I keep thinking about this HHC race. As you guys know, I want my Highlanders to win that crown. Im also a guy who likes Southern Indiana football. I have watched some of BNLs games on Youtube. That's a really solid team. They can really pass the ball and they do it quickly. Dayson Kirby leads the state in passing with 1200+ yards. I'm not joking. In 3 games! They have 3 WRs. Gilbert, Goodman, and Kern who are all in the top 40 of WRs in the state. Their OL does a good job protecting him. I'm not discounting East, because they've played a lot harder schedule than BNL or Floyd has so far, but I definitely think that Floyd vs BNL could be a big time game. Jack Mull himself is 19th in the state in passing with 720 yds and that's coming off of a broken wrist this May and he couldn't throw much this summer. I think they're fairly deep at WR but he goes to Jaxon Stone a lot who has 16 catches for 387 yds which is 7th in the state. Sebastian Robertson is 37th in rushing, averaging over 100 yds a game. Also, Donovan Taylor is tied for 2nd in the state with 3 Ints. And their K Owen Gerlach is 2nd in K scoring. I cannot wait for this game next month. Gonna be awesome. I don't know much about Easts team other than they brought a lot back and are probably still capable of winning the conference crown.

You haven’t seen how bad East’s defense is. I get giving up a lot of points to two ranked teams but getting sliced and diced by Seymour last week was unacceptable. Unless we make major changes, BNL and Floyd Central will put up a lot of points on us.

They can still win a shootout. Villarreal can be dangerous. He has a lot of experience. You guys have some big lineman too.

Not as big as they used to be. We look like Dollar General Columbus East these days.

What's happening up there? Are they all going to Columbus North.

I don’t know for sure because I’m not close to it anymore and don’t live there anymore. However, I have heard some things and they weren’t from people associated with East. I know the transfer rules have changed in the past year but that has only encouraged poaching (sometimes even done publicly). Not illegal but it still feels yucky. I’ll leave it at that.

This is pretty nuts. And I thought Markell Jones put up ridiculous rushing numbers his senior year. If this continues, he’ll break Markell’s single season rushing yardage record.

It's always cool to see a small town have a guy like this. Gets the community excited. This kid is probably playing his way into a scholarship to a MAC school. Good for him.

Jennings County with a low snap on the punt. The ball rolled behind the punter and he fell on it on the one inch line. One play later, the East RB runs it in for the TD. 10-0 with 11:30 left in the half.

I was suprised at how small Seymour's roster is. I would say Floyd Central outnumbered them 2 to 1. That's a growing school. What happened?

From what I heard decent number of upperclassman decided not to return.  So Seymour is playing has moved up some sophomores that in a typical year would be JV and trying to adjust a good amount of others to positions they didn’t play last season.  With that you can’t cover some spots and the upperclassman groups is mostly undersized in comparison to others which just compounds the problem.  Rough year for the Owls so maybe conserving some future talent by playing with less. Some kids just aren’t going to be ready for a varsity level games so just guessing but the staff maybe  avoiding putting inexperienced kid in who may get him/someone hurt or end up quit now fr  ohm the bad experience when you could build them up instead to be a varsity contributor in a year or two.  A growing season for sure.  Word is the Freshman group is solid so there is some potential to build off going forward.

I hate to hear that. I have a buddy on their coaching staff, I just didn't wanna ask a bunch of questions like that to him. I like Tyson Moore a lot. Dude is a good coach that has gotten more out of Seymour than any other the coach the past 20 years. Seymour's 8th grade did beat our 8th grade Highland Hills team which is no slouch.

And the student growth has mostly changed to stabilization at this point. With a good chunk of that previous student move-in population not being interested in being part of the football program.  So school numbers shifted, but interest level hasn’t went up. But that seems to be an issue with  many Seymour sports over the last decade or so.  I’d love to say there are potential athletes roaming the hallway not playing, but the coaches don’t seem to be finding many of them or at least convincing them to come out.
