for the Tenderloins. Rumor is the Panthers have 60+ on their roster this season. Every male in the school must be playing for a chance to play on Thanksgiving. With South Put moved up, can the Panthers finally get over the hump AND do it without their graduated QB and all-state safety? 2. Parke Heritage - I believe they return more starters than any other team in the conference. Did Billy move up to HS to run his dominant JH offense or is he still operating the sidelines in middle school? They will push for 2nd place in the conference and probably start the year 4-0 before they will see Seeger. Was last year's Top 10 ranking legit or not? This is the year we will know. 3. Seeger - Maybe the biggest question mark of the year. New skilled kids, lots of contributing seniors lost, but a new (and predictably better) coaching staff. Based on Laf Jeff's offense, will we see Seeger toss the ball around this year with Saltz? Week 1 vs Carroll is another great matchup in week 1 for the WRC. Then off to The King's Benton Central squad in Week 2 before they start conference. Week 4, 5 and 6 will be a stretch of games that could make or break the Patriots this season. 4. Fountain Central - WRC Hall of Famer Jacob Earl takes the reigns from The King. Its hard not to cheer for Coach Earl after a few disappointing seasons for the Mustangs. They'll probably have the best QB (Foxworthy) and one of the top athletes (Batchlor) in the conference and a top safety in Willoughby on defense. Again, another WRC with a tough week 1 opponent as FC plays Southmont to start the year. 5. South Vermillion - They could have been the WRC's youngest team last year and got a few wins. Has the Barrett effect worn off now or is it truly Miller Time for the Wildcats? And how many transfers will they lose to TH South or RP this year? 6. Covington - Three games to start the year again in 2026 could all be wins for the young Trojans. The challenge is what happens after those three games. They return their QB and RB and that is nearly all their offense from last year. Covington is the sleeper of the conference if they can win 2-3 games in weeks 4-10. 7. Attica - Best facilities in the conference. Coach Dean returns nearly his entire team on both sides of the ball. Is this the year Attica turns the tables and picks up some wins, maybe even a sectional win, assuming they don't draw SP again (not possible, but that wasn't cool....) 8. North Vermillion - The falcons are currently in the middle of an 11 game losing streak with opening games against an improved North Central squad and Paris. Hopefully their new coach can increase the roster numbers and push to be competitive this season in a weak WRC. I'm not mad about any coaching changes and making my $30 donation today. Thanks Donnie! 1 Quote
BillyBettis Posted June 21 Posted June 21 -Don’t talk about coaching changes or the thread will get closed, but keep on attacking Coach King, his family, and his ethics and that’s okay. What a joke. Not getting my $$$$. -Donnie, Kevin Allen told me this week you’ll see the panthers in a lot of spread this year, maybe I’m not as dumb as I look. Not many one trick pony’s play in Lucas Oil. I think Brad would agree, guess we will see if I’m right huh. I’m not sure if they have a true spread guy leading that portion of their offense or maybe they are just getting the box opened up to run the ball more effectively? Make all the jokes you want, not another poster on here has more X AND O knowledge that me on this WRC thread. Heck even Kevin has met me for lunch to talk over my offense for his JH program. -KDiddy- if Rector wanted to have Shelsky and company lead him to a deep playoff run, he would have already called me to be his OC. Losing Vandiver was a massive loss, he’s coaching all aspects of the game. I was actually asked to not come back to help with junior high at PH. I was told I “yell too much” from the HC and the upcoming kids “wouldn’t be able to handle it if I yelled over a dropped pass.” I think my presence was a distraction as I was looked at as the head coach by players, parents, officials, and opponents, I did my best to stay out of the way, but maybe I took too much shine away from the head coach I got the job for, what I thought was a good friend! Sad for our community, a great group of athletes, and the program I have helped build. Excited to have my Saturdays off from youth league though. This was allowed by Rector, and both AD’s. Thankfully to save my ego, I was contacted by North Central, Attica, Jeff, North Put, and 3 others that I’m not going to post but I plan on taking the year off, finishing my home and continuing to grow spiritually, fiscally, and mentally. I learned Moore in 5 years from Coach Moore, then most assistants learn in a lifetime. I will coach again someday and help build a program that bases its success off winning in grades 3-12 both on and off the field and bringing pride to a community again. I’m an acquired taste I get it, but my former players love me and we won. Thats all that matters. -Hope the Wolves all the success. Riverton will win the WRC and unless they screw it up should def win the sectional, who will their opponents be in the regional, semi, etc? 1 Quote

