Komets2727 Posted Tuesday at 12:39 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:39 AM First thing I see is Dwenger at 16. Hmmm, seems a bit high, especially given a conversation recently that we had when I praised Dwenger. Are these rankings based on last year or where you really believe these teams are this year? Quote

High school pre-season polls aren't easy. I imagine there will be a lot of movement in the next couple of weeks. I give a lot of credit to last seasons performance. I believe you're at the top until someone knocks you off. I took the coaches poll into consideration. And a little bit of gut based one what I'm hearing in social media. Trying to give an unbiased opinion. If @temptation ever shows up, he can have the poll back. I didn't want to see the Top 25 go away in his absence. Quote

Oh, I missed Chatard at No. 13. Patriots have a lot to prove after some big losses. I'd have them ranked someplace between 8-HM in 4A. Jasper and Reitz are going to want their revenge. I haven't heard how the scrimmage with Jasper went. Quote

It's difficult to keep track of of all teams around the state. If the talent is there, Todd Wilkerson seems to know how to get the most of it. But in small town, run on talent can by cyclical. Quote

New coach, Kevin Tempel ... classmate of mine. Tyce Winchell is a name to watch. QB/RB/DB and Micah Toler at WR. 1 Quote

Just make sure that 24 of the 25 teams in the poll are Indy based… Rest of the state should be playing flag football 1 Quote

Looking at some of the teams that were left off makes you realize how strong football in Indiana really is. The Carroll vs Hamilton Southeastern game really intrigues me. It will go a long way in determining whether the north will be a contender or a pretender in 6A. The Week 1 slate is off the charts throughout the state. I'm not sure I can ever remember a week where there were so many marquee matchups on tap. Quote

Sounds like defense will be their strength but they are breaking in a new QB and several new offensive lineman. Edited Wednesday at 02:55 PM by Footballking16 Quote

Your list doesn't have much from SW Indiana, but I'm sure Gibson Southern, Evansville Memorial, Jasper, Heritage Hills, Evansville North, or Evansville Reitz can produce at least 2 teams good enough to make a Top 25. It's easy for the Central Indy powers to take the spotlight, but it's also possible they elevated the teams below them. I'm sure there are lots of coaches around the state trying to learn from guys like Kyle Ralph and Eric Moore. Quote

Nothing like trying to break an offense in against Ben Davis, Loyola, and then St. X. Talk about throwing them to the wolves. Quote

I know less about the SW area of the state, so feedback is appreciated. Bloomington South seems to be getting a lot of love statewide. Southwest is more dominant in the lower classes, no? Quote

The Southwest generally has the best 2-4A teams south of Indy. (I'm going to seek shelter now after that comment.) Quote

I think it's hard to argue 2A and 3A. It seems that the south has owned those classes as of late. It's just hard for a 2A or 3A program to crack the Top 25. Avon is #25, and I would think they'd take the 2A or 3A state title. Nothing against smaller programs, I think Adams Central and Bishop Luers are the two best programs in NE Indiana. They just don't have the resources to compete with schools that are 2000+ in enrollment. Quote

I asked myself if I even wanted to do this one. It's a weekly commitment. Maybe you should do a small school Top 25. Just promise that Luers and Adams Central will be in the Top 10. Give the south the other eight spots. Quote

IIRC, Cathedral had an exodus of players to North Central last year and the CYO talent that has become this years Sr class chose Chatard over Cathedral for football four years ago. Chatards freshman team back then was a juggernaut. Not sure if any of that matters four years later but that’s how I remember it happening. Quote
