Fkfootball Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 (edited) Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, is a strong public high school with several indicators of quality: • Academic Performance: It ranks 21st out of 431 Indiana high schools and 1,427 nationally (U.S. News, 2024). Students show 44% math proficiency and 60% reading proficiency, above state averages. The school offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses with a 58% participation rate and an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Its Early College High School partnership with Ivy Tech allows students to earn an Associate’s degree alongside their diploma. • Programs and Extracurriculars: The theater program is top-tier, ranked among the top five nationally in 2007 and invited to perform at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland (2012, 2018). The orchestra won state championships in 1995, 2017, and 2023, and the Acappella Choir won in 2015. Athletics are competitive, with teams like football, basketball, and baseball in the Indiana High School Athletic Association. • Facilities and Resources: The 97.25-acre campus includes a planetarium, auditorium, modern classrooms, and athletic fields. The student-teacher ratio is 20:1, slightly higher than the national average but typical for public schools. 2023-2024 Winners of 18 of 24 HHC Championships. They just don’t have what it takes to compete consistently with any teams up north. Quote
Impartial_Observer Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 One question I’ve always wondered, HHC plays some decent bat and ball sports. In fact virtually every year one of the river BB teams usually has at least one first round pitcher or sometimes two. FC has had some phenomenal SB teams, I remember facing them during Castleberry’s tenure they had 8 D1 players in ther lineup. JC in years past has had some great SB teams with some of the best pitching in southern Indiana, a player that may well be one of the best all around players to ever come out of southern Indiana. I think a handful of final fours but not the success you would expect. Has always puzzled me. Quote
Fkfootball Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 I really don't want to argue about this petty shit even though i've created plenty of it. I'm not gonna argue with Coach Hess, because I appreciate what he did for FC football when BG was dealing with Hodgkins Cancer. Coach Hess has met me in person and it's likely I'll cross paths with him again, so no beef here. Coach Bragg likes him. And I like Coach Bragg. I have absolutely no idea, nor does anyone, of who Impartial Observer is? I've had coaches, parents, and players, who read this board, ask me who he is. Everyone in Southern Indiana knows me. I have know Idea who knows him? Lol. If you come to any of our games this season, let me know, and I'll introduce myself. You may not hate me as much when you realize I'm just a middle aged guy with too much to say at times. 2 Quote

Pantherfootball1957 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 Floyd Centrals field installation has been a circus this summer. Not only that but they have had to move their weight room to the cafeteria due to work being done in there. The annual powder puff game already got moved to their middle school and there ain’t a chance in hell their scrimmage vs Charlestown prior to week 1 is held at home. They haven’t even started laying the field, they have one more week before they go back to school and they are still grating the field. Now the football team is getting kicked off the soccer field that they were trying to practice on. From what i’ve heard they boys have been positive through it, but man it’s a shit show. Having a brand new AD helping them navigate this definitely doesn’t help. Quote

I work in excavating, and we built the infrastructure for that turf field. Rain has probably slowed the process down as it does with everything. Hopefully it gets done in time. Quote

Providence did exactly that and replace track and scoreboard over the winter and spring. Had the track ready for track season and everything. Floyd can’t get out of its own way. I believe it’s because if FC gets something then NA has too as well and vise versa. This is the problem with have 2 large schools in one county being managed by on school board and the people running the projects or over seeing them from the administrators level have zero construction knowledge. I remember a few years ago we went there and the speakers weren’t working because they waited to long to install and had to wait on a part to install correctly. I believe 2 home games they didn’t have announcer. Heard their administration downtown likes to micro manage everything from sports to the classroom. Crazy timing!! Quote