Approximately 7.1% of all words were I, me, my, or other first-person references. That is a fairly high level of self-reference for a post that is ostensibly discussing a football conference/team situation, as much of the discussion is centered on the poster's own experiences, opinions, and role.------- I've seen the best coaches in the conference coach, win state and/or consistently win. The one item they all have in common is a humble approach. WRC123 Posted June 24 Posted June 24 RP - Safe to say its a state championship or bust for the Panthers. I think they will easily be the best team in the south. No one in the WRC will be within a running clock in the second half. Can they live up to the hype??? PH - I love what Rector is doing at PH. He's building a program the right way. He had to clean up a bunch of crap when he took over this program and it's only getting better with him leading it. They return a lot of big lineman. Heck they return a lot of everyone. Look for a huge improvement from the Wolves this year. Covington - Another group that will return a lot of upperclassmen. I think Wheeler has this program going in the right direction. The only question is will the kids and the community buy into the football program? Seeger - Cronk returns! I think they lost a lot of players from the 9-2 squad last year. Might be an up and down season this year but they will be rolling by the end of the season and going into next year. FC - Tough loss for the mustangs. Losing the best player in the conference before the season even starts is not a great way for the "hall of famer Jacob Earl" to start his coaching career. It will be a tough season for the Mustangs and I could see them finishing even lower but we'll see what the Mustangs can do. SV - A good young core that will only continue to get better. One of the better athletes in the conference in their qb Shryock. I look for him to have a big season and possibly go for 1000 in both passing and rushing. I just don't think all the pieces are there yet. NV - After a tough season last year and with the departure of Crabtree I think the Falcons will find their new identity and compete in a couple games this year. I don't know Coach Crum at all but I do believe in the athletic director at NV and I know he picked the right guy. NV will be much more competitive this year and I think they are one year away from competing for the top half again. Hinchee is going to be a stud. Attica - Could see them start the year off 2-0 and then it'll be tough. They are similar to NV as they will be in a couple closer games this year. They do return a lot from last years squad so I could see them bumped up even two more spots. 1 Quote
GroundSquirrel Posted June 28 Posted June 28 The squirrel is BACK hickerbillies and yes I have been in hiding these damn tigers and deer have been raining hell on this little squirrel but now I think am safe and back from hiding!!! Last year was eh for the WRC only one school making it to the sectional title games with a massive chokejob that let SP go win the state title, but I have heard whispers from all across the conference and now the squirrel is ready to preview every team and make his picks. Attica- Coach Dean is starting to turn heads and man what year it was for the boys in RED. Attica I think will be better again under coach Dean and they will continue to get better. I think they will be a middle of the pack team that could pull off an upset during the season but a .500 or better season wouldn't shock this squirrel and that is NUTSSSSS!!!!!! Great Job Ramblers. #MakeAtticaRelevantAgain Covington- Man the day as come where we have to say the trojan football program is better than their basketball program. WHAT A SIGN OF THE TIMES! An experienced group that had success last year returns for Coach Wheeler and I got to say he is doing a fantastic job in the trojan complex. I do think however this team lacks a sperstar and won't have a guy that can just go win the game for them, but they are a team that can steal a game or make you earn a win. Give Wheeler another year and the TROJANS will be at the top soon!! #GivetheBBALLMoneyToFootball Fountain Central- Tough break for Earl & the STANGS with their QB going down. The silver lining is now Earl can implement stuff in the summer to get the STangs ready for the fall. Outside of Injuries I know the Stangs return one of the best lines in the conference and could be a strong contender to maybe win the conference but without the QB that task is much harder now. I still like this tea but not their year. #ThecurseofHerb Parke Heritage- This squad is top team in the WRC this year and I think they could be at the top of the rock in a couple years. This team is solid but is young in places. Rector is a phenomal coach and will get them ready. Maybe a parke county title but the WOOFS need to beat good teams this year to earn this squirrel's respect. #HOOFURWOOF Riverton Parke- Well how a decade can change the landscape of a conference. RP has never won a sectional in these players lives and they are talking STATE TITLE this year for the PANTHERS. I like NUTS BUT THIS IS NUTS!