Here is the official article on BNL hire. Congrats to Coach Tidd!

As a former football dad, who’s kid played for Coach Barker and the previous staff. This article paints a very different picture of what I saw the last 4 years, and from my understanding, of what’s going on from the administrative side of things in Bedford.

Guess this type of thing is to be expected when a school board member is also your sports “reporter”.

I’m glad my kids have graduated.

The “sports reporter” is a bitter and pompous man.

BNL won its first conference title since I was in HS 15 years ago and was a 2 pt conversion away from 2 in a row in 2023.
they lost 18 starters and played all sophomores and juniors last season.

I could be a little off on this too. But Coach Barker and a few of the locals bought out the non existing youth league from the Club and paid for the new Junior Stars 2-6th grade teams out of their own pockets and put all that together without any help from the school board.

2nd: the weight lifting thing is a complete drop from the schools end. My buddy said coach barker had even put together an entire weight program, in sport focused for the entire school, girls and boys. And not one other team coach came for the months they had it going.

I get 2nd hand information, but I’ve been told the last 2-3 years, that it’s been nothing except broken promises and unfulfilled responsibility or show of any sort of support from the admin.

Man. It’s depressing reading this about BNL. I just want everyone to do well in all sports in this conference but it feels like we all get in our own way of success.

Floyd Central just hired a new AD. The Principal from Scribner Middle School. Got the job over ADs from other local schools.

Parker Elmore is committed to Indiana. Kinda sad we see such talent having to leave the conference for exposure.

My understanding is that he was already talking to IU and other Big Ten schools prior to transferring to Columbus North.

I saw an article where Columbus Regional Health plans to end it's sports medicine program which will affect both North and East high schools with the four athletic trainers (two each) at those schools kind of in limbo. I believe it said the contract with BCSC ends at the end of Sept. They'll work around this problem since they have to have athletic trainers.

Yeah I had heard about that too but didn’t look into it to see what the ramifications were. I had no idea the athletic trainers came from them anyway.

Doesn’t really seem like a good PR move does it?

In other news BNL along with JC and Jeff are looking for new AD’s. FC just hired one.

I had gotten the inside scoop Cory Stevens was leaving Jennings County in mid-May. Didn’t want to say anything until it was official. It’s such an unfortunate situation. He really helped make things better here. Hopefully the new AD (former boys basketball coach, Joe Hartwell, can continue it or take it to the next level). I’m always hesitant when a local gets these positions because they always fall into the “good ole boys club” political mentality but I’ll give Joe the benefit of the doubt and be hopeful.

Wait a minute, Jeff needs another one?    They just hired AJ Moye a few weeks ago.

Yeah I heard that, I trust Joe to handle things properly over there.

Hopefully Franciscan Health picks up these contracts.

It’d be hilarious if Franciscan picked it up. CRH usually tries to shut them out over stuff. They want to be the only healthcare provider in Columbus.

Is there more than one?

Probably. Based on previous experiences, I’ve learned not to assume a name is unique.

I know for a fact the schools are not happy with CRH

Floyd missed out big time on him

He took the basketball job 3 years ago, but then he got a job offer from VU and wanted to try college. I like the guy FC hired as their AD. AJ will do a great job at Jeffersonville. One of the nicest human beings you'll ever meet.

The bigger issue I see in the short term is a couple of athletic secretaries are new as well. Fall sports will be here before we know it….

i sincerely wish the new AD’s the best of luck, FC took a pass on a good one, an FC boy. Hopefully Moye does something no other AD has managed at Jeff, mainly uninstall the revolving door in the AD office.

NAFCS loves to hire from within the school system. The next AD at New Albany could possibly be the Principal or AD from Highland Hills. They love hiring "their people." That's what they do. I just hope the administration at Floyd stops handicapping coach Bragg. Yall have no idea how much crap he deals with.