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong this panthers team is good but at least win a sectional before talking Lucas OIL. This team is a clear favorite and they have good pieces all around and will be my pick to win conference. Let's be honest if you put last years RP team back in any Year they would be middle of the pack or below average in past years of the WRC. That statement is not NUTSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! I like the staff at RP and maybe they can make a run but will they live up to the hype #Don'tRivertonItUP South Vermillion- Tough year on and off the field for Miller and his crew. However 95% of his team his back and is a year older with some stud athletes with Shyrock and the Smith kid back from injury. Will the line improve for the WIldcats and with the passing of Coach Blank (RIP Legend) who will take over the lineman duties in Clinton. I think coach Miller is the hungriest coach of the conference and wonder if the kids are following that. I like this team and we will see where they are come august. #WhatWillItBeMillerMildOrWild Seeger- 2nd place last year don't know much about the Pats but they are always solid it seems like. #VisorKillas North Vermillion- BAD BAD BAD BAD Falcons. All around crummy season is Cayuga and doesn't look much better for their new guy. Don't know his don't need to will be gone soon I'm willing to bet. Will be a bottomfeeder again this year. #CanWeGoBackToThe2010s PRE-SEASON Power Rankings 1. Riverton Parke -Defending Champs 2. Parke Heritage - Restore the WOOF 3. South Vermillion - A year older 4. Covington - No Superstar 5. Seeger - COuld be wrong here 6. Fountain Central - No Foxworthy 7. Attica - Could beat FC we will see 8. NV - Bottomfeeder You guys Are NUTSSSSSSSS if you think I'm NUTTTTTTSSS. I will be back!!!! 1 1 Quote
ThePrince Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Another boring season in the WRC. 1. Panthers - easily will be the best team in 1a this year. I’ve heard the kid playing qb is a very good athlete and they have even gone spread a little bit this summer (just to empty the box some) I don’t think it’s state championship or bust. Look what Sanders has done! The WORST team in the state just a few years ago is now the BEST team in the state. I know I believe, the players believe and the community believes in him and this team. Can they make that final push? I think yes 2. Seeger - Coach Cronk brings that big ball knowledge to the WRC. We all remember what happened last time a 5a coach came to the WRC? Yeah he beat the crap outta everyone except RP. Look for the same thing to happen here. 3. Wolves - I could easily see them being in the #2 spot. Tough and well coached team. They have one of the best younger groups coming up and I see them competing for the top spot next year. Their 8th grade qb would be the best qb in the conference right now. 4. Covington - I think we all believe and trust in what Coach Wheeler is building. Gotta find a way to keep their numbers up. It’s tough when you have an extra sport like soccer. 1a programs can’t compete if there’s multiple sports per season. 5. SV - they will only get better. Young group that is ugly and very talented. Give them a year or two and they will be at the top. 6. Attica - this is the year the table starts turning. 7. NV - might have some more football players on the team but it will be another bad year. Can Crum and co turn things around? 8. FC - No Herb = no wins. It’s really that simple. 1 Quote

Quite the assembly of teams. Should be a fun one to watch. 1 Quote

ChatGPT WRC games of the week: (intake no credit for the copy and paste) WRC Game of the Week 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Linton-Stockton (Non-conference) The best opening-week game involving a WRC school. Excellent measuring stick for both programs. 🏈 Seeger at Benton Central One perennial contenders with playoff aspirations and one school looking to rebound with a new HOF Coach . This should be one of the better pure football games before conference races heat up. 🏈 Parke Heritage at South Vermillion A good early conference matchup between two teams looking to climb the standings. 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Seeger One of the premier conference games every season. Physical, well-coached football. 🏈 Covington at Parke Heritage Big rivalry feel and likely important for the middle of the WRC race. 🏈 Seeger at Fountain Central Historically one of the conference's most competitive matchups. 🏈 North Vermillion at Fountain Central A matchup that often has conference and sectional implications. 🏈 Parke Heritage at Riverton Parke Parke County bragging rights. Always one of the biggest crowds in the WRC. 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Covington A strong candidate to decide the conference championship if both teams take care of business during the season. Quote
